Lets bring rosemary into talk about the winds in that area right now. Of course, we know that the red flag warning and the wind advisory are pretty much bay area why when it comes to north bay, east bay but our focus of being on the north bank because those winds were hitting near 90 Miles Per Hour early this morning but in this area, the winds are gusting between 25 and 50 but take a look at what can occur with that type of wind and right now, the closest reading i can find is in and around martinez, a north breeze at about 22 and you get over closer to the diablo range and the winds are closer to 40 Miles Per Hour. Probably somewhere within that. And these winds are going to sustain for a while . They are going to continue as we get into sutil tomorrow. This is video of a friend of mine that sent it in, dr. Bill hemmer, a College Buddy of mine has been watching our coverage and he said you might want to take a look here in vallejo and sure enough, this was right when it started i believe he went over the bridge but you can see the sun and what they were driving through not too long ago. And glen cove, a friend of mine, made the point that they have 1 street in and out which is a concern for the folks so if anybody has to leave at the same time, they will get stuck on the streets thereto because it is one of those builtin communities when you drive down glen cove parkway but there is not several ways to get out of that area. So that is certainly, a situation that we will have to keep a close eye on and throughout the day because this is not going to be a fire that goes out, unfortunately, quickly. So wh the fire out, trying to get people out, the communication going and resources going, what we have not seen, at least i havent seen, have you seen a fire engine yet . Mint ice i thought i saw one there but from an incident command standpoint, there are a lot of challenges with structures and people precariously in their homes, do you evacuate or shelterinplace . You have high voltage lines, buildings on fire, the potential of hazardous materials, chemicals in the area. And a major highway and a bridge. Yes. And they have no power, you cant get information. Lets bring up the power because we have an outage map that came out at 9 00. This will give you an idea of who has power and who does not picked if we can zero in on the, moran, 118,000, you can read them for yourself but as you can see Solano County is where vallejo is and thats 25,000, generally in the Fairfield Area and down towards vallejo. Was been a shutout . I dont believe venetia was out or included in the outage. Mostly because of some ink a lo in the city of been in are underground, not all of them but a good deal of them compared to some of the other communities in these heavily wooded and rural areas. Certainly, it is complicating. It very much is. I asked my friend colleen who said i still have power so venetia and my friend erin, they said they were not out so the 25,000 in solano that is not the been a show vallejo area and that is going to be under an issue if the lines come down and are energized and that will maybe further add to it. How much does that complicated . They can obviously pick up their phone and make phone calls, they can see and smell this smoke but not being able to watch tv and met most people would probably at this point start to leave or they will panic. Yes, panic. That is understandable and you have the highway shutdown in one direction and traffic in the other so can you egress out of their, when glen cove is a one way in, one way out neighborhood . Maybe for folks trying to find an area not involved in the fire, or where the fire is not moving to, they may not egress to another city, it may be a block or two away, something of that nature. Think about it. As we have told you before, the kinkaid Fire Press Conference set for 10 00, we are watching and you can see they are getting ready. We have the Solano County sheriff out there, jonathan cox leading the press conference over the next 24 hours so we are keeping an eye on the situation in vallejo and crockett and martinez as the fires continue to burn. Keep in mind, we cant turn away from the kinkaid fire as well because that has have had 180,000 people out of their homes. The winds have been 90 Miles Per Hour in some of the strongest points and it looks like at this point x of cal fire. Lets listen in. Good morning. This is the 10 am press conference here on the kinkaid incident in Sonoma County. My name is jonathan cox, division chief with Cal Fire Team 6. Just to start off, i remind everybody to mute telephones and if you need to have a conversation, please do that outside. We have multiple representatives behind us today. Please know that if you have oneonone questions for them there will be time afterwards for you to meet individually with them. Additionally, at the conclusion of this englishlanguage press conference, we will have a spanishlanguage version available so should there be the need, that will be available after this one. Just to start things off, im going to give an update on where we left off last night after last nights press conference and kind of set the stage. Overnight we Sonoma County coming from the northerly northeast direction. With that, we had fire activity that increased, spotting ahead of itself and burning into some of the closer areas to the more popular excuse me, more populated spots in the county. With that, firefighters made aggressive attacks on the fire, defending structures as well as dealing with downed trees and down power lines. At the same time the firefight was going on last night and continues today, we had the Incident Commanders at the