Ordered over the weekend because the fire grew the winds whipped up and there are about 80,000 structures in harms way right now thats why so many people are on the move james, yeah, and its incredible to think the. Just the sheer geography of the mandatory evacuation area mean thats what this map shows us right now its this entire area in purple which has grown massively in size since weve last look at this on friday when the fire first broke out it was just this upper left corner theres upper corner that was under mandatory Evacuation Order. Now course it extends all the way up to the coast and as you can see it stretches. Well south from where it was just 2 days ago now encroaching into northern portions of sonoma couy which is kind of scary. Lets zoom in here just a touch want to focus in on where the fire is burning really where has burned but where its currently burning now and thats what these callers help to illustrate the lighter the color, the older the flame and you can see certainly when it broke out later a last week thats where were seeing some of these pillar dot, but its the dark red ones those are the current fires that are burning right now and you can see over the weekend. They have certainly grown in the direction that takes us south and also southwest, which puts us dangerous close to some of these one on one communities. We already knew that geyserville had been under mandatory Evacuation Order that was last friday but then over the weekend we had communities like healdsburg just to the south and winds are as well under a mandatory Evacuation Orders and now northern portions of santa rosa with pull the map up a bit center up on santa rosa, well zoom in one more level because i want to point out where in the city of santa rosa we have those mandatory Evacuation Orders. They are the northern section which includes the Fountain Grove community and we also have certain sections just to the west of one oh one, which includes the. Which includes the areas that burned out in 2017 coffey park. So coffey park and now and a Fountain Grove, those areas now also under mandatory Evacuation Orders in those poor folks are trying to rebuild. Were now dealing with again deja vu all over again as the saying goes and hopefully these dont continue to grow the mandatory Evacuation Orders but it could very well depending on how the winds shape up over course of the week ahead daryn well just as hundreds of 1000 people are moving out of the area. James, the smoke is moving on. The area as well drifting here into the closer to the bay area and right into San Francisco. Absolutely now that smoke is settling in as winds have calmed down now really the only downside of calmer winds as the fact that now you have poor air quality thats really going to be expanding it had been limited because yesterday we saw so many the smoke umes making their way out to the coast right its a little bit last night for the east bay and portions that are cases that big surprise since weve been on the air the smoke out the east bay has gotten a lot worse really has been and youre going to see it spreading across other parts of the bay area, some of the spots that are still in green, definitely not going to be so good this time all of that bad look at that and then into San Francisco as well. Yes looking at the Golden Gate Bridge right now it is just really socked in there a San FranciscoOakland Berkeley on up the richmond were we have the fire yesterday at the car keen is a definitely seeing an impact from just of those deeper reds. Thats where its the worst currently can see those of you richmond on up the relay house so youre saying because we dont have the wind thats good for the firefighters, its bad for the bay area because of all the smoke. What are we are see this all day this kind sitting on us just getting worse and worse through the day and through the night help winds pick up tomorrow that it will finally stir now kind of like we had this weekend we started the weekend with the poor air quality the calmer winds, the winds picked up and at least a clear this out temporarily now that the winds have calmed down were looking at the port air again i so not a lot of wind today have a heat but the heat is going to be actually pretty good today well be looking at 70s for your highs. So this is actually going the really good news for those of you that are without power you dont worry about 80s or 90s. The Golden Gate Bridge just one of many spots that are on on the hazier side this morning just look at out towards the north bay in marine county and you can see how pour that air quality is becoming up there in county was actually pretty fine this morning, but its not going to stay that way as the smoke just settles into the bay so limit Outdoor Activities as much as possible even though its going to be feeling a lot better with lighter winds, cooler temperatures its not going to be feeling a lot better as youre breathing a poor area and winds definitely calmer around the vicinity of the kincade fire this morning having calm down across the north bay in marine county as well as out towards the napa county. Now if only 3 Miles Per Hour for your winds right now and also come around to the east bay, so that smoke that is still being put up is just going to settle up with us now for a couple of days or at least until tomorrow when that wind picks back up. Red flag warning set to expire at 11 00am as winds continue to come down we already saw a wind advisories expiring tomorrow though as those winds pick back up likely to see red flag warnings going back into effect as well some wind advisories. Look at this midday tomorrow we start to see winds kicking back up into the afternoon and evening some of our strongest of winds gusting into a 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour