Now, many people across the world know her name because it stands on a Recreation Center that was really born from community support. This was that you and your family pushing to get this named after betty. This was the Community Rising up and saying we want this to be named after betty. Loco one day, when we were notified that they were considering renaming a chinese Recreation Center in San Francisco on washington and mason streets, that the park and Rec Commission was recommended that they do so, we were given a oneday notice, and we put it on the facebook and all of the various media. We had 5000 signatures in support within that one day. And then the parks and Rec Commission, through the thankfully nomination of the name of the late and great betty and. The sorts of fights have happened over the years as the country has try to deal with the longterm effects. Everyone remembers the short term effects of 9 11. I think that what you are seeing now is there are tougher and tougher conversations about the longterm effects. One of them is we are going to reach a point fairly soon where more people will have died from 9 11 related illnesses than were killed on 9 11 itself. That is something that we are grappling was still. When it comes to the compensation fund, how many people have applied for some sort of help by use of that fund . There are about 20,000 applications that of been accepted. There is a similar number that are essentially pending and need to be reviewed. They expect more applications to keep coming in. The problem they were facing earlier this year was that the fund was quickly running out of money, much faster than anyone had anticipated working so what is happened in july was lawmakers finally got around to putting more money in it to make it longterm viable so the people who apply can keep Getting Compensation if they get sick and die. One for the road. We mentioned earlier in the newscast where we were on 9 11. I was a rung young reporter and petite in topeka kansas. Is there something that you continuously think about every anniversary here . Absolutely. Happen to be a reporter in new york at that time, and i was working at the new york post, but i covered it extensively. It was obviously incredibly a difficult time but in credibly important work. It wasnt until days later that i found out that two people that i knew were killed in the attack because i was so busy working and there was so much confusion. I think about the example that my friends set in their lives. Not necessarily on the day that they die, but that also. That is what worth that is what was worth remembering. We appreciate the time.
