So many moving parts and so many involved. Describe the scene for my you know. What they are typically doing at this point is locking down the facility in terms of them all. They are trying to cover the entrances and exits. They are partnering with the fire department, paramedics or there may be paramedics with the s. W. A. T. Team. They will use dogs to go through the mall and search for secondary or bombing devices. They will also try to screen the people leaving the mall to make sure there is no accomplice with the individual. They will be very careful they are also trying to build a criminal case as they go through this process. Everything is evidence not only do they protect the citizens but they have to make sure they preserve evidence. Weve heard its possible that two people were shot in the Food Court Area of the tanforan mall. Say for the sake of argument that that is in fact true and if those two victims are still inside that food court, how and when do authorities get to them and give them treatment . My sense would be if theyve got the perpetrator those people are already getting treatment now. What they do is an emergency medical system alert. That particular county along with adjacent counties in the hospitals are on standby. They bring in standby ambulances all in precaution to treat people in case they find more victims. Mark leno they bart station has shut down. Why would they go to that precaution so any perpetrators could not get away or what are your thoughts its more in precaution than anything. We would rather inconvenience people unfortunately now its commute time and people are trying to get home on bart. Weve got transport from the airport. They would rather inconvenience folks and put them in a dangerous situation. Until they know for sure there is only one perpetrator and nothing else will happen they will act in an abundance of caution. This is a large mall. How many people do you need to secure this entire mall . Its determined on how active the incident is. You can see from some of the phone video they are trying to cover her as many access as possible. They will call in as many resources as they can. Im sure theyre in a mutual aid situation with other Police Department. There is swat on the scene. Its a difficult task because there are so many entrances and exits but they will call on resources until they feel comfortable that they have this in hand it looks like this is but you dont take anything for granted. With such a large public setting. Its a busy mall with a lot of stores in Movie Theaters. Its crowded and its busy. How many different types of Law Enforcement agencies would you call in . Who is involved Law Enforcement wise on this type of operation . The First Arriving Police Officer is the Incident Commander and then as higher raking authorities, officers, captains of extra arrived on scene they will take charge of that scene. They will continue to call resources based upon the plan they put in place, unified command are the lead agency. I am sure theyre talking with the Fire Departments in the area along with the ambulance and other Police Departments. They will keep calling resources until they feel comfortable theyve got a wrapped up. If they feel comfortable there is one perpetrator and the they will get information from people in the food court asking questions as they exit. They are trying to determine on the amount of resources they need. You are a form air deputy chief, as a firefighter putting on that cap for moment, when you come to a scene like this if you were called to a scene like this, what would you do . Im assuming the police would be the first line of defense and you would follow, after them. Absolutely, you are trying to protect your personnel as well as the public and you are partnering with the Police Department because theyve got protection for any of the medics. Again, sometimes there are s. W. A. T. Paramedics embedded with those swat teams and many officers if they can get in there they could do an assessment on whats necessary. This is a difficult incident because you have to not only protect yourself and the people but youve got to be aggressive enough to get into that some mall and make sure the shooting stops. I parked my car in the garage and i was about to walk into the mall. I saw people running outside from the mall crying and hugging each other. And i thought i saw the Police Coming and asked us where is it. I didnt know but i heard the shots. I think thats all. Reporter how many shots did you hear . Around like five. Reporter how far away was it a distance . I feel im close to it. Reporter did you see the suspect at all . But no. Reporter when did you know what was really going on . Some people from inside said there is a gain inside. Some people said there is a problem from before between people in their. Thats all i heard people talking about. It was inside and it was close. Reporter did you see any injured people . No. We ran outside really quick. Thats it. Im waiting until they finish so i can get my car from the garage. Reporter what are your thoughts . Its so close. What are your thoughts about being so close to whats happened . Of course, i felt unsafe but why are we still seeing things like that going on . We should find a way to stop anything bad like that. Weve heard nonlife threatening injuries but again none of this is confirmed we havent spoken with