However we will have a really strong wind which starts tonight going into tomorrow and another wind event happening next week and in the meantime we want to tell you about a high wind warning and not just an advisory now, anywhere in red you see that offshore flow and that is bad news when it comes to the fire and in fact that will pretty much be blowing dry air right up against the fire with gusts up to 80 mph and it will stoke that fire unfortunately it is for the rest of us we do have going into effect tonight. A firefighter and two civilians are being treated for nonlifethreatening injuries as a result of the kincade fire in Sonoma County and the firefighter was injured yesterday evening while trying to help the two civilians evacuate the fire area and at one point the firefighter had to use a shelter to shield himself and civilians from the fire. According to the latest report from calfire the kincade fire has grown to nearly 24,000 acres in the geyserville area and a stretch of state highway 128 remains close because of it last night new evacuation warnings were issued for six communities, gifford springs, whispering pines, anderson springs, adams springs, obergs, and cobb. That is a warning people may need to evacuate. Here are the latest figures on the kincade fire, 23,700 acres have burned, containment is still at just 5 , 600 homes and other buildings are threatened and 49 have been destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but pg e has said one of its transmission lines in the area malfunctioned. Pg e officials are also warning customers that todays outage could last 48 hours or longer. It is likely to impact 36 different counties, utility officials plan to handle it differently this time. Reporter this weekends shut off could impact as many as 850,000 pg e customers spanning three dozen counties becoming the largest, and potentially the longest, shut off since the outages began. We are preparing for what is likely going to be a widespread safety shut off across our Service Territory to combat the risk of a catastrophic wildfire. Nearly 1 million of pg e 5 million customers are expected to lose power but huge nd Officials Say they have learned from this weeks outage after admitting they only shut off lowvoltage lines and not high voltage transmission lines prior to the kincade fire because the wind wasnt strong enough. We have revisited and readjusted our protocols determining when we will deenergize a higher voltage transmission lines. They said they were now likely shut off power to high voltage power lines in areas that the higher wind than forecasted because of topography. A transmission line at one of their towers failed just minutes before the kincade fire began. For the kincade fire burning near geyserville, temperatures will be in the 80s there today and this will pick up after 8 pm tonight, gusts up to 80 mph and humidity down as low as 19 in the afternoon hours because the wind will be coming off of the sierra bringing with it the dry air, no moisture unfortunately and we do have unhealthy air quality for pretty much everybody as a result of the smoke to have a spare the air alert in effect and he heard earlier from the air Quality Management district. That is the north and east bay, the coast, santa cruz mountains, all will be affected with wind up to 30 mph sustained and gusts 80 mph which is why we are facing a high wind warning. Not just an advisory and that warning is in red, it goes over to parts of marin, sonoma, napa and lake county, it goes into effect at eight tonight, host of the wind will kick in during the late hours of the evening and into the Early Morning of sunday. The kincade fire is running and Sonoma County and going towards lake county so it is not a great day, flames will kick up, temperatures in the 80s and were looking at those winds where we will have gusts up to 80 mph into monday morning, low humidity, 19 by midday, because of the wind off of the sierras that is so dry. Calfire said containment is still at 5 , at least 49 buildings have been destroyed and another 600 are threatened. The cause is under investigation but pg andy said one of its transmission lines in the area malfunctioned. The air Quality Management district said that smoke from the kincade fire could reach much of the bay area today and a spare the air alert is in effect for today and likely tomorrow. A quick update on other wildfires, three are fully contained which include the mere fire, as a fire at spring lake and the nelson fire. But in San Bernardino county the 145 acre old water fire is still 85 contained, evacuations have been lifted. In Los Angeles County the tick fire has burned more than 4000 acres in the Santa Clarita valley and at least six structures are destroyed seven others damaged, the tick fire is 10 contained.