command post throughout the entire night evaluating the need for additional evacuations throughout the area. At 4 30 this morning, if it additional evacuations were ordered for northern santa rosa and that was based on the current and expected fire conditions. So now i would like to welcome up to the stage to talk about the current weather conditions, National Weather service, mr. Walburn. Good morning. Again, last night on the fire lines, we did get reported wind gusts of 76 Miles Per Hour within the fire environment under those red flag conditions. The red flag warning does continue throughwe still have approximately anfor the red fla in addition, in the firefighting world, we look at humidity values closely. These went down into the Single Digits which is dangerously low, for fire spread. As we look into this afternoon, we are at the peak of the wind event right now. It is important to note if you are down low, places like santa rosa, you may not be feeling the winds quite as strongly but as you move up, every 500 to 1000 feet now there is very strong winds aloft. At the start of the press conference, we were getting winds on the order of 70 to 80 Miles Per Hour at 3 to 4000 feet. We still have another good 24 hours or so, dangerous red flag conditions. Things will improve as we head into monday and tuesday but we need to be resilient as we look. We have another northwind event, another dry event that will impact region tuesday night into wednesday. Thank you. Speaking next from Management Team six mass will be fire analyst, Steve Ballmer. Good morning. Last night we saw an increase in fire behaviorthe meteorologists those winds that pushed the fire down into 126 corner into those communities. We have got spotting potentials up to and over 1 mile in certain areas. We have rates of spread that are extremely dangerous at this point with erratic fire behavior. This fire, we know what it is doing, where it is going to go. The problem is when we have a new start, those news starts that we are going to get are going to be very problematic. They are going to have the same effects as this fire right here. The same rates of spread, same spotting potential. If anything starts on the opposite side of 101, the westside, that area has not seen any fire history since the 1940s. So the fuels in that area are extremely dense, extremely old and decadent and extremely dry. So we are currently modeling all of the fire behavior potentials that we can have for this fire that we have got, the kinkaid as well as for other areas in the surrounding location that could be potential problems. Thank you. We are going to introduce one of the Incident Commanders, mike blankenhorn, behind me. He will give us a into the current status behind the on the map. Good morning, all. Just to echo what the other men have talked about, we saw those conditions materialize about am weather showed up again as predicted we saw the fire conditions that Steve Ballmer talked about. Here in 1 00 in the morning, the fire made rapid runs to the south and west and by about probably 2 30, 3 00 in the morning had crossed 128. The fire right now is fairly wellestablished on the south and west side of 128 in between 128 and highway 101. It has not cross highway 101 yet. But it is starting to impact highway 101 between healdsburg and winds are. So with that, the priorities will continue to be the westside, southside and keep crossing highway 101. If we are not able to do that, the map looks quite a bit different than what you saw yesterday. We built a pretty expensive organization on the west side of highway 101 to deal with that if it comes across the highway if it starts making a run into the communities west of there. We have the organization build and staff so we across. Thank you. Thanks, just so we can get the chief back to the command center, can we have anyone who has questions specifically to the fire operations right now . If they have any questions for chief blankenhorn, now would be the correct time. People on the west side of 101 have to be concerned that it could spread on the west side of 101 . I think given the current and predicted fire conditions, i think very concerned. Like you can see the map there, we have built a fairly extensive organization and staffing right now and working with partners in Law Enforcement building evacuation plans that they will speak to in a few minutes so the shorter answer is im very concerned. Area of danger that is where it is currently impacting. There are plenty of other places a could possibly cross that but the current impact right now is the area you described. Thank you, chief blankenhorn. Next i would like to invite to the podium the sheriff for Sonoma County, sheriff essec. It was quite a night, over 180,000 people under evacuation, some were evacuated yesterday and last night including the areas around sebastopol and west county and i can say though i have heard people express concerns that we were evacuating too many people, i think those concerns are not valid at this point. As we see from this report we just received, our evacuation of healdsburg and windsor was well warranted. There is significant danger to anybody still in the healdsburg, windsor area or the unincorporated areas around windsor so if you are in those areas, we encourage you to get out. We have deputies and peace officers in the neighborhoods that can assist you. If you are not sure if youre in an evacuation area, check the map. We have plenty of maps available. You can get them on Sonoma County. Org as well as some of the cal fire websites. We currently have over 262 peace officers in the field and those are supplemented by the National Guard. We are