any Law Enforcement here is you can see there is a lot of Police Activity. We see a lot of patrol cars. I see ambulances. People are waiting to see what will happen next. Omar is among those waiting for the scene to clear to get his car back. We are to gunfire go off. It sounded like a firework. People werent sure what it was until we saw everyone running and saying there was a shooter. Thats when a lot of people are customers of them all started to back away and run. A lot of stores and employees started to lock the doors. They locked customers inside the store until we waited for the police to arrive on the scene as well as mall security. Five minutes later we saw San Bruno Police running inside the mall telling everyone to leave. They knocked on everyones door and said get out of the stores. They had everyone evacuate. Some people are still inside in the stores. The people at five guys and target are inside as well as the Movie Theater. There was a report that two people were hit one guy in the stomach and one guy in the leg. They said there was four in this shooter is still on site. They are having everyone chris, where was the shooting . We heard it was in the food court. Yes, it was in the food court. One downstairs and then he went upstairs towards five guys and the shoe college. When you say he who are you referring to . The shooter. Did you see one shooter . Did you actually see the shooter . It was the same shooter. We had a customer run from that way. He said the same. Chris, from your understanding one shooter and how different victims and when you say you heard gunshots, a couple of gunshots . We heard three. How many of you were in your store . How far are you or were you from the food court . Im literally like a step im not fire my stories right by the food court. When you heard that, what did you do . We immediately started bringing in our towers and locking our doors. What is the situation now . Are you still inside your door . Have you heard anything . We are not right now. Everyone is outside in the parking lot. We are waiting. Everything is blocked off right now. There are police blocking everywhere. Yes, thats what everyone is saying as far as police and other employees. We want to let people know nothing is confirmed. There are reports one person is been taking into custody. We are waiting for confirmation from police but there are reports of one person in custody. Chris, im wondering is there anything else you would like to add or tell us about whats going on . Did we miss anything . They are just evacuating people from the Movie Theater. They are evacuating those people now. People are still inside. Okay, chris. Obviously, we wish you the best. We are just learning from bart the 12th street oakland station is closed related possibly to the situation going on now in san bruno. According to its twitter page police are clearing a train and searching for a possible suspect there. There are unconfirmed reports. We want to be very clear that we dont know for sure if one person is been taking the custody. Moments ago we spoke to chris phillipe heres what he said about all of this. The latest information we have from bart is that the san bruno station is closed. Thats been the case for basically since about 4 10 this afternoon and were doing that out of an abundance of caution in collaboration with San Bruno Police. We want to make sure all of our writers go are safe the station is closed its been evacuated. We arent even running trains through the station so whats happening in terms of services our millbrae and San Francisco International Airport around trains instead of going through to the destination they will go to south San Francisco and they will turn back into the system. We are not running trains pass san bruno i should stay we are running a train Shuttle Service between millbrae and sfo. Its only for those two stops that train is not continuing to san bruno and our most important messages we are just encouraging everyone to stay away from the san bruno station until the situation is resolved. Reporter we are on the west side of tanforan mall we just arrived and got our signal up during the live pictures just moments ago. Weve spoken with people who were inside the mall. I spoke with the woman who said she heard seven to eight shots and she said they were in clusters of three. She said a parent of a worker in the shop came rushing in and said there have been shots fired and she said she was hunkered down for half an hour until she was escorted out by police. We are joined right now by George Castro who was inside the mall. Does that sound similar to what you heard . What did you experience inside . I wintered to the mall i believe it was 3 57 p. M. And i wintered in right in front of barnes noble and bjs. I heard four pops is that occurred i saw countless people running for their lives and yelling get out of the mall there is a shooting. There is a shooting. My personality is to help people. I went to where i heard the shooter or shooters were they were i did not see anyone but i saw more people running and yelling that someone is shooting. I went to look for the shooter. Reporter what did you see when you went and did you see any victims or the shooter . I did not. Reporter did you see any victims. I did not see any of the victims i walked in and i could hear where the shooting was coming from but i could not