Dan joins us live now in the studio with more dan. Well, pam, the California Department of Public Health targeting Santa Clara County along with 10 others as theyre looking into the surge of new cases the possible. Causes of why these things are happening what theyre doing about it and also where these outbreaks are happening so theyre allowing the public to be able to look into those things more than a 140,000 cases of covid19 have happened in the state of california more than 3,000 of those has happened have happened in Santa Clara County including a 150 deaths in the state is trying to figure out why this is happening. The California Department of Public Health is targeting Santa Clara County along with 10 others for a surge in new cases the south bay county is where the countrys first covid19 death was recorded, but the concern is the growing number of hospitalizations. The state says drivers of this growth could be the increase in testing or people from neighboring counties coming to Santa Clara County for care. Despite the number of hospitalizations going up the increase in the absolute number of patients in hospitals is low considering the amount of people who live in Santa Clara County. As officials monitor these outbreaks people can follow along on a new state website. It points out which counties are being watched and also shows a day to chart tracking the number of tests the number of cases and the rate of positive cases the states goal for Santa Clara County is increasing the public messaging on personal Protection Measures and the risks involved with Mass Gatherings we have to understand were going to be living with this virus for a while ucsf epidemiologist doctor kirsten bevans domingo says. Strong messaging is important as more areas continue to loosen restrictions and reopen but the best way to prevent the spread is to continue wearing Face Coverings or masks what were trying to do is open up. Were trying to open our economies were trying to get back to doing the things we want to be doing and its pretty clear the safest way to do that is for us to be Wearing Masks most of the time. Another cold front going to dive in toward the bay area late in the day, youll notice those high clouds laid the afternoon coming our way its going kind of fall apart as a runs in the bay area but that will help to kick up the winds again by the afternoon as we head through the night tonight, youll see a couple passing clouds throughout the night even a couple patches of fog and then tomorrow youre going to see a mixture of sunshine and some high clouds and temperatures are going to stay down a bit plan on highs only in the 60s and the 70s.