range regularly. He cussed at 50 Miles Per Hour this time to not as significant as this weekends winds and certainly not lasting as long, but still something to talk about especially when it comes to this potentially a spreading the kincade fire even further 70s for your highs today, so well be feeling better out there. This is great news for those of you without power, dont have to worry about 80s or 90s just 70s this afternoon. Daria all right, lets go out live. And go to Sarah Stinson shes been on the fire lines this morning. Right on them actually seen homes go up in flames and. Also has saved my calling 911 where are you right now and you look close to those lame sarah. Theres all these different neighborhoods. I dont want i dont list here if you can hear me i dont want to lose your live shot but maybe try to stay still with the mike, i know this has been a few connection because she is a upon the winds are in santa rosa line there and help has in the hills which is where this fire has really been burning out of control. This is a video on shiloh road where sarah called 911 and and really was able to save this one house this after she had just been down the road and seen a big home that was completely destroyed by the fire. It was a total loss. She started looking around you cant get into this area, its only for firefighters and media. But the Fire Fighters have gone back to get more water and thats when she saw this fire flare up. And was able to call and you can see the backyard around flames but see how theyre not going down and they say the home this was a 59 oh 5 shiloh ridge and so she was. Happy to report that that home was thankfully say the firefighters jumped on it fairly quickly to some minimal damage to the back so weve got our live crews fanned out in the fire zone where youre not able to go well continue to show you. The areas that have been lost or saving give you locations with street numbers, everything if we can which is a great resource for you. And also another great resource in this time when a lot of people are not watching on their tv because pair, 2 Million People without power tonight, you can rely on kron on its a streaming news Service Commercial free and its free to you to download that way you can watch on your mobile device. And lets get the update on the latest situation with traffic this morning. I know robin been following that the Traffic Center got rob and yes i just want to mention for folks traveling through the north bay 3 hills bergen winds are one on one is back open, you know they shut it down yesterday because of poor visibility. He did not have to worry about that for now now what if they close it again well definitely let you know that north and south one oh one completely open the bay bridge toll plaza is open to but its low we have a lot of heavy traffic here spilling in from the maze. You will see slowing from all connectors its pretty tight skill of the inclined to checking in on the san mateo bridge, no problems for you leaving hayward just going to be sitting in traffic from the nimitz on to 92 and its like that all the way through foster city connecting with one oh one in san mateo really quick peak at one oh one in San Francisco, its getting crowded from south San Francisco often on to the 80 split and 2. 80 a little busy now north of highway one through the one oh one split in Little Pockets to the bottom of the 2. 80 extension as you head into downtown San Francisco. But no major accidents working james darya. Again want to keep you updated on the situation in Southern California because they are dealing with wildfires as well this is just outside la and our sister station ktla is offering us live pictures from their chopper local get it back up here in a second. We have some video we can share with you what it looked like overnight as this broke out early this morning 02 30am in the morning near the 4 o 5 freeway near the getty museum which is where there are a lot of big mansions its north of sunset boulevard. And west of 4 oh 5 if you know where that is those folks on evacuated 3, 3, 30 in the morning. Theyre all out their homes, however we have seen this a encroach upon real Populated Areas in la so theyre fighting the fire says house just like were up here in northern california. So well be back with more as we continue here on the kron 00 04am morning news. Ah, mr. Resourceful, brownbagging it. So why you paying so much for wireless . I dont know. The new Tracfone Wireless gives you all kinds of control. Leftovers . Tracfone lets you keep your leftover data each month. What are you doing . Unlimited carryover data hey do you know you can get unlimited talk and text on americas best 4g lte networks for 20, no contract . Unlimited talk . I like that because on sundays you know i gotta talk to mama, then on. This is your wakeup call, people. The new Tracfone Wireless. Now youre in control. Were back with the breaking news this morning, not only we following the fires to the north and some of the fires that broke out in the east paper also tracking the Power Outages as well we have the Public Safety power shutoff implemented by pg e all these purple icons represent communities in areas where the power has been completely shut off to try and prevent the spread of wildfires and the eruptions of new ones and you can see it encompasses the entire bay area in the east bay, we have a fire. Prevention measures have been put into place a pg e has shut off areas like lafayette, all along 20 form where we saw some of the fires break out over the weekend. We also have the entire 6. 