see. People were running out. I was looking for victims or the shooter. Reporter again to give people an idea this is a westside where barnes noble is as well is bjs. This was your entrance . Thats correct. Reporter where did you hear the shots closer to the jcpenney . I was closer to sprit but it sounded like it could have come from jcpenney. Reporter the people who were running, were they saying anything . Did they see the shooter or were they just running in response to what they heard . They were running in response to what they heard, christien. They were yelling get out of the mall there is a shooter. There is a shooter. Reporter a lady i spoke with earlier was shaken up and did not want to talk. She was shaken up but she said she was hunkered down and escorted out by police. Did you see police . How did that work . There were no police. There was nobody in fact christien i was in there by myself. I decided to call 911 and then they came right away. Within two or three minutes, countless Law Enforcement officers were coming in with rifles and what have you. Reporter George Castro thank you for sharing your story. Im glad you made it out safely. If you look this is the direction we are talking about just a moment ago. You can see some of the people are still evacuating from the area. They are still trying to figure out whats going on. It did not register right away what occurred. I just see all these people running and my dad actually came inside my store and he told us active shooter everybody walked down. My manager went to close the doors. She was grabbing anyone she could to get in. People were terrified and of course because, you know this is something you see in the movies, right . You never expected to happen where you work or where you do your activities like shopping and watching movies. The Movie Theater is nearby. Reporter absolutely, its very scary. Just to get a sense of where this happen. Where were you inside the mall and what shop wasnt and where did you hear the shots . I work next to the store of barnes noble. Its called the mask. I heard the shots being fired from the left side of the not s or any of the victims but i just saw like i said the mobs of people with youngsters and little babies trying to get out of the mall. I knew that Something Big happened. You dont see that everyday. Reporter im so glad youre okay what is your name like my name is angelica castro. Reporter thank you, so much for sharing your story. Im so glad you made it out safely. We are very happy for you. Martin, lets show more of the live presence if you look you can see theres st significant presence of police. Just a moment ago we show you the people were still evacuated in the parking lot over by the jcpenney side. Your familiar with the area, we are next to the jcpenney next to bjs. If you look you can see there is still a significant amount of Police Activity as we walked down this road. We also heard theres a significant amount of activity on the north side of the mall towards the marshals. Wheel to get an update and the status of those who were injured we want more information about the shooter. Again, at this point there are unknowns at this point and we are working to learn the details as quickly as possible. Christian, are there police at every door . At this point the mall is completely shut off from everyone correct . Reporter at this point frank it appears the mall is shut off now keep in mind we arrived just moments before we went on air. I have not surveyed all of the doors but we were able to see police at the various entrances. There are people moving in the parking lots. We are not sure if the mall itself has been cleared. We are not sure if there are clearing nearby buildings. We heard scanner traffic that made lead us to believe they are looking at other buildings as well. At this point, as i said, there are more questions and answers. All right christien will let you work on the scene live at tanforan mall. Reports of a gunshot at the tanforan mall in san bruno coming in around four clock p. M. Initial reports there was a shooting inside the food court at this very busy mall that has many Different Department stores in Movie Theaters condition reports that two peinjured. We do not know the extent of those injuries. There were reports they possibly were shot in the legs. Weve seen video on social media. One person on a stretcher, one person in the hallway on the floor being treated by paramedics at the scene its a very active situation in san bruno because of a shooting this afternoon at the tanforan mall. Police have evacuated in the stores. They are going through the mall to make sure there are no more suspects. We had an initial report one person was taken into custody however thats not confirmed. Weve lend learned the 12th street bart station in oakland has been closed possibly related to the san bruno situation. Weve learned as a precaution there were clearing a train and searching for a possible suspect. There are many reports coming in at this hour. Police are there, the s. W. A. T. Team is there to decipher the information to confirm what really happened. We do know at least two people have been injured by a shooter at the tanforan mall. Its a very fluid situation. We are trying to piece together what we know. Weve heard from one person who is a manager at a shoe store inside not far from where we believe the