The mayor talked about the fact that in the latest count, homelessness grew by 9 in oakland. Those numbers released just this week, but at least the rate is slowing down. 9 does not sound as drastic when you consider the citys Homeless Population grew. 47 from 2017 to 2019. And 24 between 2019 and and so this 9 increase is actually a significant success shows that we are, you know, closing off on some of these homelessness issues. Of course, theres still so much to be done. I we can walk out the street still see encampments. And so thats our job is never done until everyone is brought inside in our streets. The Company Began an internal review and found that sensitive information, including customers name date of birth, Social Security number and Health Insurance information was leaked. According to that letter that was sent out by recology. The company doesnt believe the tion is being used right now for any fraud or Identity Theft. But theres no way for them to be sure theyre offering a complimentary Identity Theft protection membership to all impacted speaking of theres a website that helps people find out if youre in for my animation has been compromised. Heres a letter att recently sent to customers saying their information was released on the dark web. San mateo police are looking for possible victims of these 3 men who opposed as contract workers and they overcharged ellard elderly people and did unfinished or likely unnecessary work. Police say the men used at least 2 different names for their company. One was statewide roofing and siding. Sometimes they said their company was called roofing and masonry. The first report of this that it was a scam happened in november of last year. And the most recent case, somebody said they were scammed recently as may 8th. All 3 have been arrested and now theyre in the San Mateo County jail. And we now know the identity of the man who was killed while he was riding ebike in hayward. 22 yearold say rahm dollop, holly lived in hayward was riding an ebike on may 8th near mission boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital, but he ended up dying of his injuries just 2 days later, a dollop ali was a graduate student from india, and he was for suing a masters degree in Computer Science at cal state east bay. Saint andrew Missionary Baptist Church wants your help to recover from this fire that damaged their building. Its a designated landmark in oakland and theyve been helping the Community Since the 19 0, 6, earthquake. And now they need your help. The church in west oakland would love to get some donations so that they can fix that damage to their building is a historical building. Its going to take some money to for a cover from this fire. That San Francisco hopes to take delivery of 2 giant pandas from china. To help make that happen on thursday, the Mayors Office says the government audit and Oversight Committee to authorize a waiver allowing the mayor as well as 5 city departments to start raising 25 Million Dollars in donations. We want to make sure that not a single dollar. General fun going to this proposal. And thats why weve come to you to ensure that only philanthropy will go to support. The panda exhibit at all. The costs associated with it. Theres a lot at this. And then she told them that her boyfriend had assaulted her and sexually assaulted her as well. And he was arrested on wednesday by undercover detectives in fremont actually. And they say he confessed during an interview and now he is being charged. Well, a man who was hit and killed by suspected drunk driver in fremont earlier this month has now been identified. He was identified by investigators as 26 yearold to new low. She knew of oakland he was hit and killed on may 3rd on fremont boulevard. The driver who hit him. Hes from sunnyvale, apparently crashed into a traffic pole and was ultimately arrested for dui. The victims family has put together a Gofundme Campaign to cover funeral costs. As you can see in this photo, he leaves behind his pregnant wife and 3 children. This is the first traffic fatality in fremont this year. In the east bay. One person has died after a triple shooting enrichment. It happened on may 11th along pullman avenue, right near carlson boulevard. Thats where Richmond Police found 3 people whod been shot. One of them died at the scene. No word on the condition of the others. Police are looking for that suspect this morning. Time now 34 north Bay Community is shaken up because they just learned that police found a womans body at her home in rio vista when they want to do a welfare check. The change would recognize marijuana as a drug with less potential for abuse than other substances. Its currently classified with if finalized. Roundup marijuana will no longer hold the higher level classification. It currently hold over fentanyl. And meth. The proposed rule recognizes marijuana for medicinal and Research Purposes and acknowledges its lower potential for abuse. The change, though, does not legalize marijuana for recreational use. The administration is taking a major step toward reclassifying marijuana from a schedule. To schedule drug under federal law. That would put marijuana in the same category as things like ketamine and some anabolic steroids. But some opponents argue marijuana is still not a safe substance. What theyre doing is saying marijuana has lower potential for abuse at a time when the science is telling us the potency of this drug is unlike it has ever been before. The change is long been discussed. But the white house made the announcement as it also works to shore up support in key voting blocs. The reality is while white black and brown people use marijuana at similar rates, black and brown people have been arrested, prosecuted and convicted at disproportionately high rates.
