Creek it looks like traffic is pretty good which will tell you about in a second, but we are seeing triple digit highs it again this afternoon for areas like walnut creek so enjoy your Morning Hours even though we are all that cool this morning. I mean berkeley and timber on or both hovering right around 80 degrees to start your morning. Berkeley having yet to fall out of the 80s during overnight hours. Cloverdale just behind me on the map. Well you fell down to 7080 80 just about 30 minutes ago fairfield double in napa some of our cooler spots at least youve got 60s and thats nice to rev rushing into your window this morning to at least cool the house down a little bit 80s at the coast for your highs 70s for most of our bayside areas and youre seeing it right on the map back to triple digits for a whole lot of us livermore an antioch at one 10 for daytime highs today napa nevado conquered fremont San Jose Mountain view just to name a few. Back to the triple digits now with such hot temperatures it should be no surprise that those excessive heat warnings are still in effect and not just for most of the bay area but really almost the entirety of the region. Its our coastal areas that will be in the that heat advisory is daytime highs that the coastal mostly be in the 80s south bay. Its all triple digits for you and for the east bay as warm as a 110 livermore youll get up to a 110 today as you will also in areas like danville areas richmond pittsburgh mostly 90s for these spots 90s as well for delay, how up in Solano County as you head towards rio vista in dixon and youll be above a 110 degrees today, triple digits for a lot of the north bay where you can see excessive heat warnings remain and right out to the coast. Thats where those heat advisories are well its back to triple digits in novato today as for air quality were Still Holding out a very poor conditions and thats just the next problem. Its not a good day to be doing the barbecue in the backyard, not just because of the heat but because this is what youll be breathing in even as containment grows on bay area wildfires now we have the creek fire fires burning in Southern California that are putting a lot of smoke out our direction as we are seeing winds pushing out this direction. So air quality is not going to be improved over the next few days, not catching a break from that certainly no break from the heat just yet. After all this bad news that i just talked about your sevenday forecast does have some good news believe it or not and ill get to that still to come. Well. Lets talk about the traffic situation or lack thereof i should say look at how light the conditions are the bay bridge toll plaza obviously being labor day so many people are off. You can see the results not a lot of cars heading towards the toll plaza about 8 minutes of the macarthur maze down on to fremont street from the bay bridge. The san mateo bridge, its been Holding Steady all morning. This is about as thick as weve seen it all morning. Those cars on the right side of screen. Those a cause thats the commute direction from the east bay to the peninsula and you can clearly see plenty of space between the cars and even more space of the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, it has picked up as cars are heading from the north bay into San Francisco, but its laughable there. I say laughable because there is no traffic today for good reason labor day. Yeah. All right lets talk more about the heat on this labor day lot of folks will be going outside running the a c but we have another power alert thats going to go into effect this afternoon. Because of the extreme heat we need to conserve energy even though we will see once again triple digit temperatures counterintuitive you want to use your air conditioning Sarah Stinson. When its the hottest but pg e says maybe take your foot off the gas pedal. Yeah its conflicting here right, but i guess you know we have to conserve energy but were out here just burning up and thats why theyve created cooling centers like this one here at the Concord Senior Center you see it says open at 1 oclock until 6 oclock thats going to be at the time when the peak heat hits this area in concord a high of one 09. A lot of us waking up this morning hearing that not feeling very comforted as we get in get we get the best sleep last night. A lot of us dont have air conditioning and we just kind of have to sit there and yusuf and do the best we can at least a dozen bay area cities recorded high temperatures sunday from this heat wave that isnt supposed to go into later this week today should be a few degrees cooler than yesterdays sweltering temps says the National Weather service. But that doesnt mean were going to feel cool and anyway. The excessive heat driving up electricity demand in use put a strain on the Regional Power grid causing kauai us so to create a statewide state to emergency sunday night threatening power outages, but thankfully that was lifted later sunday night consumer conservation was credited with helping avoiding rotating power outages. But extreme heat and wildfires are contributing to increased Energy Demand so of flex alert to consumers is still in effect. This is what you can do to conserve energy take a look at your screen