shooting happened at the food court. He was saying he heard three or four shots but we spoke to another person who said he heard seven or eight shots. Again, the word is we believe two people may have been injured. Joining us on the phone now is brent andrew from the San Francisco General Hospital. The spokesperson. Have you received anybody who was injured at the tanforan mall . Yes. We received two patients from the shooting incident. Its my understanding that there are at least two others that have gone to other area hospitals but we are the Trauma Center for San Francisco and northern San Mateo County and we would typically get the most seriously injured people from the incident. What can you tell us about their injuries . How serious are they . The two patients we received are both juveniles. They are both are teenagers. One is in Critical Condition right now of the other is in serious condition. Brent, if the other two people who you believe may have been shot were not taken a San Francisco general but were taken somewhere else, would that tell you anything at all about the extent of their injuries . Typically, we get the most seriously injured people in multiple casualty incidents such as this. It is not unreasonable to assume the other two left serious injuries than those we received. Brent, are they both boys . Yes. They are. Reporter one in critical at this hour one in serious . What part of the body where they shot in . I cannot. The person who is in critical, would it be fair to say these are lifethreatening injuries are not . Its always difficult to tell whether these threaten life and we dont typically use that vocabulary, when we talk about our patients. Its fair to say critical is the most serious condition that we have. Its fair to say that that person is very seriously hurt. Brent, we appreciate you speaking with us. Thats Brent Andrews a spokesperson for San Francisco general where they received two people who were shot at the tanforan mall. Both are teenagers. One is in Critical Condition. The other is in serious condition. According to mr. Angers there were two others who were injured. They were taken somewhere else which leaves him to believe that theyre injuries were not as serious because if you have very serious injuries you are taken to San Francisco general. Again, this whole situation is very fluid. We are trying to piece together all of the different pieces that we continue to get but from what we understand now four people were shot. If youre just joining us we want to recap the tanforan mall is just off highway 380 in san bruno. Its a very busy Shopping Center it happened about 4 pm this afternoon. There are Different Department stores, coffee shops, restaurants, a Movie Theater. It was busy at the time that these reports of the gunfire came in the bart station which is nearby come of the san bruno bart station has been closed. We want to let you know because of whats happening in san bruno bart is tweeting the 12 street bart station in oakland has been shut down. They are clearing a chain possibly clearing a suspect. Initial reports that two people were shot weve now learned four were injured one in critical, one in serious teenage boys. We are waiting to confirm, get more information as to the gunman. We do not know there were reports one person was taken into custody but we cannot confirm that. If they are looking for possibly someone in oakland it would make you think there could be someone else still out there. Weve learned the oakland bart station has reopened. We told you the 12 street bart station was temporarily shut down so they could search the train. We have just learned the bart station has reopened. Again, life pictures of the tanforan mall. The mall right now is completely shut down. Everyone has been evacuated outside of the mall brick authorities are going and searching every single business. There are a number of businesses inside the mall searching through the businesses, trying to see if there is still a gunman inside. We did speak to someone who was the manager of a shoe store inside the mall. He said as far as he knew there was still a shooter inside the mall. That is again what he is telling us. We have not confirmed that. We spoke to another person who heard the shots. She said she was locked inside her store for 20 minutes until s. W. A. T. Got there and was able to escort them out. She said the entire situation was absolutely fighting. We got a little new information again this is unconfirmed. We hear this is possibly from San Bruno Police is that it did not appear to be a random shooting. We won four people were injured and we are hearing no one has been arrested yet following the shooting this afternoon inside the mall. The tanforan mall. Hearing this could be a case of two separate shooters who may have been shooting at one another and again, currently the tanforan mall is in full lock down. Its been evacuated and Law Enforcement crews are going through store by store doing a full search of that mall. Again, this could have been a case with two people shooting at each other and we have a result of four people injured. Speaking of those people who were injured we heard from a spokesperson from San Francisco general is that where they take patients whose been seriously injured two people who were shot to taken to San Francisco general one is in critical the other in serious condition. They