using our peace officers and the National Guard to maintain checkpoints for evacuation areas. We are also having that Strong Police presence there to really assure people that if they have evacuated, their property, their homes will be safe. We have not had any reports of looting at this point and as far as im concerned, we will taken aggressive standpoint on looting. We will not tolerate it and thats why we have so many peace officers in your neighborhoods to protect your property. One thing you can continue to do, if you hear a high low sirens, be alert to that. We have deputies in the field evacuating including the west county. Some of those expanded evacuation zones as well. If you hear the high low sirens take note of it. That means deputies in your area, go to that deputy or peace officer and they will direct you and give you instructions. The one thing we dont want you to do is we dont want you to call 911 with questions. The 911 center is very busy right now. We are going to use 911 for only really one reason right now in the evacuation part of this. If you have a medical need or medical inability that prevents you from evacuating, call 911 and we will get peace officers there and medical personnel there to get you evacuated. If you have questions about the evacuation process, please call 211 and we will get you general information. Please continue to follow us on nick so. Sign up fora coalert, son of for facebook and twitter and instagram. Week will continue to update as long as we have to medications and power and will respond to serving Sonoma County for 170 years. This is our strongest moment now. Our staff are out there, ready to go and they are here to serve you so please, seek out our deputies, our partners and we will take care of you. Thank you. Speaking next and the california Highway Patrol is chief nice. Good morning, everybody. Tim noyce, Highway Patrol. Evacuations going out, a lot of people were evacuating and you saw a great deal of traffic and we appreciate the fact that everybody was heading southbound. I want to thank everybody because even though it was heavy traffic, we did not have Major Incidents and that helped to keep the flow going as quickly as we did. We still have a heavy flow this morning going southbound. Please continue to heed Evacuation Orders. This is a Major Incident and we are still bringing in Additional Resources, not just locally but regionally and we need these roadways cleared to move these and we have a lot of emergency situations. This is really fluid so we equi quickly back and forth so if you have nothing to do with the area, please stay out of the area and keep the roadways clear. We did have the 101 closed the this morning. Were able to reopen it but i hate to inform you that as we are speaking, we are reclosing the 101 freeway from arata to dry creek due to no visibility pretty much across the roadway through that area. And due to heavy smoke, we are going to be moving a lot of equipment to that area so please, stay away from the area and we will continue to try and keep the roadways as clear as possible. For everybody else, just please, keep using your patience and calmly evacuate like you have been in the area. The power t or flashing traffic as stop signs. For those of you stopping, dont assume the other vehicle will stop. Make sure it is clear because we want everyone to be safe and get out of here as quickly as possible. Every time we have something, more resources being tied up to help everybody else. Thank you. Next representing the Sonoma County board of supervisors, supervisor rabbit. Thank you very much. First off i have to say how grateful we are to all of the firefighters, Law Enforcement personnel and to all of those who have come to Sonoma County in our time of need, we know that last night, in spite of our obvious concerns going forward, it could have been much worse. Without the battle fought by the firefighters out there. It was a full court press they put on last night and that remains the case as we speak. We know there aid here in Sonoma County. We know we not out of the woods and the wind conditions that were ferocious continued even today as you hurt and the red flag warning remains in effect. We acuated areas. We ask everyone to stay off the roads as well. We ask everyone to take care of themselves, take care of your family, your neighbors, Public Safety is our highest priority. There are no Evacuation Centers being set up as we speak. I can tell you that Napa Valley College is an Evacuation Center now, Crosswalk Community church in napa also has facilities. The marin county fairgrounds is also open to residents of the Sonoma County who are evacuating. Lastly, the Alameda County fairgrounds is another spot where you can take large animals. So thank you for that. Again, Public Safety is our number one concern. We need to let the firefighters be able to do their jobs. We appreciate the orderly evacuation that took place and the great job by the sheriff but we need to stay safe, stay vigilant, make sure that you are signed up for alerts as we recommend that you look at socoemergency. Org for more information. I want to thank everyone and those who have been evacuated and the collaboration has been wonderful so thank you very much. In regards to the evacuation zones, the map you see behind me, the fire map that many of you are streaming has the most current evacuations in Sonoma County. That includes zones 1, 2, 3 im a 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and in the area of northern Sonoma County, if they are not in an evacuation area to obviously have a plan that includes what things they might need such as paperwork, pills, pets, documents