if you have a thermostat said it to 78 degrees or higher man thats hot turn off unnecessary lights close your blinds avoid using electrical appliances. Use fans if you can. But here miserable look up a cooling center in your area again for example here in the east bay conquered Senior Center opening up at 1 oclock until 6 oclock there have Health Checks will make sure your temperature you have to wear a mask and they will to social distancing. To make sure for coronavirus they will be safe and at least you can get in the cooler area, the air because its going to be so hot today one 09 again in concord a high of that later this afternoon. Im live in concord Sarah Stinson kron 4 news i will do what we can thank you sarah. Yeah, the biggest liars always the bay area you dont need air conditioning yes, you do take a look at this. So many people probably have air conditioning but instead they chose to go to ocean beach this is over the weekend as they celebrated burning man and because of this gathering, San Francisco mayor london breed she closed the parking lots at ocean beach. Mayor breed called the celebration reckless and selfish in the wake of the pandemic but the clothes parking lots were not enough to keep people away kron fours dan thorn reports. San franciscos ocean beach packed with people looking for a cooler low cow. The close parking lots were no match for determined beachgoers trying to avoid record setting heat, its see at home it was way too hot stay home. And we wanted to give a fresh so we decided to hit the beach a huge burning man event saturday night forced mayor london breed to close down the parking lot angered by the hundreds of party years ignoring covid19 Health Guidelines she was looking to avoid a repeat. However on sunday beachgoers were forced to scramble to find parking elsewhere if that be just not be open the park nice of you know it was a bad idea because weve got this people still came out. Enjoy the day get refreshed. The outdoors you can stay home. I dont we dont have i dont have lot of them just people who went to the beach they say its important to follow the guidelines and dont have parties that ruined it r for everyone i think it ma not be out here you need to be way to thos e surveyed in did get on with your family u reporting in San Francisco. Dan thorn kron 4 news. Well crews are battling nearly 2 dozen wildfires across the state including the creek fifi which exploded over the weekend down in Fresno County. We havent seen the video weve got some of it here for you. It shows what hikers saw as they were escaping the fire atthat was burning there in the Sierra National forest. The fire is forcing evacuations as well its burned 73,000 acres 0 containment right now. We have governor Gavin Newsome declaring a state of emergency for Fresno Madera and mariposa counties and members of the California National guard had to rescue more than 200 people by helicopter. As that fire left him trapped there at a popular campground inside that park officials with the guards say theyve never experience anything like this. And to see all of the interagency partners come together with the amount of thresources with the uncertaint of what was actually going to come off the helicopter. There were plenty of resources to ensure that all were provided the care that they needed. A local Fire Departments are in fresno to help with the creek fire as well with members of the Santa Rosa Fire Department pack up saturday and head to that fire. This is video of them loading up the piedmont Fire DepartmentAlameda County also lent a helping hand as well. Cal fire says this year has been the worst year for wildfires in our States History more than 2 million acres have burned so far across the state in his only september. John lawrence has the story. A pyrocumulus cloud hovering over california caused by major wildfires. This labor day weekend. According to cal fi fire more than 2 million acres in the state have been scorched does far this year a record and things are likely to ease anytime soon 3 of the 4 largest fires in california hhrntory are burning right now. And the he in triple digits off the charts for even september and were not even close to the peak of the wildfire season, the eldorado fire in San Bernardino area and the fastmoving valley fire and hopital has some residents getting ready to evacuate just exploded and came up to almost wear them now. The intensity of the he was just crazy down. There a while and now start the creek fire is spreading rapidly through the Sierra National forest for the California National guard rescued more than 220 people who are trapped in the mammoth pull reservoir recreatioioioare to see. All of the interagency partners come together with the amount of resources with the uncertainty of what was actually going to come off the helicopter. There were plenty of resources to ensure that all were provided the care that they needed im John Lawrence reporting. Well despite the heat fire crews are making progress on containing the 3 major fires burninin here in the bay area. Look at your screen. The lnu lightning complex fire in the north bay now 91 contained. Yes, its burned more than 375,000 acres, but the good alws is that all Evacuation Orders and warnings for that fire have now been lifted so great progress there. The acc the scu complex fire in the east bay and south bay now 92 chntained almost 400,000 acres burnededin that fire. And the czu lightning complex fires, san mateo county. And santa cruz counties now 72 contained, thats been a real tough one for firefighters and then lastly we have the woodward fire. At 93 containment thats the one out of the Point Reyes National seashore 4800 acres burned but theyre close to getting it fully surrounded. Well take a break here at 6. 