would not tell us how many times they were shot or way they were shot just that they are in critical and serious. The other two were taken to other hospitals. If you read into that, which is what the spokesperson for San Francisco general was doing. He said you could presume from the fact they were taken other hospitals that their injuries are not as serious as those who were taken to San Francisco general. You can just imagining how frightening this would be. If you are inside the mall shopping and you hear gunshots and everyone starts to run. Again, we are waiting to confirm from police as they decipher all the information as to possibly word of any arrests. Weve just learned on jerry senior arrived at the bart station which was shut down the 12 street bart station. What can you tell us . Just a moment ago as you said the bart station just open up with a Police Officer inside came in and pulled up the gates that were closed. We had several people that were hanging out in the area. Some people told me they were upset because they could not get on the train. We do see some police on the scene a few of them have left as the situation appears to have resolved the self. They were more crews here just a short time ago. Two people at the mall got into a shooting and one may have been taking the train that led police to shut down. Again, in the last few minutes the Police Cruisers have left for the most part. We still have a few on the scene. The bart station is open. People are heading back in. The scene is dying down here but it was just moments ago part of the bigger situation going on in san bruno. Again. Thank you. Its five culinary. We had a shooting at the tanforan mall in san bruno. Either two or perhaps more people were shot. We know for fact two people were shot both teenagers one is in critical one is in serious. We know that two other people may have been injured. We are getting kind of conflicting information on whether they were shot or whether they were injured in some other way. At this point, we do not believe anyone is under arrest. They are still looking for the person responsible. We are also hearing this may have been a targeted shooting as well the tanforan mall you look at it here. Its completely shut down. Everyones been evacuated. S. W. A. T. Went in and removed people who were locked inside some of those stores after they heard the shots. We spoken to witnesses who said it was absolutely frightening. They heard anywhere from three to eight shots pop, pop, pop, pop. Again, two people injured and presumably the gunman still on the loose. We dont know whether he is still inside he or she is inside the mall or has been able to escape one of their possible scenario there couldve been two shooters, people shooting at each other. That is also still a possible we hear reports of that again the bart station the san bruno bart station which is very close to the tanforan mall thats been shut down. We do have Christien Kafton and amber leigh on the site at the tanforan mall speaking with people. We hope to hear from them in minutes about new information. You can imagine just how scary this would be if you are inside the mall and going about your business and you hear gunshots. It did in fact turn out to be a shooting inside the mall. We spoke to one person who was very candid about how frightening it was. She said she worked in one of the stores. I cannot recall which one but she said after the shooting they quickly locked the doors and she said the people inside the store were frantically calling families which is what happens in cases like this. Everyone has a cell phone and calls the loved ones or the parents to tell them that they are okay or they are terrified. And again, she said s. W. A. T. Finally came in and tapped on the door and took them out. We want to go back to andre in oakland. Hes got the spokesman for the Oakland Police. What of you heard . Reporter we just came across Johnna Watson the spokesperson. We will talk to her and get information. What can you tell us about the situation today . 12 street and broadway along with 14th street and broadway the oakland Police Department and bart Police Department received information about a possible suspect that may be connected to the act of shooting in san bruno. For Public Safety we decided we are going to close the stations. We will detain everyone on the train to conduct a methodical search. Also, make sure each train, those individuals on the train were released in a methodical, very safe manner. We do have information the suspect from san bruno shooting did board a bart train. We have lets just say we have information. We have information that led to taking quick action and making sure these trains were stopped and that the people on the trains were evacuated out of the station in a safe manner. Reporter did you find the person you were looking for . We have not but we will continue the search. We have evidence and leads that we will work with bart San Bruno Police and we are all collectively working as a team to ensure Public Safety. We are very of what happened in san bruno and we want to ensure our public and community here as well as other cities are safe. We will continue to work through the night. Reporter we heard reports of a recovery of a weapon . That is what the bart Police Department shared with us. We are still gathering information with them. Its