Crews in san leandro that destroyed an upholstery shop. Homes along both streets have been evacuated. Kpix5s Andrea Nakano joining us now live from the scene. Reporter firefighters have made Good Progress on the fire in the last half hour. Most of the flames have been put out, but firefighters are on the ladders trying to douse the flames inside this building. The call came in before 8 30 tonight. The fire is centered around this upholstery and Home Furnishing store behind me. The flames quickly ripped through the business. Firefighters have moved in defensive mode as the roof came crashing down. The roof of the store collapsed as this fire grew to three alarms. This fire is just off east 14th between georgia and euclid. Its in a complex of several different businesses. It looks like most of the damage is here to this one business, but the neighboring businesses may have sustained some damage as well. Firefighters tried to save the store, but it was pretty clear early on that the store would be a complete loss. Firefighters initially started an interior fire attack. They were pushed back from the fire that they found in the building. Reporter firefighters tell me there is a home right behind this building here. The residents in that home have been evacuated and also there are two apartments above the business nextdoor. Those residents in those homes have been evacuated as well and firefighters are telling me tonight that no injuries have been reported so far. Reporting live in san leandro, Andrea Nakano, kpix5. It is june in the bay area, conclude a windy place. Wind is often a problem when it comes to a big fire. Not a problem tonight. Im happy to report the wind in and around this fire only between 5 and 7 miles per hour. That is much calmer than normal. We will continue that warming trend into high of 72, 5 degrees above average, san jose up to 88, 8 degrees above average and concord will briefly hit the 90s, 8 degrees above average. Kpix5s andria borba says groups that work with immigrants are bracing for the sweeps. Reporter raids by immigration and Customs Enforcement are expected to begin in 10 cities including San Francisco and los angeles beginning sunday. Organizations that work with undocumented immigrants are warning their clients tonight have a plan and know their rights. For the ceo of catholic charities, that means preparing children and mixed legal status families for what could happen. That parent needs to know who that child is going to be with in case they have to leave and those conversations have to be had with the child. Thats part of the preparation. Reporter for attorneys it means being one of dozens of attorneys on standby to assist if verified i. C. E. Raids are happening and swooping in. Our goal is to insure that everyone understands what their rights are before theyre pressured or coerced into signing away any of those rights. Reporter according to the miami herald, the raids are expected to target recently arrived immigrant families and unaccompanied minors with prior deportation orders. Agents are looking for about 2,000 people. For her part, oakland mayor libby schaaf who has tangled with the Trump Administration over immigration said her officers will not help federal authorities. But i stand before you very confident in my right to be a sanctuary city mayor, to direct the limited resources of this local community into things that my residents prioritize sp resources for what is a civil federal matter. Entering a home or a business without consent and without a warrant, those are instances where we need to hold i. C. E. Accountable. We want to insure if i. C. E. In his first interview with a Spanish Language network, he tells telemundo the Obama Administration is it to blame for the current hard line approach. What zero tolerance means to me is were going to be tough on the border. The Trump Administration announced its zero tolerance policy last year. More breaking news, in the past couple hours Sacramento Police released body camera video from the shooting that left a rookie officer dead wednesday. Police department. Investigators say the suspect used a high powered rifle but later search found even more weapons on the property including several handguns and rifles. I truly believe if officers utilized the equipment they had at the time prior to retrieving the armored vehicle, we would have additional officers murdered on that day. Reporter Sacramento Police along with members from other agencies honored officer Tara Sullivan today as her body was taken from the Sacramento CountyCoroners Office to a funeral home in elk grove. The 26yearold from Pleasant Hill died wednesday after helping a woman involved in a domestic dispute remove her belongings from this house. Prosecutors say adele ramos shot the officer with a high powered Assault Rifle 30 mis r she arrived sacramento. Then it took 44 minutes to rescue her. Heres the timeline of what happened. At 6 10 osullivan was shot and lay wounded in the backyard of the home, but with the suspect continuing to spray shots from all sides of the house officers called for a bearcat armored car at 6 12 to rescue her. At 6 19 and 6 22 officers over the scanner asked if they could go into save osullivan, but no response. The bearcat finally arrives at 6 28, but 26 minutes go by until officers are able to reach osullivan. Well make a barricade and pull you out. Reporter investigators will comb through the scanner traffic and interviewing officers on the scene to see if anything could have been done differently to rescue officer osullivan. Officers on the scene, though, could be heard over the scanner saying their bulletproof vests would not cover them with the rifle that ramos was firing. While many questions still need to be answered, the Sacramento Community is mourning tonight. There are no words to convey the depth of sadness we feel or how heartbroken we are for our family of our young brave officer. That was Andrea Nakano reporting for us. Tonight Richmond Police investigating a driveby shooting that left four people wounded this evening. It happened around 6 30 on 14th street and pennsylvania avenue near lucas park. None of the victims have life threatening wounds and most of them drove themselves to the hospital. Police do not have any information yet on the suspects vehicle or a motive. On the peninsula tonight three people are facing criminal charges after a major fireworks bust. Redwood city Police Seized more than 1,000 pounds of illegal fireworks. Tonight a three alarm fire in san leandro destroyed a large store on east 14th street, crews finally getting ahold of the blaze that started before 8 30 tonight. Homes along georgia and east 14th street were evacuated and now it looks like a total loss. The fire there so bad crews gave up on the building itself just trying to contain it to the structure that you see there. Well have the latest live from the scene straight ahead. Uc santa cruz has just taken down a bell that dates back to the Catholic Missions of the 18th century. Native americans say the bell is a symbol of cruelty and racism. Shes part of the amah mutsun tribal ban and wanted to come to uc santa cruz to be connected to her ancestors. I wanted to live on a tribal land. When i was living here, only like four other members were living on the land at the time. It was just a constant reminder of the brutality and all the terror our people went through just there in my face. She was a 1 2 mile from where she was last seen. Tonight there is a new push to reopen an iconic authority in contra costa county. Lafayettes Landmark Park theater has been closed more than a decade, but now a group of residents wants to restore it and reopen it as a cinema and entertainment venue. Lafayette is considering a method that allows a developer to buy the theater with help with renovations in exchange for building rights. The city council will take up the issue on monday. There is a bit of an orange glow at the corner of the building in the front there and firefighters have moved into the building. They are also on the roof trying to assess the damage from above.