and photos. Should we need to expand Evacuation Orders into other areas, that is probably the single most important thing people can do right now if they are outside of an evacuation zone currently. We have 3000 firefighters now on the line including a significant number of air resources. Air resources will be out there throughout the day. We have an air attack officer at Higher Elevation bringing in aircraft when the targets of opportunity present themselves within the realms of wing speed and visibility. Finally, i want to say thank you to every number of the public who has assisted the firefighters by evacuating early. We are only successful when the public does evacuate and we from the bottom of our hearts thank you for evacuating early. That really does help our efforts. With that, i would like to open it up to any questions from the media for any of the speakers behind me. Can you repeat what area in the 1940s . Are you talking about the hanley fire or different fire . You said, you said there was a lot of fuel there. Youre talking about the west side of 101. We can get you fire information about fire history. We do know that a lot of fires in california tend to burn in the same locations. The tubbs fire was an example of that, the hanley fire from the 1960 so we do look back the lastres burn a they behaved to try to help us in the current situations to look at how if the fire gets that location, where it is likely to move. That is a great question. We are talking about napa county and calistoga. Our liaisons and of all of the liaisons and Incident Commanders are working with the surrounding communities, napa county, they are working on looking up at the potential impact is on there and if that decision is made, it will be broadcast. I believe it is just spot fires but it is fairly close to 101 between 128 and 101 currently. Hence the reason 101 isy with the wind still pushing directly west, it is jumping, possibly 101. W the fire around their bad in terms of trying to get as far as visibility goes with the naked eye looking down from an aircraft, smoke can be a hindrance to us. We do have the ability to once or so a day, get infrared up there and look at where the heat is with infrared cameras that look through the smoke so that is done on a cycle and will obviously, once that is done we can see more of where the smoke is. I would say right now with the wind we are getting at Higher Elevations we are just seeing the spotting issues that we have ahead of ourselves as soon as the map is produced. It is changed since that moment. So there is a lot of concern out there for the progression of the spots that we are seeing. Does the spotting affect in an hour or two . Absolutely, yes. Yes, a rough estimate right now is noobviously, we are in a little bit of a defensive position with Mother Nature at the moment and that is always having the potential to change but november 7 is our target. How close is it to we have a whole liaison shop on the instant Incident Command Team and those Liaison Officers specifically work with other stakeholders external to the actual incident itself so utilities is a part of that. Okay, well i thank everyone for being here. A reminder, we will have a spanishlanguage version at the conclusion of this socontinue t us on this fight for under cont is when we are looking at so we talked about the long road ahead, we have to get through the next 12 hours and try to do that. How they put a number on that or a date on that . It is really scientific in terms of analytics. That is going to move. They are trying to figure out a point but right now the biggest focus on what i heard that stands out was the Incident Commander in chief, mike blank and chaim say, im very concerned. That tells us this is an active incident and they are worried about getting over 101 and they talked about it this morning, too. So far, as devastating as the fire has been in terms of loss of structures, knock on wood, we have not lost any lives. They are trying to keep the fire away from a populated area. We also talked about having it jump 101 on the western side of Sonoma County. They said they really have not had a fire incident there since the 1940s so with your fire background, you can only imagine what is built up in the last 60 to 70 years. We were talking about it earlier. The fuel load and how much it has not burned so that fuel load is just dense and tall. The fire behavior analysts talked about low humidity, high winds, so we are still in a very dynamic situation here. And messaging seems to be the thing for everyone who got out, okay, heres what i wanted to tell you. One, evacuations were not too much because the sheriff said they were warranted. To get people out, make sure you get a pic the lunar thing, it will not be tolerated, stay out of our neighborhoods. To anyone who is trying to get back in or there is a lot of messaging going on to reinforce the people i have been told. I think in the hours, the initial hours people are cooperative and afterwards, people start panicking, wanted to go back to their houses, saying, the wind is better now so that really clogs up the situation when the bulk of what we are talking about in terms of a very windy day into tomorrow exists. To your point, the fire behavior analyst was talk, i th National Weather service gentlemen, too that at the low lying areas, youre not feeling a lot of winds but you go 500 feet up, 500 feet up, you are getting more severe winds and that is what we are seeing in some of these instances so it can lull you into a false sense of security. We see a lot of people think its not windy, what are they talking about . They dont know what theyre