very difficult to have radiocommunication down below the service streets. Right now our commanders are reaching out to their commanders and our investigators will Work Together in a team fashion to verify the information. Thats what we were told. Again, this is all about Public Safety. This is all about finding and identifying this individual who we believe is responsible and connected to the san bruno shooting. Reporter lets talk about the passengers. We know you opened up the station. Have you completed your search of the people on the bart that you stopped and are the trains running again . The trains are running. Bart just started running trains again. The 12 street and 14th street stations are open. What i want to stress is that we knew who we were looking for. We had a very good description. The passengers were fantastic and cooperative. They followed instructions. That is key in a critical time element. We have information that an act of shooting had just taken place. We have information the suspect is armed. We have information they were on a bart train. Passengers were absolutely fantastic and following direction. Again, this is about making everyone safe. Reporter the bottom line is that no information on the person you are looking for or whether the weapon was connected to the shooting in san bruno . Thats correct. We will hold that information. I would like to acknowledge everyones action to the Oakland Police and the bart but also the city. We have 5000 employees next to city hall and a lot of other businesses here where we had to get that information out right away. Our Communications Director immediately push the information out. This is what happens when everyone comes together. Reporter thank you Johnna Watson. There you have it thats an update on the situation. That is what caused the bar to shut down. Its now open. They shut down the bart train and searched everyone on the train. They did find a weapon. Thats what oakland pd said they were told five bart police but theyre still trying to make the connection as to whether this weapon is connected to the shooting at the mall inch and 11. We will keep working on it. Back to you. We want more now from Chris Phillippe a whos joining us on the phone. What is the situation with bart as of your understanding . Our Current Situation as you just heard is that 12 street has been reopened the station is fully reopened and we are restoring normal service that means trains are once again stopping at 12 street. We are trying to get normal service back but as you can imagine the station in fact two station shutdowns at this time of day is a big impact on the overall commute. We have residual delays, major delays throughout much of the system because of this. Looking at the san bruno the station is closed. I dont have an estimate for when the station will reopen but we will keep it closed as long as it takes in terms of this investigation to ensure everyone is safe. At this Point San Bruno is closed its been closed since 4 10 this afternoon and in terms of service we are not running trains through san bruno we have a shuttle train running between millbrae and sfo as well is normal trains that go through would typically go to millbrae are instead turning back at the south San Francisco station. We have service down to south San Francisco but the trains are going back into the system at this point. The other thing i want to mention is that a bus bridge has been set up thanks to sam Candice Nguyen its been set up from the south chance for and cisco station so you can get to the airport from south San Francisco they can hop on the bus bridge thats been set up. Why was it the thought here is that the suspect jumped on bart. Why was it that you picked the two stations in oakland to search the bart trains and if you didnt find him, presumably couldnt that mean that he is still on a bart train somewhere else . Are there any plans to close any other bart stations and searched trains . This is a fluid situation as we are looking for potential suspects. Bart police will do whatever is necessary to help with that search. We are doing all we can to gather information and conduct a search. In this case a train was at san bruno there was a high level of confidence that potentially suspects could be on the train. Again, just as part of this investigation and to do it in a safe as manner as possible we shut down the 12th street station so it can be searched car by car and we are willing to do whatever it takes to find the suspects but again the information we have will change and where they could potentially be we will respond to whatever valuable leads we come across. Chris, just to help out viewers. People who are trying to get around the situation with the delays focusing on san bruno bart station. Can you recap what has been set up . The bus bridge and Shuttle Services to let people know if they are trying to get around and having issues . Absolutely my first advice would not be go by two go by they posted schedules. It wont match up with the normal schedule. It will likely be that way for some time. We will have residual delays because we had the stations close but you are right we have a bus bridge between the bart south San Francisco station and sfo. Folks that would normally take a bart train to the airport theres another avenue. They can hop on a shuttle. Millbrae sfo bound trains are