Chp officers will not only be looking for drunk drivers but also speeders and anyone not wearing a seatbelt. During the christmas enforcement period, chp made more than 900 arrests. 144 of those were here in the bay area. The Highway Patrol said 27 people died on california roadways over that Holiday Weekend and say about half of those killed were not wearing seatbelts. Over thanksgiving, chp said 76 were killed state wide. That includes highways and city streets. They say more than 1000 dui arrests were made. That is up 17 over last year. And the south bay, San Jose Police are investigating a stabbing that left a 17year old dead. Police were called to south Sunset Avenue and East San Antonio street just before midnight where they found a teenager with one stab wound. Christien kafton has the story. Reporter police have confirmed this started with a fight that left a young man dead. San jose Police Officers and firefighters were summoned to the scene of a fight around 11 45 pm. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim on the ground with a stab wound to his chest. First responders administered firstaid and transported him to Valley Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at around 12 25 am. At this point officer said they are interviewing witnesses to put together what happened. At this point there is no word on any suspects are why this young men may have been targeted. We did briefly talked with the family of the a man who say they are too distraught to offer any information about him at this time. They do say they want the violence to an end. At this time officers in san jose are asking for anyone who knows anything about this case to give them that information. Investigators in new york city say a 3. 5yearold boy playing with burners on the stove caused the deadliest residential fire in the city and more than 25 years. The Apartment Fire killed 12 including four children. One of them was a oneyearold baby girl. Authorities say the little boy who has previously played with stoves turned on the burners last night. The mother realized what happened when she heard him scream. She grabbed him and her other child and escaped. Flames quickly raced out of their kitchen and through the fivestory building within minutes. Tenants and other units say they barely made it out alive. How did you get out . The fire escape. The stairway acted like a chimney. It took the fire so quickly upstairs that people had very little time to react. They could not get back down the stairs. Those that tried, a few of them perished. Officials found the body of the oneyearold girl and a bathtub huddled alongside an older woman in the studio apartment. The brick building has been cited for at least six Code Violations including a broken Smoke Detector in august. Firefighters are close to getting full containment of the thomas fire. That fire is now 92 contained. That fire destroyed more than 1000 homes and other structures and damaged 280 buildings. More than 440 square miles have burned. According to cal fire, containment is expected on january 20. The cause is still unknown. A registered sex offender has been arrested on child pornography charges after more than 110,000 images were found on his computer. Police said devi wayne hudson was arrested at his home on november 7 with help from the fbi. The Alameda County das office has charged them with multiple counts of possession and distribution of child pornography. According to state records he has prior convictions for molesting children and has served at least one prison sentence. And oakland family is going through an ordeal. Dominique johnson, a Father Community activist was killed last week and families are preparing to tell his seven yearold daughter that her father is gone.
