Hour by hour for thanksgiving day, temperatures will be warmest farther inland, but not much cooler around the bay. An offshore breeze kicking in tomorrow afternoon, and that means temperatures should be pretty consistent across the board, just a little bit cooler along the coast. Lets take a look at high temperatures and where they compare to whats normal for the last week of november. Several degrees above average for most of us. The average high temperatures are around 60 degrees. Well take it. It may not feel that much above average because that breeze is going to keep things feeling a bit cooler. Make sure youre layered up appropriately. Low to mid60s in the Santa Clara Valley as well. Mostly mid60s for the trivalley a few spots cooler. Upper 60s possible east of mt. Diablo. Only upper 50s for lakeport and clear lake. A little bit cool ter farther north you go because you dont get as much marine influence. Temperatures stay consistent through the weekend and early next week. Not much changes, whether its inland, by the bay or along the coast. And what you dont see any of in the entire sevenday forecast is a chance of rain. Maybe a few sprinkles out of passing clouds for the north bay on monday. The owner of glen allen star decided to give First Responders a little star treatment. Were just right outside of glen allen star. You can see right behind me, were still standing. Reporter barry got the order to close his sonoma restaurant temporarily when the glass fire swept through the north bay, destroying hundreds of homes. Were just unable to operate. Even though the fires didnt come close to us, we were just not open. Reporter but the chef proprietor of glen allen star and park avenue catering wanted to do something positive. And our first gut response was to feed First Responders. Reporter so he and his staff baked 100 pizzas a day for firefighters, pg e workers, police and other First Responders. Theyre very appreciative, fist pumps, hugs even, and it felt great. Reporter in ten days, glen allen star gave away 1,000 pizzas and partnered with other restaurants to feed emergency crews. And when he publicized his project, 40,000 in donations poured in. It allowed him to keep giving. Feeding people is good for the soul. Reporter susan runs First Responders resiliency inc. She says he has provided hundreds of free meals at her workshops that train Emergency Personnel to cope with trauma in their highstress jobs. That desire to serve others in a way that is not just for the moment in the limelight, thats all about character and integrity. Reporter he says all hes doing is thanking his community for helping keep his business afloat during the pandemic with takeout and dining outside in the cold and rain. This community, for as much as its been through, they really stand up and they really support you. Our top story this evening, we could be just weeks away from the first covid vaccines in the bay area. Kpix 5s andria borba joins us now with those details, andria . Reporter well, ken and elizabeth, that vaccine could come to the bay area to Health Care Workers here as soon as december 14th. The folks here at ucsf think its more likely to be the third week of december somewhere around the 20th. Ucsf and zuckerberg San Francisco general will be among the seven california hospitals to get an early allocation of the pfizer coronavirus vaccine. But first, the food and Drug Administration must grant an emergency use authorization. The next meeting is december 10th. Until the fda officially acts, no one will be getting the vaccine from that stockpile. Reporter ucsf says it is ready and believes it could have the vaccine three to seven days after emergency use is granted. The vaccine would arrive from pfizer michigan on a truck. Its under very low freezer storage, so it would be very hard to put this on a plane. Reporter those vaccines will be packed in 80 pounds of dry ice palettes and be put immediately into ultra cold storage freezers. The chief pharmacy officer says the campus is prepared. We have enough Freezer Capacity for quite a few doses, in the hundreds of thousands of doses. Reporter each 2 milliliter vial holds five doses of dry vaccine that must be thawed and administered within 48 hours of that thaw. It comes in these almost pizza boxes, nine by nine by two inch boxes, and they come stacked in five. So in one of these boxes is about almost 1,000 doses. Reporter its a twoshot mrna vaccine with a second dose needed 21 day that was first injection to fully protect against coronavirus. She says the Health System does not know how many doses will be in that initial allocation, but the Health System has a plan for distribution.