being turned back at the south San Francisco station. You can take a train to south San Francisco but knows further because san bruno is closed and we do have a shuttle train between millbrae and sfo. It wont be going beyond sfo or any farther north we have Shuttle Service with the train between millbrae and sfo. Just to make it clear we dont know if any other bart stations could be closed because its such an active situation and so fluid . Are you waiting for him word from authorities as to whats next . At this point the only station thats close to san bruno it would be speculation to say if will close any others but bart police will do whatever is necessary. Reporter not someone who saw the shooting but another witness first will show you this. Theres still a sizable Police Presence. You can see officers but fortunately they seem relaxed. Thats a good sign but you can see these are officers who are armed with semi automatic weapons, ready for an engagement with the possible gunmen. We are joined now by david black who was inside the mall. Could you tell us what you heard and you took some video. Lets start with what you heard that alerted you there was something going on. So, i was purchasing a smoothie across from where it happened. When i heard 10 shots from like a semi automatic style shots, at first i thought it was fireworks but i didnt think much of it. Moments later i saw 30 people running out the opposite way from where i was. Thats when i went back inside the store. I was at the printing store. We close the doors. At first we do not think anything was going on and moments later, about 30 Police Officers and s. W. A. T. Came in. We were hiding inside. Reporter thats where the video picks up. We will roll that video. Can you describe what you saw . It sounds there were officers on scene. In the video its cops coming in and trying to corn of the area of the shooting. I believe it was by the food court. Reporter did you see the shooter . Did you see the victims . What did you see . I didnt see any shooter or victims. I did run into someone else when they asked us to leave. They said they saw two people shot and they saw the shooter they said there were two gunmen shooting at each other and someone else got shot. That was im not sure if they were involved but it was not a random shooting. It seemed as if there was two people that knew each other trying to just they took it to the mall. Reporter thats what you are hearing shortly after this incident first began, within minutes you heard there may have been an exchange of gunfire a backandforth rather than one shooter . I heard that actually after the shooting it was two minutes. Thats when i knew there was a definite shooting. I thought it wasnt a shooting i assumed it was fireworks at the moment. You wouldnt think there would be a shooting at the mall like that in the middle of the day. Took after the shots you went into a shop and you said shortly thereafter the Police Showed up. You have any idea how long it was between you barricading yourself inside the printing shop before the officers arrived . It took about 15 minutes for all the police to pull up. The shooting went down. I walked over back to this printing store. We close the doors. It was about 15 minutes where they closed off the mall and all the police came and. Reporter david, earlier we spoke with a lady who work in a shop and she said she was escorted out by a police omalagah, inc. Would you escorted . We made our own way out. Its hard to get a sense for just how much activity is going on but frank, theres a large Police Presence. Just as we were starting our of s. W. A. T. Deer still moving around. Frank, you asked if it appeared all of the exits were sealed off in the time between my last live report and this one. I did check on a couple of other interests. It appears there is a heavy Police Presence at each entrance making sure no one goes in and no one goes out. Back to you. It was interesting to listen to that man talk. He was so calm given what he just witnessed. He gave us some new information in the sense that he said from his perspective, he thought it was two people shooting at each other and that a third person may have been hit. And also just the timeline. It was interesting how he was barricaded inside this business and about 15 minutes later is when he saw the Police Arrive and then just kind of made it out on his own. Wed heard earlier from another witness who said they were barricaded and s. W. A. T. Came to escort them out. In this case he just said, we made our way out. Reporter and keep in mind just because he saw the police 15 minutes later does not mean they werent already there. Given his perspective and how deep he was in the mall it may have taken the police until they could get clothes for him to see them. It sounds he was very close to the incident and he is reporting consistent with what we heard before, upwards of seven, eight, nine, 10 shots fired. A possibility of two people and again that starting to sound consistent with what we hear from other sources as well. We definitely low christien reporter that information is been following in. We definitely know two people were injured. A spokesperson from San Francisco confirmed two people were shot at the tanforan mall. Both are teenagers. One is in critical and one is in serious. The question is whether there were more people who were shot as