11 still ahead students in some Bay Area School districts will be returning back to in person classes tomorrow. Well have details on that coming up. And after the break as well social distancing concerns at dolores park in San Francisco. As is expected to be packed once again today for the holiday. And today will yes that yet again be another scorcher across the bay. We are looking at triple digits in san jose 90s for oakland upper 80s for dear california, we know these are challenging times. And with summer here, energy bills are rising. Together, we can save energy and money. By taking steps to stay cool while using less. Keep safe and keep it golden. We are back time now is 6. 14 and heres some of the video from over the weekend where crowds took over the open spaces there delores park in San Francisco. Everybody trying to beat the heat enjoy a Holiday Weekend. But officials of course still having to remind everyone to socially distance and to wear their masks if theyre going outside. But in the more popular spots in the city, we have social distancing, providing a challenge and some people are still out in crowds without masks and we saw some of that fact park rangers were out to make sure that those people follow the rules, theyre hanging out and again here video of them, not Wearing Masks like they should be there were social distancing circles were painted on the grass you can see some of that here and a lot of folks were trying to at least adhere to that but even in the time of covid19 some park or say that outside is better than inside. Ive been here pretty often and i havent gotten it yet so. Hoping for the to everyone they feel is socially distancing and we are and you have the circles on the ground, so i feel like everythings pretty safe even like a like that the large happy i everybody have their masks you know like there. Well i will not be outside one because im afraid of catching covid19 and the shade a few degrees cooler james is that really make a difference the shade over my couch is better than the shade out in a park somewhere where theyre still hot wind blowing. At least in my house second try. Then theres always great or you can always speaking with and you dont have absolutely weve got john in the weather center. If you are going to be out and about today of course wear your sunscreen will can show you how to do that on his own time pretty disgusting that the temperatures today got a sense. Were going to have to protect ourselves today for sure, yes ice cream haha there one in the same yes, anything you can do to cool off im going to be in my house cooling off i dont know how everyones out Walking Around i get so exhausted when its this hot doing all that. Looking outside from berkeley you can see conditions brightening up we are seeing any fog in the cloud cover this morning that would be a sign of some cool air pushing in from the pacific none of that it is hot and dry again as this offshore flow again kicks into gear this afternoon. Berkeley youre starting off your morning at 80 degrees cloverdale youre 78 right now, so we didnt get a lot of overnight cooling for some areas that means if you have those windows open not getting that cool breeze like you want to we do have a couple of cool spots like petaluma at 64 fairfield in dublin in the upper 60s. So at least theres some relief for some of us now of course with those windows open youre leaving yourself susceptible to the port air that has drifted across the bay sure weve seen increased containment on wildfires in her own backyard. We have the creek fire fires burning in Southern California know how that smoke is settling down into the Central Valley and then being pushed out our direction that you do have poor air quality on the peninsula, the south bay and much of the east bay in fact some are hottest areas. Again have some of our worst air quality so those are 2 factors that are not making this the best labor day to be doing a whole lot just rest up and take it easy if you can. We are going to be seeing hot conditions through tomorrow to is this ridge of High Pressure continues to block any sort of sea breeze from really pushing too far inland sure sunset district will be what your nicer spots at 78 monteiro the cool spot in the bay today at 70 degrees. Once you head away from the immediate coastline, its 80s 90s and more so than not triple digits, Mountain View at a 100 Degrees South bay temperatures solid triple digits today with san Jose Milpitas in cupertino each at 102 fremont right at a 100 well livermore at one 10 and youre not the only one at one 10 Livermore Danville is right there with yet very close in san ramon walnut creek and concord oakland 94 today beats the triple digits. You had yesterday. Well vacaville at a 111 