talking about. We all become a desktop meteorologist to say, no, its fine. We have heard that also on the power safety shut off. Well, there is no wind in my neighborhood, while we shutting it down . Thats because you have to shut it down in a certain area that might not be affected because the area that serves in that energized gap is an intercessor area. We talked about the Sonoma County shares patrolling the areas of windsor and healdsburg that have been hit by the fire, they have 262 peace officers protecting property. They have brought in the National Guard so this all triggers all of this from the very top. Things start to fall. Absolutely and he was very stern about what he said in terms of looting. Yes. So they have also been aggressive in terms of Law Enforcement to make sure they have enough Police Officers to protect those homes and businesses so they are not only thinking about saving lives but they are also thinking about how to protect the properties. People dont want to leave if they think they are leaving their home of vulnerable. They are saying you can leave it in our care. What you were saying earlier is when you tell an entire city to leave, entire city of hillsboro, leave. Leave your workplaces and your homes, we will take care of it. You are taking over the care of that entire city and people look to you to say is it going to be okay. For people thinking about leaving or not, the other part of this is there will be utilities shutdown because of the fire, not necessarily the Public Safety power shutdown but if that were not affecting that area, it will be shutdown in terms of power so you might not have water or power for a while. Yes. So it might be a smart thing to get out anyway and you can always come back. Back. We will looking at the incident map and it is maybe a good time to remind people how unprecedented this is picked you have a number there on your screen. 180,000 people under mandatory evacuation. The sheriffs apartment is saying this is the biggest evacuation event that any of us in this department can remember that you also have all of these people without power all over the bay area. I mean thousands and thousands and these are customers so when you go to homes, or actual people, you are talk about 2. 5 Million People in the dark and then you have the added issue that the wind brought down other power lines so santa rosa, they say, yes, we had part of our city that was under this plan power outage but we had part of the city that wasnt and they have now lost power because of the winds that have downed power poles and that is what we were concerned about. Im getting tweets and messages from people in venetia saying when we were not part of the planned power outage and the power is out we think because of the wind and fire going on. And vallejo side. Yes and vallejo and we dont know what to attribute their power outage to accept that we know it is ongoing. Especially when we see the fires going on across the bay area. We have had okay, clay, crockett, vallejo, and looking on the chp reporting lots, they report the fire is everywhere and they are confirming that 80 is it closed through that area, it is an interstate. Anyone coming through that area is going to be effected by this. We saw a lot of confusion, people are asking, what should i do. A lot of people may be coming back from tahoe and sacramento, they might come down 680 or 580 so the highways are going be crowded. This is my friend here. Thats a big swath of the fire you are seeing on that side. And the good thing about your friend going through this sthaw can keepother people that we saw were stuck, they were sitting there as the fires burned all around them. They were surrounded by smoke and you have to wonder if they are saying, where do you go. People were turning around on the bridges and going the wrong way which is obviously dangerous, you never see that bridge empty, now it is empty of traffic. It looks like there is Defensible Space to some degree, in this shot, the smoke and the fire is moving away from some of the homes but there are still structures that are threatened. This is a dynamic incident that is going to effect things. To turn on a dime, richmond, do they come as one. I imagine that the Incident Commander has requested mutual aid, he is going to get Fire Departments from the north part of the state. They have mutual aid channels and plans that are already laid out and they know what resources are to be spent but because so much activity is taking place, there has to be some work on where they put resources. I assume you are not going to see resources there bawses you want to get them to the other side of the bridge. When people are without power, you can watch us on your phones, normally in a situation like this people turn on their tv and say what should i do, not having power is increasing that fear level. Go back to a man who sent a tweet. We are going to have this one major way out of the point as a emergency manager, the number one priority in a disaster is power, if you can get power restored, it solves problems in many other areas, for instance during Hurricane Sandy on long island that was the largest power outage, seven days 3. 