Heading towards the 8 00 hour, more intense downpours on board. This is just a preview of what is heading our way. A lot more rain coming up. Heavy rain in the north bay causing concerns tonight in the areas hit hard by the october wildfires. We went to napa county to see what is being done to prevent landslides. Reporter acres of land left abandoned by homeowners and stripped of trees and other vegetation. The properties that burned during the october wildfire now face the threat of landslides. The Fire Department is usually responsible for life, first, then property. Obviously we would go in and rescue any rescues that might need to happen and second mitigate any hazards. Reporter immediately after the october wildfires multiple county agencies took steps to prevent erosion. Clearing brush that is dead or down and also creating channels for water using straw waddles to channel water away into drainages. Reporter heavy equipment is lined up and ready to move if the land begins to move downhill. You may remember january last year this huge rock slide came down in this section of silver ado trail. Since that time cal fire and napa county fire say multiple agencies use temporary and permanent fixes in this area so they dont have a lot of concern for this area, newly burned areas from octobers wildfires that they are mostly concerned about. Firefighters quickly put out a car fire that spread to a nearby apartment. Officials say the fire was first reported after 3 00 this afternoon on robin lane in concord. Everyone was evacuated and firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly. One resident said she heard her neighbors screaming. That is when she looked out the window and saw smoke. I looked out and there was black smoke everywhere. Like, it looked like the whole house was half of the side was on fire so kind of confused and nervous and i literally the first thing that i did was run to my house and get my dogs. She says it was her aunts car that caught fire. No one was injured. At this time no extent on the damage in the units. The Authorities Say a cyclist died today when she crashed her bike. The chp says 51yearold nina nor died when she crashed her bicycle. The Authorities Say it appears she came down a hill into a sharp corner and crashed off of the road. The police are looking for four people involved in a burglary and a shooting that sent two people to the hospital. We spoke to one the victims who was shot. It all happened so fast. Looking back on it i probably would of handled it a little differently. I just wanted to get the people. Reporter kevin says anger and adrenaline prompted him to confront the people burglarizing his truck outside of his home. Adrenaline took over. I flew down the stairs and it all just really happened really, really quick. Reporter that confrontation sent him and his roommate to the hospital with gunshot wounds. He still had his hospital gown and wristband on with we spoke to him. Around 2 45 this morning he heard the alarm on his truck go off. He rushed outside to see someone going through it. The burglar inside took off running but then he saw three people in another truck nearby. He jumped in that vehicle to keep them from running away. I went to shut the ignition off and grab the keys so they would not leave. There were mow keys, that was stolen. The guy in the back got out and i pinned his leg in with the door and i yelled for my roommate to come out. He did. And he took over holding the door like how i was and i went to get my phone to call the police. I was halfway up my drive way and i heard a gunshot and i looked and i saw my friend holding his stomach laying in the street. Reporter his roommate is still in the hospital but expected to survive. Shortly after he saw his friend go down someone aimed the gun at him. Like a split second i saw the muzzle flash and then i got hot. I had been shot, too. Reporter the bull length went through the side of his torso but did not hit any organs. They are searching for two men and two women involved in the burglary and shooting. All four suspects took off running. They collected evidence throughout the morning. People who live nearby the home on mellow way describe it as a safe area. They are surprised that this happened. As for this man, he says he is surprised he reacted the way he did. He feels lucky and blessed he and his roommate survived. Six people died after a wrong way crash on interstate 5. Coming up, how a witness describes the aftermath. 6 people died in a wrong way crash near sacramento. That crash happened at 12 30 early this morning when a woman, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of interstate 5 in woodland struck a dodge. That dodge had 5 people inside and sadly all 6 people, the driver and the five people in that dodge were killed. A witness says both of the cars were completely engulfed in flames. Everything was going from the fire and from the emergency lights. Just a big flickering show. Looked like fireworks. Investigators say they are still looking into if drugs or alcohol were a factor. The police have not yet released the identities of those victims. The a crash along the east shore freeway had traffic at a stand still for more than an hour. Shortly after midnight five cars and a big rig were involved in an accident just before the gillman offramp. Traffic stopped on westbound 80 as the Highway Patrol worked to clear debris off of the road and tow away the cars. Two people were taken to the hospital. Chp is investigating a deadly crash involving an off road vehicle. That happened around 9 00 last night near chapman lane. The chp says one person died in the crash and no other details have been released. We are tracking two systems. One just off shore and another one out to the west. Two are merging, basically, bulking up their moisture and the energy. We will notice that combination of the storm for tomorrow. Here you can see the clouds, the green showing up. Looking out towards San Francisco bay out towards the lights for your sunday night and for tomorrow, we are expecting rainfall to range from over an toeufrpb possibly four inches four inches in the coastal hills. Winds picking up. Gusting 40 miles an hour. The sierra will be a rain snow mix. Snow levels up above 7,000 or 7500 feet. Here is the rainfall distribution for tomorrow. Lower end will be in the south bay. Even around the bay in the north bay could be talking about 2. 5 inches of rainfall. Coastal hills, jumping up as well. What is concerning it is all happening in less than 24hour less than a 24hour period. It could overwhelm portions of the bay area. As i mentioned two systems, one here, another one here, both merging, setting up what we call an Atmospheric River rain event. Narrow run of rain towards us. A long rain, not just two or three hours we will have periods of rain for the morning hours, afternoon into the evening. As i mentioned this will be a rain producer closer to the lake level. Rain snow mix. Snow accumulations, 8,000 feet. 1212 inches to 24 inches, snow levels, though, exactly down as we head towards tuesday morning. That will be a nice development. Lake level as the cold air moves into the picture. Here is the forecast model. This is tomorrow morning, the rainfall will be picking up. Keep in mind the morning commute, the afternoon commute, the evening commute, it will be a challenge. It is not really backing off until potentially by 3 00. Look at what happens after 3 00. Another wave of moisture into monday evening. We will need a break. Yellows and oranges showing up. We will get a break monday night into tuesday. Not dry but scale down on the intense rates.