pittsburgh. Fairfield in antioch. In the 110 degree club, a club none of us asked to be in. Now tomorrow. We are going to be seeing a slightly cooler temperatures and us are excessive heat warnings do and at 09 00pm tonight now i shouldnt even say cooler because even though we are looking at really from this excessive heat warnings tomorrow, were still going to be in triple digits for a lot of our inland cities with 90s still hanging on right alongside the bay wednesday is when we really see relief thats when daytime highs fall into the 90s inland with 70s by the bay and even cooler come thursday friday and saturday, so yes, there is little bit of good news in this forecast. We just have to wait for it for a few days really next weekend. The start of it is going to be gorgeous so today stay inside know that there is relief around the corner and a better chance to get outside. Well. Picture perfect as far as the traffic. Lets head outside nothing to see here folks is the bay bridge toll plaza sunrise and traffic. Extremely light is being labor day from the bay bridge toll plaza lets go to the san mateo bridge. Where its Holding Steady nothing has changed there. This has been pretty much the volume all morning, those headlights of cars heading from the peninsula across that span and into the east bay, no problems about 30 minutes crossing the san mateo bridge. We are going to monitor the traffic situation, your biggest problem james right now probably not getting a speeding ticket because the roads are so clear, yeah, its tempting in that the step on the gas dont do it dont do it. All right happening tomorrow dont forget with 15 schools in Warren County that will be starting in person classes. On the list we have 12 private schools and 3 Public Schools with students in transitional kindergarten through 6th grade in addition, the special education and alternative Education Programs will also have students in their classrooms as well each school be required to comply of course with the covid19 safety protocol plan for a list of the 15 schools that are reopening for in Person Learning just go to our website kron 4 dot com and at the other end of the bay as we head down to the south bay with the camel Unified School District. Everybody felt fine. But now im super sick. Everyone is sick. I just wish we had been more careful. It would have been easier than this. So wear a mask. Do what you can outside. Stay six feet apart. Because some things you just cant take back. Do your part to lower the risk. And welcome back as the country deals with the covid19 pandemic one artist is working to bring attention to another epidemic the eu and the u. S. Is dealing with gun violence. Washington correspondent alexandra le mon has the story. Leslie lee is a portland based artist who founded the soul box project after the Las Vegas Strip shooting she began researching statistics about guns and shootings in the u. S. , the servers are so huge. Theres no way that people can comprehend these kinds of numbers and were talking about 70,000 people a year that are killed or injured by what she decided to depict the problem visually with origami boxes she calls so boxes each one represents a person killed or injured by gunfire in order to have a response you which is. I dont want to be part of this problem and the slovaks project has a second purpose people who have been impacted by gun violence and participate in making the boxes say its helping them heal really did giacomo is a surgeon in Northern California who works with gunshot victims if that person loses their life. There is not a lot of time or opportunity in the workplace to acknowledge that lost life she heard about the soul box project from her sister jess obviously resonated with me to giacomo says now she and her coworkers are able to process their emotions by folding the boxes exhibitions are. Life changing anyone who wants to get involved can find information on soul box project dot org. In washington, alexandra le mon. Well take a break here at 6. 27 and a reminder how hot it will be this afternoon john travel will have your complete forecast coming up in a minute talk more about those triple digit we love our new home. Theres so much space. We have a guestroom now. But, we have aunts. Youre slouching again, ted. Expired, expired. Expired. Thanks, aunt bonnie. Its a lot of house. I hope you can keep it clean. At least geico makes bundling our home and Car Insurance easy. Which helps us save a lot of money oh, teddy. Did you get my friend request . Uh, ill have to check. doorbell ringing aunt jonis here for bundling made easy, go to geico. Com. Hello . And welcome back. Thank you for joining us at the half hour mark for the kron 00 04am morning news and if you are just joining us. Lets get you the forecast because youll certainly need to know about it today john as were looking temperatures and people are going to have to be real careful about yeah, an important one to keep updated on guys because just like yesterday todays going to be a dangerously hot one. And also a smoky one across the bay area. Now one of our cooler spots not to say its going to be cool. But the Half Moon Bay will be in the 80s compared to the 90s and triple digits that a lot of the rest of us will see obviously