2 Million People without power, we are not using to not having power, if you want to go to the atm or get groceries, use your charge card, all of that is not working, we take it for granted at times, now without power it compounds it. In terms of public response, they have generators that communicate but that does not mean that it does not create problems especially in water districts is where people trying to communicate. The extra costa Fire Department is prompting an immediate Evacuation Order for crockett residents, an Evacuation Order for the rest of crockett. You may need sto get out of town for those specific areas, thats get out now, thats an Evacuation Order. Leave that area and for the rest of the little town everyone should pack their go bag and be ready to head out. We are talking about the difference between a warning and an order. A warning, be prepared to evacuate. An order, go. We are going to check in here for a moment. Sarah joins us with more from the briefing. We just finished up the briefing, there are multiple officials out there talking, you can see how windy it still is. To speak of that wind event, its still underway. There was so much fire activity that happened overnight. It made the fire expand more than we expected it to. Gusts upwards of 76 Miles Per Hour within the fire environment. A serious situation, we still have a red flag warning for 24 hours more. This is video when we were surrounded by fire, a lot of homes had been taken down in the areas that we were. We learned that the chp is shutting down 101 by dry creek road because of lower visibility and fire activity in that area, definitely avoid in that area, an official said that people along the 101 should be concerned. They hope that the fire does not continue to go across that it area and jump 101, that is a concern, cal fire is trying to prevent the fire from moving across 101, the towns, everyone in the towns were told to leave. The snow ma county sheriff said that was warranted. Look, parse of this area devastated by the fire. There were some homes take down, cars on fire, a lot of land that was completely scorched. The good news is that no reports of looting have happened. We were assured no reports of l thing to do if you get that evacuation notice, you should not be worried if there is looting going on. There are hundreds of Law Enforcement officers in these areas to make sure that looting does not happen. Highway 101 in boaks directions shut down, chp just tweeted that out. Definitely keeping an eye on the fire, we by no means out of the woods yet. We are in the peak of this wind event t we are still under those red flag warnings for another 24 hours and there could be another wind event tuesday, they gave an estimated time for containment of the kincaid fire, november seventh for containment. They want to make people understand that we are still in the middle of it. People went to bed thinking, will we get through the night. Some parts are now ak but there is a lot of road ahead. Its interesting, a lot of people in santa rosa went to bed hoping that they would be okay, i got a phone call in the middle of the night from the Sonoma County sheriffs office, it said that parts of santa rosa were to be evacuated. The weather is so unpredictable. You never know what will happen. We were doing our live shots and all of a sudden we saw a huge black plume of smoke and there was a house on fire, by no means are we out of the woods yet. You touched on this but the Sonoma County sheriff was adamant about 262 peace officers there to inspect the property. Get out. Go south. Yes, when we were driving through this area, i saw a sign that was spray painted. Some people may not understand the gravity of the situation. If you are told to get out you need to do that. You should listen to those warnings and there are hundreds of officers out there to protect the properties from the leaders. Lets go over to rose mary, the National Weather service just tweeted out something. Its windy with gusts of 70 Miles Per Hour. Thats what you have been saying, some places may feel like we are out but we are still in it. We see the winds lightning into the later part of the morning and into the afternoon but they are not going away, we are going to remain breezy and windy throughout. Through tonight, the red flag warning does not expire, there is also a wind advisory and warning, looking at the north bay, look at mount saint helena, 86 Miles Per Hour winds, hawk eye, 54 Miles Per Hour wind gusts, the winds coming in from the north east and there was hope that the north east winds blow smoke towards the pacific ocean, now we have several fires burning, we have poor air quality throughout. If you look you dry and wind is driving and fanning the flames in theast where we have areas around martinez, winds at 20 Miles Per Hour. In the crockett area where we have the fire burning, the flow is primarily north east. Downwind of the smoke, berkeley, kensington and the san pablo area you are likely to get that smoke, one more shift to the uner east bay, this is oakley. The winds are sustained at 25 Miles Per Hour. Some of the strongest winds earlier this morning in the 93 per hour earlier, still blowing strong at mount saint helena. Also our valley lakeses reporting 40 Miles Per Hour to 50 Miles Per Hour winds, getting into the future cast, notice the yellow and the orange, there is 4 00 in the afternoon. As we get into the evening hours, it shifts and we continue to die down by tomorrow morning. We should be in better shape at least when it comes to the wind. The advisory goes until 11 00, as far as temperatures outside. 