The big problem right now is they havent found a car down below. The search is on by land, sea, and air. Authorities in San Mateo County are trying to find out what happened to a car that may have gone over a cliff. The Fire Department says one witness reported seeing a dark car driving north on highway 1, speed up, and go off the cliff. Authorities found car parts in the surf, but its unclear where they came from. They said he was a credible witness, but again no other evidence indicates that this actually happened. The debris could be connected to what happened today or it could not. Reporter the surf is strong at the base of the cliff. The coast guard has boats in the water and a helicopter above working to solve the mystery. The coast guard is asking if anyone knows of a person who might have been in a green lexus vehicle thats overdue or theyre not sure where they are to please give the coast guard a call. Some believe a homeless encampment nearby is pushing them to sleep here. Not everybody is a criminal or doing bad things. Bart Police Arrested an oakland man on suspicion of attempted murder after they say he attacked a homeless woman last night. Officers responded to the richmond station around 10 00 last night and arrested juan huerta of oakland. Hes suspected of punching and kicking the homeless woman who was on the platform. Theyre seeking an attempted murder charge based on statements made and evidence. San Bernardino Police are looking for those 2 men who allegedly snatched several lap taps at a best buy la night. Reporter the 3 oakland mothers who have moved into this home on magnolia street will start their new year here inside this home in west oakland as the judge took their case into consideration. An eviction notice remains plasters to the door, but the women and children inside get to stay for now. Reporter inside a hayward courtroom, an attorney for Wedgewood Properties that owns the home says this is a cut and dry case, that the oakland moms for housing do not have a claim. Its a statutory proceeding, the statute makes it very clear what facts are required to establish a valid claim. Was she in possession of the property and does she have a rental agreement. Reporter attorneys for the moms currently occupying the home say the housing crisis has reached the point much like in brown versus the board of education where the courts need to step in. We are at that point needing the courts to intercede as they have in other jurisdictions. Reporter the San Pablo Reservoir is 75 percent full, but its really not a good indicator of how much water we have because these levels are artificial. The utility pumps water in and out depending on the need. But after all the rain, how much water do we have . The east bay municipal Water District known as mud keeps an eye on water to see where its coming from. The fall started off particularly dry. October and november were bone dry particularly in the east bay, but december has more than made up for that. Weve had a few big rainstorms, so the levels locally and up country look great. Reporter and up country is the real story. The snow in the water shed high above the dam. The snow pack this year looks really good. Its about 140 percent of average which is fantastic. That water again is kind of banked in the snow, so we rely on that for run off throughout the spring. Reporter the valley Water District in santa clara has much the same story with reservoirs 76 percent full and heading into 2020 with more water in the reservoirs than they did in 2019. The marin municipal district is in even better shape reporting current storage of 68,931acre feet of water or 115 percent of the average for this date. But east bay mud still cautions. The fact that the reservoirs are relatively full bodes well r thsystem, but people should still conserve water for the long run. Reporter in oakland, don ford, kpix 5. Since were talking about this, we might as well talk about the weather, and heres mr. Peck. We picked up about 160 percent of the average rainfall for the north bay in the month of december. That was the exaggeration. Most other locations didnt quite do that well. Pretty much right on the mark for average in San Francisco and in san jose only about 77 percent of average for december. I know it felt like a very rainy december. Especially in the north bay. Were watching up on the water year as a whole as dons story gave a pretty good idea of sharing some of that information with us. 62 today for inland highs. A little below average. The morning lows should be right on mark in the upper 30s. Santa rosa going down to 38 tomorrow morning. Same number in livermore. Concord 39. Most of the rest of the bay comes in in the 40s and the daytime highs tomorrow bring us right back up to where we were today. Low 60s inland, but other than that its pretty much mid to upper 50s and right where we should be. Lets talk about the next small opportunity for rain.