no fog at the coast and the snow marine influence to be pushing into the bay already a warm start for areas like berkeley in cloverdale in the low 80s, currently concord youre at 74 pittsburgh at 71. A lot of times during this heat waves you do get a cool down at night that is not the case this morning so a lot of us are starting off or mornings already on a warm though, and into the afternoon certainly no relief to be found hayward in redwood city each at 97 triple digits in fremont San Jose Mountain view up to napa nevado over to any out just to name a few spots you can see a good solid chunk of the bay well be back to triple digits and above antioch and livers morse case as well as a few other cities. Thats a 110 degrees today likely to see more records shattered. And yet another day with these excessive heat warnings in pink peach areas closer to the coast are heat advisories where we can expect a tease south bay today, its solid triple digits for you while the east bay livermore up to one 1090s closer to the bay itself. We are also going to see that same range of 90s from richmond to 110 degrees in antioch today, one 12 in areas like vacaville and when to dixon and rio vista some of our hottest temperatures in Solano County while also triple digits for many areas in both sonoma and napa counties today once you head to the coast. Thats where some cooler temperatures do remain, but we are still going to be seeing some warmer temperatures at the coast and as per the usual this time of year. Very poor air quality on top of all this heat. Especially a lot of smoke from the creek fire burning in the Sierra Nevada has settled down into the Central Valley. Now being pushed with that offshore flow right into the bay east bay, south bay and peninsula area, some of our worst air quality this morning, likely to remain that way with this highpressure ridge in place you dont have a whole lot of air movement to mix out this pour smoke and air quality that we do have this morning from the 70s and 80s that start to 70s 80s and 90s by noontime today. It will be triple digits for a whole lot of us this afternoon yet again with a tease of the coast and 90s for most of our besides cities. Thats the tough look at your forecast i do have better news in your sevenday still to come. Well, john its easy to go 80s if youre on the roads because theres so few cars trying to get a speeding ticket because you will stand out chp officers are out there patrolling for dui especially this 3 day weekend. Holiday weekend. If you are coming into the east bay through the bay bridge. No problems there are no problem san mateo bridge, nothing to see here just keep moving along. Heres a look at the richmond sandra fell bridge. Thats probably the lightest bridge. So far this morning a few cars heading towards the toll plaza right now without any accidents youre probably looking at around 11 minutes from richmond into county. All right time now 6. 33 lets get back to our big story this morning. The excessive heat and with extreme temperatures and some people dont have a season their house to get hot, its pretty tempting to head outside go to a park or beach or a lake to try and find some relief. Forcefully to call reports from lake chabot which saw a lot of folks coming out this weekend. A crowd was expected and a crowd showed up is great to be out here you feel safe everyones just like kind in own thing and doing so from a distance a day before the grass near the lake Chabot Regional Park marina in Castro Valley was essentially bear but on saturday, a different story families huddled up keeping to this weekend. So we didnt want to stay inside you on hold when had the same idea she wanted to paint with her friend but not indoors where they have to keep face coverings on the whole Time Outdoors they only covered up when close to other people, its nice hike everyones kind of cooperating you know just were all we all want to like the outside but then everyones like a cable receptive like social distance and kind and i the east bay Regional Park district staff to for the Holiday Weekend to make sure the crowds kept safe. Most common areas were closed off to discourage picnicking and barbecuing even the restrooms were shut down the rental building was allowed and so was fishing but donald bren has says the fish were not biting into their first of all warmer now so fisher well day for them. Like takers hit the trails early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours of the day billy wolfe and his partner walked a ninemile says pretty warm and were looking forward to a swimming pool, maybe this afternoon sounds like a great idea in Castro Valley police should all run for well despite efforts to beat the heat governor Gavin Newsome wants people to stay home today saying that it wont take much to undo all the progress that weve made here fighting the coronavirus in a tweet the governor said the states case load Positivity Rate and i see rates are all going down. Theyre trending in the direction we want them to any reminded people that to avoid a going to large parties and encouraging the use of masks of course to keep the numbers heading in the right direction. And james as wildfires continue to burn throughout our state help is coming from a dozen