The prior two sessions, attending rallies. Both fizzled out. Today, those signs of that as the stock market plunges in the early going. Growing list of u. S. Companies reporting the potential impacts of the coronavirus on their earnings. My, soft the latest. Th tire tech sector, especially pc related stocks. Intel, which provides chips for windows computers, it is seen its stock drop on that news. Goldman sachs is now forecasting that u. S. Earnings growth in 2020 will be zero. It says that if it does grow into a pandemic, we could see a recession later this year before economy bounces back in early 2021. Not the best of news. And with the stock market pledging this morning, market is officially in a crunch. 10 from its recent highs. The dow dropping 535 points. Nasdaq down 234 points. The s p temperament by 68 points. Uc davis teaching assistants are set to begin a grading strike for this quarter. They say they will be withholding grades until a cost ofliving adjustment is made to their paper the davis graduate students are the third group to join the strike following the first steps of teaching assistants at uc santa cruz and uc santa barbara. Coding schools are popping up all over the country. And here in the bay area, promising a fast track to a six figure engineering job. This morning, the state just filed a complaint against a school in San Francisco. It is against the holberton school. It is accused of obtaining an approval to operate by fraud. Essence along with two former students say they parked holberton over other schools because they could study first and pay later. Well, the school also clearly advertised that it has no teachers and no formal courses. We were told that this was a one class curriculum. Come to find out that a lot of the curriculum consists of google links. How did you learn how to code . We taught ourselves and each other. It was like lord of the flies. After the foundational construction that they say that there was very little help in finding an internship or a job. After dozens of students filed complaints the state issued an emergency decision ordering the school to cease enrollment of their students based on an immediate danger to the publics health, safety, and welfare. That was followed by an accusation that holberton engaged in prohibitive business practices. Holberton appealed the decision and is now allowed to continue building new students on a modified and discounted program that no longer closed career track. The school turned down our request for an interview, citing the states pending complaint, instead preferring us to one of its satisfied students. It is 4 6 47. And taking a look at the bay bridge toll plaza right now, the backup, usual backup, because the metering lights are on. Once you pass that toll plaza, it is looking like a 12 minute drive.
