And alameda county, distric attorney pamela price announced a new plan to tackle organized retail theft. Police say she ha heard the communitys frustrations and that her offic has not done enough to address rampant breakins. In oakland and across alameda county, the das office was recently awarde 2 million from the state to fight retail crime and price plans to match that for a total of 4 million. The investment will fund two dedicated retail theft prosecutors and two inspectors. In keeping with the major part of prices platform, the money will support a nonprofit Restorative Justice program to help get to the root cause. So that we are having the opportunity to interrupt thefts at the lower level, while at th same time, focusing our efforts on, how do we stop it through organized retail and how do we choke off the demand that is driving a lot of what we see happening in our communities. You may remember oakland missed out on state grant money to fight retail theft because i missed a deadline. Kaiser permanente and labor unions have reached a tentative deal. This comes after 75,000 workers went on a three day strike last week including workers right here in the bay area. Details of the deal have not been released. The union ha been seeking better pay and improved Staffing Levels hospitals and other facilities. San francisco teachers are step closer to walking up the job. 97 voted to go on strike if they cant reach a new contract deal with the district the union is demanding better pay and more manageable workloads. For its part, the district says it is committed t honoring the needs of both employees and students. The nex targeting session is set for monday. We are starting up this morning dry.