other states and we certainly need all the help we can get that help is coming from as far away as new york as of this morning, there are over 14,800 firefighters battling 23 major fires and lightning complex us in california. Its forced evacuations and a rescue mission of more than 200 campers. Dennis valera has the story. She related to other communities up to one 68 have pretty much been closed off to the public all day. Now the scary situation so far from this fire has come for the midair county side of things. Were a 150 people got trapped by the flames. Theres a fight over the of sky. Families rushing out of the mammoth pull area and the dare county just one of many areas now under Evacuation Order because of the creek fire pictures from a viewer showing how the fire forced 150 to shelter in place dozens have been rescued at least 10 injuries are reported by the midair county Sheriffs Office for many in the area. Its a surprise to see how fast this fire is spreading. I remember. The french fire a few years back and it took quite a while to get teen the mark to evacuation points were set up by the American Red Cross and pray for and northfork helping at least 50 individuals and families we can see whats the best plan for them tonight will it be staying with friends or family do they need a hotel. But we can meet those needs once they come here to last as a smoke continued to billow in the sky, whatever they need if i have they to fire mean people in the community the Community Rallies together david reavis living near the preacher evacuation point offered 5 acres of his land for evacuees in case extra space was needed paying it forward for the help he got when his house burned down years ago when my house burned down the 2 came through like a champ, i mean i couldnt. And he is kind of emotional kind of thing but its like while my best friend from a house fire. Dennis blair, reporting meantime a mishap with pyrotechnics at a gender reveal party may have sparked one of nearly 2 dozen wildfires that are burning across the state. Cal fire says that a Smoke Generator as part of the party could be behind the eldorado fire in San Bernardino county that fire has forced evacuation in and has now grown to 7,000 acres in size. Ive been watching the spire first of all for the last 2 days watching it grow and never thought it would come as far as it did in all of a sudden it was leaping towards my home and the dog. The fireman was knocking on the door for me to get out i had to leave my cats, i grab water in my purse and a went. The fires only said to be about 5 contained this morning. And another fastmoving wildfire in Southern California exploded in size over the weekend the valley fire has now burned more than 5,000 acres in San Diego County and is only one percent contained several neighbors are preparing to evacuate their home at a moments notice Cassie Carlisle reports we got closer and closer. That darker and. They are the valley fire unhappy told drew onlookers from all over the county worry watching an alltoofamiliar scene play out the cedar fire burned the entire with of our property. I fought fire for about 2 hours kept away from our house at the time i was fighting fire. I was i was petrified and i kept thinking the whole time so i was on the Fire Department i was never scared. The intensity of the he was just crazy. Scaring neighbors up the road to start pouring out over here and then. Lyle irwin said his wife packed their necessities and theyre ready to go within need to hes worried about his neighbors on hidden glen road down. There a while and now start hoping the flames move away from homes and the fire is contained just hoping. Grant turns out like Everything Else you know we make it. Fingers crossed for everybody involved that was Cassie Carlisle reporting for us this morning. Fire crews in San Diego County are contending with triple digit heat and extremely dry conditions. The giants still down a run going into the 60s but Donovan Solano stepping up to the plate hitting this one deep to left as well that was good for a 2 run homer and then not too long after that brandon belts also came up and showed the stuff to knocking out solo home run there in the 7th the giants ended up being the dbacks for to to the finish up the series today at 5 oclock agenda. Meanwhile, not as lucky for the oakland as, they were at the coliseum 100 degrees at first pitch that is the hottest first pitch in coliseum history. Testing my friendship society, some good news in the ice thats left would be thin right because that is definitely a melting i dont think my ice maker my fridge is even working and that was a big disappointment last night but looking outside this morning. Theres no fog not a whole lot of cloud cover thats just smoke that youre seeing up above as we are seeing smoke from the creek fire really filtering out to the day heading our direction because of these offshore winds. Its not a fun day to be talking about and especially knowing that its labor day so many of us have the day off work and want to be doing something. Yeah, not your ideal but there is better news just around the corner in the forecast in cooler temperatures sides, a lay low this labor day. Get yourself thats about ice cream, whatever you need