80 corridor really for martinez down towards dublin in pleasanton the east bay shoreline, the south bay hills and the peninsula hills too. To say nothing of all of the areas in the north bay that are without power. So the situation Going Forward is today the winds are expected to calm down which again is the key component for pg es decision to cut off the power, which means some communities may see their lines re energized and power returning to some select communities. Again is all dependent on whether pg e crews can get out there to inspect the line and okay that community to have power restored. The problem is in less than one about a day and a half or looking at tuesday night another wind event which could prompt pga to shut power off once again. So were going to have 2 scenarios one where some communities will be brought back online only to have their power turned back off again tuesday night but at least you get that brief period to try to recharge batteries maybe trying to do things with the electricity while you can. But theyll be other communities to that have the power currently shut off that wont have a chance to get their power turned back on before the next psps come tuesday night which means you could be without power for most of the week ahead, its something youre gonna have to just follow closely. We are certainly going to be doing that here in our studios and trying to relay that information to you as it comes in from pga. So stay tuned him, its so frustrating, you know for a lot of people ive heard a lot of complaints. Stay. Try to make sense of who has power who doesnt areas that are closer to where the fires are for example like santa rosa, still have power yet you go farther south and marin county doesnt have power 99 of them. And now theyre saying again like james just said stand by because we could have another outage. The next event is october 20 knife. And that between 0 800 9 order the morning. And it ends roughly october 30th at 10 oclock. So similar to this event the footprint is similar customer counts are a little bit different little less impact than what weve experienced so far with this event. But the timing will be similar were will have areas of the state that come into play where we need to be energized earlier than some other air areas. So were working with the Meteorology Team and running all of our advanced analytics and looking at our forecast models to make good informed decisions. Reference yesterday. We do not want to interrupt any customers any earlier than we need to. So theyre just saying you know you gotta stay tuned, and its fine area lot watching pg talk and you have the interpreter there that you know theres old lady lives next door to me shes you know maybe 90. They say neighbors, help neighbors, i went to her because you know you dont know, especially older and to get to she didnt have a cell phone does she have oxygen check on your neighbor did they have a walker i just said oxygen. Thats another thing theyre quality so make sure you check on your neighbors because the air quality is going to worst today with those winds dying down. Fact we got the map here. Johns been looking its just been getting worse and worse throughout the morning guys look at that deep red that youre seeing from richmond on up through ville a. Orange in areas like Oakland Berkeley, San Francisco. This is all stuff that you are feeling as youre stepping outside your breathing it in i know i as i outside you can just feel it this morning youve got even even see all the little flecks of ash that are coming down from time to time you know thats going into your lungs, outside for any long period of time just look at this Golden Gate Bridge cam that pulled up right here guys site we can take a look at that as in haiti, so bad this a live rich, lets get a look at that. The it just that hes cant even see out to the brit had been sunday more. So it is settled and it noticeably through the morning so far. Now we were talking about this wind event come tuesday night which again could proper power shut off, but at least the one Silver Lining guess maybe can help clear the air out a little bit things actually and the rest to get straw. So was and whats going to the unfortunate thing about the weather lately is when the wind comes down the side effect is the smoke but when the wind picks back up the smoke clears out other than that the wind is a very bad thing and it will be picking up come tomorrow and its going to be our 3rd a wind event in just a week. We are going to see as strong of winds this time around and the event isnt going to last quite as long as what we saw over the weekend. So a less significant event but still significant enough to likely be seeing some red flag warnings and definitely be seeing some risks to Sonoma County as the kincade fire still is only 5 contained this is tomorrow afternoon right here wind starting to pick back up at this point really starting to kick into gear towards tomorrow night and into wednesday, this is when your regular gas will be seen in the north bay for 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour. Like to be sing peak gusts around 50 Miles Per Hour compare that to the 70 to 80 Miles Per Hour gusts over the weekend and yet not quite as windy but enough to be causing many for those fire of battling the kincade fire up in the north bay, red flag warnings expiring today at 11 00am so just a couple more hours with those red flag warnings winds will continue to calm in air quality is going to be an issue replacing red flag warnings and wind advisories with a spare the air alert across the bay area today is thats going to be something that is really causing issues, especially for those of you with respiratory conditions. A bit of good news temperatures, not as hot as they have been with 60s and 70s for daytime highs today, many parts of the bay that are experiencing Power Outages today will be doing so with temperatures that wont be oppressively hot. We can handle some 70s into the afternoon. So as we push into the afternoon and