well. Weve been hearing but weve not confirmed that potentially, two other people may have been injured as well. They could have been injured reporter they are trying to learn if there are multiple shooters because david story remember he says there are multiple shooters. People shooting back and forth in other words an exchange of gunfire and that would be a different situation than perhaps an active shooter or someone ambushing people in the mall. These of the questions we are getting clarity on. I will work to talk with witnesses and police to figure out exactly what the story is, the narrative and how the shooting went down. Weve heard that too but we cannot confirm that we did hear from possibly san bruno please it was not a random shooting it couldve been two people shooting at one another in an exchange of gunfire. We dont know if people were caught in the middle or if the people hit each other. We do know two people have been hurt one with critical injuries. Christien get some more information we should tell you that there was a situation with bart. They believe at least one of the shooters got onto a bart train and bart police had good information that the person was on the bart train. They shut down the 12th street station and another downtown oakland station where they went car to car searching for the person. They did not find the person but from what we understand they did find a weapon. We do not know if that weapon was actually connected to the shooting. It is a very interesting coincidence. Both of those stations have since been reopened. The san bruno bart station is still closed. That impacts people if you are heading to San Francisco International Airport. You will now get off at south San Francisco. There has now been a bus bridge created to take you to sfo. All of this is causing residual delays on bart. Bottom line, chances are if you are writing bart tonight during the commute it will be a little slower and perhaps heavier in terms of passengers on board than normal. Reporter we did hear from the spokesperson at bart dont check the regular schedules they could be off. Thats a heads up that they are having delays in this will take some time to we do have reporters on ene thg information. We are still waiting to hear from San Bruno Police as to a press conference. Usually, when you have so many officers on the scene and different agencies and this big area. San bruno is a very big mall. Major Department Stores with different shops and restaurants and so much information. They are trying to get the officials information so it can be determined whats accurate and then pass it on to us, the media. We expect a staging area where they will disseminate flow information. A spokesperson will give it to reporters on the scene and we can pass it on to you. This is taking time they are appearing very careful to keep people safe. As you can see its a big area its a big mall and residual effects like oakland and we heard from Johnna Watson the spokesperson from the oakland Police Department just being careful. They are still looking for shooter. Just to give you some perspective. Weve spoken to three or four witnesses one of whom said when he first heard the shots he felt like he word three shots it was interesting listening. He said by my nature everyone was running past me going out. My nature is to run toward the gunman. He did not see the gunman. That was an interesting perspective from him. We heard from another woman, probably 20 or so, she was inside works at one of the businesses. She said it was terrifying. She said she heard seven or eight shots and also that they locked the doors and they all hit inside the business. She said that people were on their phones calling their families to tell them what was going on and telling people they were okay. She said finally, s. W. A. T. Came and was able to rescue them and escort them out. We heard from another gentleman who said he probably heard 10 shots. Moments later he saw 30 people run past him because he was not sure if they were fireworks. Thats one thing someone says they are not sure in this case it was not fireworks. And with the fourth of july being thursday a lot of people thought it was fireworks. It didnt seem to be serious until they understood the situation was much more dire than what they thought initially. Everyone has cell phones. Weve gotten clips of video from people posting on social media and sending it to us. We just saw the police with gun drones inside the mall. We are also seeing many times the two people injured one was transported on a gurney outside. Years more of that video taken from someone with their cell phone who captured whats happening in the moments outside. There was also video inside the mall of one person being treated. Heres video it looks like the person is being taken to the hospital. Both patients were taken to the hospital at San Francisco general. You can see the ambulance pulling up and someone is taking video as two teenage boys taken a San Francisco General Hospital one with critical injuries one with serious injuries and reports with two people and we dont know if they were injured with gunshots or if they fell down in the frantic moments trying to escape. We also dont know if there are one or two suspects from what we understand no one is in custody right now again we have reporters on the scene. We will take a short break.
