The administration also announced on monday that, starting in october, poor immigrants will be denied permanent legal status if they are deemed likely to use government benefit programs. Really . booing because i know of at least one immigrant lady who lives in really nice Public Housing and pretty much only works on christmas. laughter applause cheers easter. I guess easter, too. Easter. The plan was unveiled by head of immigration services, and just for men box, ken cuccinelli. The cooch defended this policy targeting latinos when asked if it would target latinos. Why shouldnt the Latino Community feel targeted by this . The same question might have been asked when my italian immigrants were coming, immigrant ancestors were coming. If we had been having this conversation 100 years ago, it would have applied to more italians. Thats one of the things you say, you say your guests its one stipulation you have you tell them, you have to bring ch apeopleike to ll it show, is m a storytelling show. So people that have something to share, you know, whether its advice or Life Experience stephen or vice. Exactly. That. Stephen that can be a story, too. Weve had those, weve had those. So its a storytelling show. I just like people to come and share an experience of some kind. Stephen is it, like, therapy for the people who come on at all . Sometimes it can be. Yeah, sometimes it can be. And sometimes its just informative. Ive just in my own life, i just know that one of the reasons why i wanted to create the show is because when people were courageous enough to be extremely honest with me, that helped me far more, and people sharing with me their experiences which you have to be really courageous to do, right . Sharing their experiences instead of advice. And so thats why i wanted to have a show and i mean, ive had some people in my life who were courageous enough to be very, very real with me and prevent me from making some big, huge mistakes in my life. And i was like, why dont we talk like this more often . Stephen you had this talk with your husband, somebody you already know very, very well. You guys did a twopart. Yes. Stephen red table talk. A lot of ground to cover with your husband, will. Why why do that in front of the camera . Because my wife and i bring i it. laughter . Behind closed doors. Stephen but we dont necessarily point a camera at this, because everyone would see then that shes always right. I dont allow the cameras. applause thats good husbandry right there. Stephen what stories could you tell each bargain yourselves or about each other . Well, really what was really important it bthat about will and i doing that show together, two things. First of all, it was really to kind of get rid of the idea that people in the public eye have perfect relationships. We were kind of sick of living up to that. We were real sick of it. And then, second of all, really having myself and will come and talk about our relationship. Sometimes you see just women do it alone or you just a guy do it. And us having coming together and taking responsibility for both of our parts. And, also, will being the successful guy that he is and being willing to share what his pitfalls were in the relationship and in his family. You cant imagine how many other successful men called and said, wow. My wife has been saying the same thing for years. Because you said tit opened my eyes. And because you said it, now im willing to listen. Because i think a lot of times successful men might feel like, hey, look, i know what im doing. I have had a lot of success in a lot of areas. I know exactly what im doing. So a lot of times you know you can shut your partner down a little bit you know. So i think exactly applause gli dont know what youre talking about. You wanted to have a red table stephen one of the greatest things is in the conversation you had with your husband, will, he was talking about he had this image in his head, he. A picture in his head i love this part. Tell the people what he said about the picture in his head and what your daughter said. Stephen as i said before, just for those people who havent been paying attention, you are a member of the squad, ayanna pressley, representative ilhan omar, alexandria ocasiocortez, and representative rashida tlaib. Obviously, the first question i have to ask and any newsman im not one but a newsman would ask you this question. Okay. Stephen who is more powerful your squad or taylor swifts . Obviously ours. cheers and applause stephen you have oversight capabilities. We have oversight capabilities. Oh, stephen. Look what you made me do. laughter gli put you in a conflict with taylor swift. Thats what we media types like. We just like drama. Thats all right. Thats all right. Stephen now, there has been an ongoing. Public d you, all freshmen, all women of color, and the president of the United States. What goes through your mind when you hear donald trump call you a racist . Okay. laughter thats rich. But, you know, in all seriousness, i dont call him what you just called him. I call him the occupant. He is just occupying space. applause he i mean, we we went from a president who sang Amazing Grace to one who displays zero of it. He does not honor the integrity or the responsibility or the empathy or the compassion, and so for that reason, i call him the occupant, not because i dishonor the office but because he does. cheers and applause and so now and i would say that stephen youre youre cruising for a tweet right now. Thats okay. And i would say this is a, you know, predictable prompt from him and a distraction from an administration that is corrupt and chaotic and callous. And i do want to just say that although i am so grateful for the solidarity and myself and my colleagues did receive in the wake of those hateful tweets, i did stephen the house condemned him. The house condemned him. But, you know, the support from our colleagues although not all of them. But the support from our colleagues and our constituents and just the society writ large. However, i did feel like i was sitting in a place of privilege, that we were getting this kind of attention in the same week and in fact on the same day that eric garners family was denied justice. And so as much as i am impacted and it can be hurtful that there are hateful tweets, im much more focused on the impact beyond hateful rhetoric of hateful policies and the harm that that is causing the people in this country, and the residents of the massachusetts seventh that i was delivered to washington on a mandate to advocate for. So thats really what im focused on. Its a distract. I wont give short shrift, that it emboldens dangerous things. I think el paso happened because of that xenophobic and racist rhetoric. Stephen it opens a door, tacitly condones racists exactly. It emboldens, fans the flames of that. This is someone in the highest office the land who should be embodying grace and dignity and we should be a beacon of hope and refuge. We are losing our standing in the world because of the action of the occupant in the white house, and thats why we cant afford four more years of him. cheers and applause . Stephen i agree. Are you an impeach are you in favor of pardon my ignorance on this one. Are you in favor of pursuing articles of impeachment . Olutely. I mean, i didnt go to congress to impeach a president. This is smug enter into with great, you know, really sober about. But this is bigger than donald trump. I know that, you know, they like to say this is a partisan witch hunt, but this is bigger than him. This is about the office of the presidency. And this is about for anyone that says we can wait i think, you know, theyre not experiencing the real fear and fragility that people are living with every day, the people that i represent in the massachusetts seventh, for many reasons, feel that fear and that fragility, and the fact that my district is 40 immigrant. We cant wait. Stephen lets talk about 40 of your district are immigrants. Are they those rich ones that trump wants to have in the country . Or the people struggling to make a better life in the United States . What you stephen thank you very much. Last one. Last part you.
