Our temperatures are in the 50s this morning. From the upper 50s from concord, oakland, san jose. Mid 50s for livermore and San Francisco and 50 degrees for santa rosa. So we are looking at a dense fog advisory for the coast as well as into San Francisco. The visibility a quarter mile or less. Please be safe. That dense fog advisory until 10 00 a. M. Because we are looking at very unhealthy air for redwood city and down through san jose and the east bay, fremont, the tri valley, from pleasanton up through concord and walnut creek. This one burning north of sacramento is now the largest in california history. At almost 500,000 acres. The august complex started as more than 30 separate fires in the mendocino National Forest caused by lightning. Its burning in glen, mendocino, lake, tehama and trinity counties and its destroyed 26 structures. One person has been killed and while its the largest in size, its nowhere near as destructive as the others that weve seen over the past few years. So to that fire now burning near lake oroville, where about 20,000 people are still evacuated right now. Another person has been confirmed dead. A 16yearold. He is the teen that we heard from his mom yesterday morning when he was missing. So now ten people confirmed dead and 16 still unaccounted for this morning. And at least 2,000 buildings have been destroyed. Of course, it is the smoke from those fires coming here to the bay area. Causing a lot of problems for our air quality and katie has more on that. Reporter yeah, anne, today the air quality in San Francisco and around the bay area considered very unhealthy when were looking at the air quality index. Which is almost double whammy for local businesses that were first dealing with covid19 restrictions and now the bad air. Its kind of ironic that you know, the city has been saying that its unsafe to work out inside. And therefore, telling us to work out outside. Now were outside and we have to contend with like you mentioned. Unhealthy air. The heat. Reporter local gyms will be able to start operating indoors with limited Capacity Starting monday in San Francisco. But the smoky air is making things really difficult for local restaurants. Right now restaurants are only able to serve gusts outdoor seating areas and the city hasnt announced any plans to change that anytime soon. We have to try to balance the needs of all the stakeholders. So we do have reservations. And guests do want to still go out to eat. We have to take into account the safety and wellbeing of the employees. And so we really watched the situation on an hour by hour basis. That would mark 26 days. Now big question everyone has is you know, were already Wearing Masks because of covid. Will those protect me from this smoky air and unfortunately the answer is no. A slow ride coming out of tracy westbound getting on the 205 over to 680 connector and all the way beyond north flynn. 32 minute drive time. 205 over to 680. If you plan on taking Public Transit everything is on time. But there are some Service Changes happening over the weekend. And next week. For example, b. A. R. T. Will be increasing the frequency of their change of trains during commute hours. That starts on monday. Apparently more and more people are utilizing b. A. R. T. And golden gate transit will be making changes as well on sunday, september 13th. Service adjustments due to covid19. So plan for that. Caltrain, muni, everything is pretty much status quo there. We are gwen dealing with a spare the air alert and poor air quality. Heres mary with more on that. Yeah, thats right. If you thought yesterday morning was bad . Its even worse this morning. So were dealing with one of the worst spots in the world with our air quality extreme smoke that smoke is just trapped at the surface. And were looking at unhealthy to hazardous air quality. Please be safe and try to stay indoors if you can. So you can see those red and purple dots indicating that unhealthy to hazardous air quality so the air quality is worse this morning with that extremely smoky skies. That smoke trapped over our region. That spare the air alert going a record 25 days in a row. And we have all of that smoke, we have foggy conditions and poor visibility. So theres that live look with our Golden Gate Bridge camera. Temperatures are in the 50s as we start off our day. So because of that low visibility, we have a dense fog advisory for the coast and San Francisco until 10 00 a. M. Thats because of the visibility down to a quarter mile or less. Now lets show you how bad it is. Down to near zero for santa rosa as well as for petaluma. Mile and a half at sfo. Also for hayward and livermore and for oakland. A mile and a quarter for napa and a mile and three quarters for concord this morning. So its all because of these weak winds and High Pressure in control. And thats really just trapping that smoke at the surface. Just acting like a lid right over the bay area. And so thats why that smoke is lingering for us. And because of that smoke, we are looking at cooler temperatures. Below average for this time of year. A big difference compared to the dangerous heat that we had earlier this week during the holiday weekend. Now looking at temperatures in the low 70s from santa clara and sunnyvale and cupertino and san jose and los gatos. Upper 60s for campbell and morgan hill. For the east bay, 72 for a high in concord as well as for Pleasant Hill and upper 60s to low 70s for the trivalley. Around the bay, mid 60s for San Francisco as well as for oakland. And for the north bay, upper 60s to low 70s. Upper 60s for santa rosa and napa and 70 for sonoma and petaluma and we are looking at the temperatures very similar. So still below average for your saturday. We will continue with those smoky skies. Likely that spare the air alert extended into tomorrow. We could see a little bit less smoke as we head to the end of the weekend into next week. With that stronger ocean breeze kicking in. Im tracking a couple of weather systems ill show you that on futurecast coming up. All right, mary, thank you. It is 5 50 right now.