youre likely still without power at least we do have this is a comfort your daytime highs not going to be too uncomfortable were just talking 70s at the warmest nap at 73 sonoma at 74 santa rosa in petaluma also each peaking at 74 today thats the way were going to stay throughout the rest of your work week at least mid to low 70s at our warmest tomorrow afternoon into wednesday winds really picking up thursday looks to be a lot calmer for halloween and then the weekend ahead gradually getting a bit warmer. But yes, the biggest threat in this forecast as those winds picking up tomorrow afternoon and lasting through wednesday morning. Robin. Were heading over to the richmond sandra fell where traffic has. Magically thinned out i was looking back on my traffic tracker the math system make sure there is Nothing Holding folks back that i miss but nothings there so it looks leaving richmond all the way through the tolls across the span into the north bay. Early clearing for now here on 5 west at the toll 7 minutes, very fast off to one oh one the bay bridge traffic, the complete opposite its full. Its fact its backed up through the maze 10 minutes to make it in off to fremont street thats a good drive time but do expected to go up and down throughout your morning commute. Thats just some increasing numbers all around the bay area livermore to dublin that looks really good. Its only 12 minutes, but dublin to fremont a lot of stopping a traffic for south 6. 80 were almost up to 30 minutes than nimitz roughly in our from to 38 to 37 and then leaving to 37 leaving milpitas thats picking up as well, but no problems right now youre averaging about 15 minutes between 81 on one and sonny bill darnya. And the traffic was a mess over the weekend because of new fires that were sparked across the bay area yesterday in vallejo there was this fire that burned homes near the glen cove area and a child i a. It forced the closure of the car keen as bridge for 3 hours hours while they fought that fire. It burned the campus of the California Maritime Academy you can see the damage and in addition to one building that was gutted several cars were destroyed. They were able to then reopen the lanes of the car king as bridge. A fire broke out near crockett to that one burned about 200 acres and there were 2 small fires that destroyed tennis. One building there at the tennis club, the roof of a home and 2 outbuildings this one was in lafayette. And it was it behind that has goes on camino blow. It was only about 5 kurz because the contra costa Fire Fighters got out there not to down real quickly they also though found several downed power. Evacuations were ordered their life get for time. Those have been lifted. But as we said there are so many that are not lifted here again 200,000 people in the bay area. Air still under Evacuation Order this morning. Have also been lifted to for a neighborhood in southern martinez after this 50 acre fire broke out you can see it right up next to the road broke out on a hybrid aven right near forest way. It was reported around 4 yesterday afternoon but the crews were able to jump on it they came in from oakland from hayward they helped of cocoa fire in getting the stepped out quickly, no structures were damaged which is the great news. And again looks like that fire is out our were going take a quick break in a 20 to got to tell you though just got some new. The regarding power restoration stay tuned. Were following this morning as the fires of course that are burning in Sonoma County the contained fire that has exploded in size nearly doubling to more than 66,000 acres fire containment though only at so the firefighting effort still has a long way to go to try to get the upper hand on this and have a little bit limited amount of time because the winds do calm down today, but they reinvigorate come tuesday nieht into wednesday and who knows how much bigger the fire may grow when that event hits. Yeah thats the prom youre looking at the live shot there and were talking a lot this morning about. The smoke from the fires. How far it is traveling and drifting and the fact that the bay area is going to see that settle already seeing it in San Francisco. Yeah, absolutely its settling. Yesterday a those plumes of were actually aided by the wind and pushing offshore, but now. Its just cooling right at the surface you can see from the Golden Gate Bridge right here, how the haze is sitting right at the surface, there is sunshine up above. But for those of us obviously down here at ground level thats what youre breathing in today which is some very poor air quality across the bay area as those winds as you mention calm down really the only negative effect of calmer winds and all other regards. Its a good thing that we are seeing winds, calming down and were going continue to see calm conditions only calmer into the afternoon. So yeah that means that that poor air quality its going to stay with us through the rest of the day today tonight is also not going to be so great as far as air quality goes in fact really bad across the bay is it just sits with us overnight. Tomorrow winds are going to pick back up. And thats when were going to be looking at our 3rd wind events in just a week kicking into gear at lowes, we dont just honor our military on veterans day. Over the past 5 years, our military discount has saved military families nearly 4 billion dollars. And through our partnerships with the uso, amvets, and operation finally home, we honor our military every day. Big story this morning is the fire that is burning to the north in Sonoma County, but also the fires from yesterday in the east bay that have all combined to make for terrible and look at this map this acts kind of illustrates it very simply the redder the color the worse the air. The more you get towards green