to do to cool down just keep it take it take it easy use it as an excuse to really enjoy a day off. Berkeley at 80 degrees right now same for you in cloverdale right behind me there some of our cities generally cool off much last night so if you left the window open now all youve got is similar temperatures to what you want to sleep with and a house full of not such good air quality with the peninsula, the east bay in the south bay a very porous that smoke and haze, former wildfires, especially burning out the sierra and fresno and madera counties makes its way out to the day and really settles down with us that ridge of High Pressure is pushing any smoke right down into the Central Valley and then its drawn out our direction, you know what else is dry now direction. The heat of the Central Valley, so its hot and smoky and yes, its because of that offshore flow 70s and 80s for your highs and San Francisco today, this is a noticeable change for the city from yesterday. It was a record breaker in the city yesterday reaching a 100 degrees or first time getting there since 2017 today, upper 80s, its not fun when you dont have a c but it is better than yesterday was 70s and 80s for coastal areas, south of San Francisco. And then you head along the bay and were talking 90s to triple digits woodside in Mountain View at 10100 degrees while the south bay back to the triple digits, san jose youll also be just a couple degrees cooler than yesterday. But i dont even want to say cooler when youre talking a 102 livermore 110 today while fremont at a 100 union city through oakland up to richmond all 90s while conquered walnut creek in san ramon at one 09 danville antioch pittsburgh and fairfield will all be at a 110 vacaville at a 111 making your hot spot today. Well santa rosa through nevado each in the triple digits too so were all really hot across the bay. Heat advisories at the coast because temperatures out there only in the 80s that includes San Francisco. Well, those pink areas which isnt just the entirety of the bay area really but really all of the region excessive heat warnings that will remain in effect through 09 00pm tonight thats not to say that tomorrow wont be hot. But we do start to see temperatures cooling down come tomorrow at a 102 degrees for your average inland high. By wednesday that inland high on average drops to the 90s and falls further by thursday friday and saturday into the upper 80s to low 90s. So we do have relief just around the corner in fact some really nice weather into the start of next weekend. So if you did have some labor day plans with the family or social bubble. Well, maybe just move those to next week its going to be a whole lot nicer to enjoy it with those 80s instead of triple digits. Well lets cycle through the cameras john a lot of people are home today but some are working in the eye of proof look at this years the bay bridge. Toll plaza looks like its a little bit busier than what we saw 10 minutes ago, but still very laughable in terms of traffic. This is not your typical monday of course this being labor day. Lets go to the Golden Gate Bridge traffic very light postcard shot. Im loving that haze james that means its a little cooler right now but buckle up bay area get your chin strap on tight because its going to be a burner again and the richmond sandra fell bridge. Thats also lice in easy this morning, no problems a couple of cars a couple of vehicles heading towards the toll plaza anywhere you are this morning take it easy. Because your biggest problem is probably trying not get a speeding ticket plenty of road. All right time now is 6. 49, lets talk a bit about the flu season that were almost upon here and Health Experts are worried that the flu combined with covid19 could overwhelm hospitals so theyre urging everyone to get their flu shot. We have a washington dc correspondent Trevor Shirley with more on the story. The cdc says the u. S. Will have around 200 million doses of flu vaccine available this year. Now Health Officials have to convince as many people as possible to get a flu shot is certainly safe. And its pretty effective doctor Georges Benjamin is the executive director of the american Public Health association, he says usually only about 40 to 45 of americans get a flu shot and if we get that into the 70 range. That would do a whole lot just this week parents in massachusetts protested against mandatory flu shots for students. Its one example of the challenges Health Officials face this year. As they combat the flu and covid19 so happy really 2 big epidemic ce. That have similar symptoms as well as way would tax the whole system would be a real problem and to avoid that worst case scenario. Doctors are pleading with everyone who can to get a flu shot is a big National Effort to educate people about getting the influenza shot. Tv and internet ads like this are part of that education effort. The cdc also gave out a 140 Million Dollars to help states with their vaccine campaigns. And recommends everyone keep up with masks and washing and social distancing plus get your shot. The cdc also purchased almost 10 million doses of flu vaccine for uninsured adults and increase from the 500,000 doses it usually buys for that Group Reporting in washington, im Trevor Shirley.