the slightly better the air gets for you, but as you can see large sections the bay area right now dealing with what looks to be pretty unhealthy air out there and we dont need me to tell you that you step outside you can see it and im a place you can smell it i know when i was out yesterday maestro within 30 seconds start to get that scratchy yesterday and read it was fun. Also is fine until early this morning. I woke up 87 cisco and i feel like often yeah were going to talk right now with christine resilience from the bay area air quality management. A district on about just where the bad air where is the worst of where is this coming from a good morning. Good morning. So youre saying its not all from the kincade fire even though that is the monster fire burning right now. Right now San Francisco and the east bay are being in marsh. Y a fire in the city ok and that smoke is being carried over towards the city them. It is that we have winds from the northeast thats pushing smoke from the marsh fire into area. How far away is that fire burning. You know, im not sure the defense made the way but its closer than the kincade fire ok guys we are that im seeing impact of course from the kincade fire. In the far north bay. And do you expect the air quality to stay pour throughout the day today which are forecast. We do expect unhealthy air quality throughout the and we watching that closely. But it will unfortunately continue throughout the day. I remember 20 17 when the fire got really bad and people really should be Walking Around with masks or is it at that level. You know we dont recommend them asked as youre a way to protect yourself. People should stay indoors with their windows and doors closed. Its the best way to protect yourself. And then go looking at the week ahead. I know weve got more winds coming our way by what tuesday night into wednesday. I guess from an air quality standpoint is that beneficial or what he would you expect to happen as the week progresses. You know its a tricky forecast right now were still looking at but theres a lot of knock out there and it may just move smoke ok when do you suppose we may get better conditions is it beyond. This week are we kind of just done with this we could just be bad just plan on that. Not sure yet but certainly um people should the smoke and that it may be around for a while and stay indoors with their windows and doors closed all right, thanks a lot. It just depends on you know where the wind blows and dont forget. They were talking about not having containment on this fire in till may be next thursday s november 7th. So with the way its grown in containing only a 5 right now thats going to be the situation is bad air. Evacuations more Power Outages pga is already told us and weve got reporters on the field, lets give you a quick update on the nuts and bolts of the fire and then well get out to the field and talk to us some of our resources out there so the kincade fire whico is the big one burning to the north. Thats the one that nearly doubled in size overnight with a what more than 66,000 acres burned so far containment only about 5 theyre throwing a lot at it. Weve got more than 4,000 fire personnel right now actively fighting this fire they get 10 helicopters, they got more than 400 fire trucks up there. And water tenders to them about 30 water tenders because there is of the power of the Water Supplies been disruptive to a lot of these hill neighborhoods surrounding some of the downtown areas and so they have theory water up into the hills with these water tenders and they completely deplete the tender than the got to bring back some drive back up there again so its just really process of trying to bring water up into the hills to fight the fire and in some cases because only to me and the fire crews are allowed there are crews have spotted several fires one that burned down a home completely was too late but Sarah Stinson spotted another fire at a home and was able to call the firefighters, they got there in time to save the my home from the fire that destroyed the backyard area so were going to get out to those live crews in a minute but first. Lets go to john to get a look more closer into San Francisco. The me. Were going to see some relief yeah guys its a mix of smoke right now and then of the talking about the fire up in the north bay in those evacuations. The bad news about winds coming down really the only bit of bad news of course is that smoke is really settled in with us now and it is definitely a combination that is impacting us currently of a smoke from the kincade fire that as we heard just a moment ago is really settling into the north bay you can see that impact is really impacting up moraine county currently cant hardly see out to the headwinds from our sutro tower right here through the golden gate youre also seeing an impact from some of that smoke that worked its way offshore last night now settling right into the bay and cooling in right above us. So yeah, youre going to be breathing that in through the day maybe a more comfortable day with cooler temperatures and calmer winds. But you do want to limit Outdoor Activities as you will step outside and noticed that affect pretty immediately both as youre breathing it in maybe even that stinging feeling in your eyes because of that wildfire smoke the good news about the winds obviously its not going to result in the rapid spread of the kincade fire such as we did see when those winds just howling over the weekend. But we will be seeing them picking back up so this is the window right here on the for those crews fighting the fire to hopefully take advantage of as much as possible. Calm winds as well for the north bay which you saw just a second ago has seen that smoke is really settling in right now very calm conditions out towards a nap and lena pope valley and middleton what a change from yesterday com as well out to the east bay were smoke is really settled in for walnut creek martinez onto the car teen as on into the delta to really calm compared to yesterdays conditions weve already seen wind advisories expired should be his surprise as those winds fall as much as they have red flag warnings will expire at 11 00am this morning and were going to calm down for about the next 24 hours ahead of winds picking back up tomorrow. Now as that happens it will be our 3rd wind event of just the past 7 days. And yet another opportunity for the kincade fire to grow its not going to be as significant as the winds we saw over the weekend this time around maxing out around 50 Miles Per Hour for the north bay, but wind direction is going to be similar blowing from the north east out towards the coast. So those very strong offshore winds very dry and warm winds as well gus regularly into a range of 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour for the north bay as for your temperatures there mostly in the 50s right now a cool start to this morning, 54 in alameda 52 we have 30s up in the north bay around the contained fire with petaluma and santa rosa in the 30s right now a sign of just how dry the air is over the bay area. Dry hazy and cooler today. Thats really the things youre going to notice most 60s and 70s for daytime highs, upper 60s for San Francisco, oakland and san jose just as hazy as San Francisco with your highs peaking today in the low 70s. Thats a look at your forecast lets go look at traffic with robin and lots of it to john we have a very busy commute. On westbound 92. So if you need to make your way out of hayward over to the peninsula. Youre going to have to sit right there with these folks are just creeping along and starts on the nimitz continues througthe tolls on to the flat section and thats just off and on all the way over to one o one so for now how youre averaging 32 minutes, heres the bay bridge 80 west and its pretty quiet right now we had an injury crash was minor quickly cleared so you are still backed up through the maze and as usual. Its heavier on the oakland side, its not the sticking crowded all the way across checking in on traffic tracker showing you some numbers see if you can find your freeway or at least part of your commute. 5. 80 livermore to dublin looks fantastic gets back on time at 11 minutes. A call to danville slow in Little Pockets but only 26 minutes there, and one oh one from brisbane to San Francisco, averaging 16 minutes. So thats pretty decent will check more coming up you, thanks a lot romney. With more and more people t being evacuated up to 200,000 now more shelters are opening. Each day. Mayor london breed Just Announced and that theres a local Emergency Declaration so shelter is being located in San Francisco. At saint marys cathedral on goff street to help those folks to the north who have been driven from their homes at this shelter. They can accommodate 200 people and that includes pets as well so families and pets are welcome. You dont need any proof of documentation of your citizen or where you live or anything all are welcome at that shelter and thats because we understood there running out. There were shelters in Sonoma County that were already capacity and we understand this morning in world being several more shelters in petaluma some other locations and this is one of those locations all the way down in San Francisco. And as we keep an eye on the fires burning here in the bay area were also tracking the latest at a Southern California because they had a fire that broke out early this morning. Right near the getty center in la this broke out about 2 30 this morning, burning just north of sunset boulevard and west of the 4 o 5 freeway burning were told in the westward direction about 250 acres in size but the worry is the santa ana winds could cause it to explode in size just like we saw the kincade fire to our north. Currently about 3,000 homes are threatened and i just saw an update that cal fires using some of their amphibious aircraft landing them in the Pacific Ocean filling with water and then flying them over the ridge lines here in l a dumping that water on board so thats just one of the resources, theyre utilizing that try to fight that fire these are crazy times and are affected by the fire. And there were more Evacuations Ordered yesterday so many more people that there are now nearly 200,000 people that have been told to evacuate cannot and go back into their homes. 96 structures have been destroyed way mordamage as well, but this is just the ones that burned to the ground like a video you see on the left there that includes 40 homes that are completely lost. And then the other part of the coverage this morning is focused on the power shut off the Public Safety power shutoff by pg e we are getting some optimistic news from the Utility Company this morning, good, certain areas, Santa Cruz Mountains and one section of the east bay may soon see power restored perhaps maybe as early as today which would be great news as san ramon is one of those areas that theyre supposed to getting the lights back on soon captain denton. Carlson with the San Ramon Police is on the phone now good morning captain. Both of you hope youre doing well today. Already gets the all clear that doesnt mean the lights go on right away have you heard anything color. Honed. So the allclear is only related to the weather event itself. Its not related to a restoration. Once the all clear given pg begin inspect their lines that that theyre safe and then once they are safe, theyre re energized and then return power to the area. So san ramon and santa cruz counties have gotten that all clear. Does that get you any idea on at least given his at 2 hours 6 hours 48 hour. This point we really dont know impeding a have not given an estimate on the time restoration the 48 hour window is their goal for complete restoration now certain areas will come back. Based on the line for the been being safe and the energy the company to that my understanding is this all clear has been given to the entire bay area and pg need hoping to restore our as quickly they possibly can. Ok so everybody up Everybody Knows might happen know is i many hours away. Im wondering what you heard from people in your area about the power shut down in san ramon, especially because thats one of the areas that you were affected by a firework near a fire. Right its been frustrating for everyone. But fortunately in situation. Water continues to flow. Continues to flow who really besides being inconvenient related kawhi. It hadnt been a major impact. Folks in our community what had been an impact has been down trees situation. Yeah we been reminding people be safe be aware of your surroundings and make sure that none of these situations that came with a high wind event. Are dangerous to them specifically. I notice that as i was actually driving around san ramon yesterday that were a few trees down and heard reports of whether or not theyve all been cleared out or do we still have some work on that front. That is still continuing right but most of the roadways all been cleared and thats been our focus for the citys Public Works Department making sure that the dangerous situations related to roadways have been cleared. Theyve been working constantly for the last 2436 hours clearing the debris related to the extreme that. I know you one thing thats a pain in the neck gas stations. The gas stations are open. So what i say is whenever you passed by an area that does have power use keep topping up your tank have you been ev even noticing, anybody, stalling or anything like that. Well we have and the one thing that has been positive with this situation is that the past shut off as extreme and that bin and widespread bin is that. Rockets that remain howard throughout this. So people could drive 2 miles to fill up their tank or go take 10 minutes ago little out of their way and find a place that was open to fill it up so that 100 of related. A good all right well thank you so much for joining us this morning and keeping us updated only stay pg situation there captain carlson and hopefully well get full restoration only to probably have a turn back off tuesday as youre doing a great job so thank you for helping keep everybody safe. Part of chalk hill road but no internet no signal side raced out here. But you can see just the hot spots are creating a huge breathing problem as far as the smoky conditions, right now. Firefighters are crisscrossing this area coming in going in this one. Red suv that fire fire actually fremont and you can see there are authorities coming in going absolutely right james and area. Theres there are plenty of checkpoints and only the media and firefighters are allowed. Well green and no caller areas have better air quality but you can definitely make out the 2 zones that are of high concern the kincade fire to the north and center in san Sonoma County. And then also the fires that broke out over the weekend in the east bay you can see all the red there and the smoke that has since filtered across the bay San Francisco from those fires is reduce air quality in San Francisco well hugging my the water and thats what john said was going to happen. Yeah so expect or quality to probably get worse as we head into the afternoon as these winds died down allowing the smoke to kind of just settle into all the nooks and crannies of the bay before they get blown back out again come tuesday night into wednesday lots to track but of course those winds. Press conference to get underway with the very latest details so dont be surprised we break away from whatever were doing to bring that to you as it happens in the meantime, lets update you on what we know so far about the fire in the latest numbers. This fire has grown incredibly in size over the weekend now 66,000 acres and the containment has actually dropped to 5 to what youre seeing here is a live picture. Its just frozen for the second here it takes a. A cycle in every 10 seconds or so and updates and you can see that smoke. Yeah that is really settling in and thats because theres no wind thats good. I mean its good not to have wind whipping the flames but the lack thereof is a problem here in the bay area with all that bad air. This fire as you said james, not only has it grown, but it has been more destructive so far 96 structures has burned to the ground there total losses and that includes 40 homes. Yeah we had 2 firefighters injured as well one bad enough there to go to the hospital. And be treated and this is video out of Sonoma County this morning as a firefighter a sheriffs deputy was driving through. Were the Fire Fighters and the media are the only ones allowed into areas like this that have been evacuated, so this is your best chance to see what standing and whats not and where the fire is most active right now because 200,000 people have been evacuated from these areas that the fire has been spreading and is threatening 80,000 structures. Those people have all been told to get out its a huge unprecedented evacuation james yeah, the size of it is pretty epic especially when you see it on the actual map and thats what we want to share with you right now this purple area is the mandatory evacuation zone. That doesnt even include evacuation warning areas which is actually farther to the south as well but as for the mandatory evacuation area extends from winds are i should say geyserville and the mountains to the east. All the way west right up into the coastline and as far south as northern sectios