63 in berkeley, 59 in San Francisco. Lower in areas of san jose, temperatures on the mild side. The last wind event we had we had a lot of heat. Upper 70s this how ward and areas of concord but we are still dry, a low with the relative humidity and there is the extend the forecast, temperatures expected to cool monday into tuesday, back up wednesday into thursday but the extended models are looking dry. Back to you. Thank you, it has been a busy morning, we wish the winds would die down faster than they are, its going to be a long day, we continue to follow several different fires, we see all of these fires popping up in the morning, oakley and south San Francisco. That is in addition to the fires that we saw burning and continuing to burn in the north bay, it is devastation that daylight revealed and in many of the cases there was nothing, there were walls. We saw this where all that you had was the burning. Do you remember the paradise nier fire or fountain looks like a lunar landscape. This is hillsborough, both of you were up there, you can watch the fire burning with the wind. How do you find the fire. Proteching the structures, they are not fighting the fire when the winds were at that great peak, i am sure that they are more aggressive. 10 containment. Thats a lot of fire that has a lot of room to start moving, when you have the big winds, it is a mile or half a mile out. You go somewhere else and start a fire, thats what we have seen all around the bay area in a lot of situations, you know we keep an eye on the situation, we are getting another report of another fire in berkeley, a small brush fire that we can see spreading quickly, these are in densely populated areas, not to take away from what is happening, it happens in denly populated areas, the wineries we have lost like soda rock and field stone, our crews have made their way around homes and areas in between, its not like one hoament after the next. It does not talk away from the history from 150 years makes a you are talking about the numbers of homes and the numbers of families effected. If it crosses 101 we are in different territory. Absolutely. We heard from cal fire. They are ready. They are ready. Yes. They are at that line. You can say that, you can bring in resources but sometimes Mother Nature has a different plan. Talk about having the time to prepare as opposed to the atlas fire and the tubs fire when they came over the mountain and said here we go. In this case there was enough advance notice for the Weather Service to be able to tell us that we have to start evacuation, previous fires we did not have that, its been huge. Huge. This evacuation is going to be longer in the north bay, you do not move out 100 or 1,000 people easily and you do not move them back easily, we have the summer lake fire that was stopped in 25acres, that was this oakley. The leon fire has also passed. We are now able to tell those folks that firefighters are saying they can move back into their homes as soon as the Fire Equipment is moved out. Thats a quicker time frame for the smaller fires, the silver lining, everyone can focus their attention to the bigger fires. Certainly all of these little fires stretch resources that were already stretched thin. Its bad that we lost 31 homes, this could be worse, the unified command and the evacuations and the deployment of resources and the management and the consequence management has been wonderful. They have done a great job. We are going to, over time we are still in a situation not just with the country kaid but with the other fires north and south that are presenting some challenges here. Do we still have alissa on the phone. Are you there . She had a busy morning shes been all over the map keeping an eye on the situation in the north bay and tell us where you are now and what you continue to see as you have made your way around. Right now we are in the santa rosa ck where the fire is burning not too far from here, there is a human plume of smoke, we are still seeing a lot of smoke, still smelling a lot of smoke, we are seeing what looks like the National Guard driving through the santa rosa area, we may see what that is about. It was absolutely devastating this morning seeing the fire impacting the alexander valley, there are vineyards, we went to one winery that had been destroyed. Soda rock winery, all that was left standing was the rock wall. We lost everything inside. It was a big pile of debris, it was very difficult to see that, that building had been there for 150 years, so much history there. Just looking at the damage that the fire has done, it was difficult to see. Another thing we saw, the fire had impacted several residents there. There were firefighters along the road trying to protect the homes along the road. One thing i should note is that as you get to the Higher Elevations, the wind gusts are extremely strong, the gusts can knock you off your feet. They came out of nowhere and lasted for a long time. That was one thing that i noticed this morning, the wind activity. It brought to light the challenges that the firefighters are having preventing the fire from spreading. I am interested in the National Guard. They were asking for help and talking about mutual aid as they try to protect the neighborhoods not just from the fire but from safety and security for people. To ease their mind as this process looks like it could be a while. How Many National saw three and driving, i was at the press conference yesterday when the communities were preparing to evacuate. They talked about how they were bringing in Additional Resources to prevent looters from getting into the area, that makes sure that we get everything out safely. How about the traffic. I assume you are heading south bound down 101, north bound has been reopened. What is it like coming down . Not a lot of trouble at all. Only a few cars, we have seen a lot urp driving at 4 30 in the morning it was absolute gridlock. People trying to get out of the santa rosa area, with the belongings and their trailers and their trailers. And a little confusion with the 101 closing and reopening. Are you doing okay. Out of the bedroom. I know that the air quality is not great. I know when shes winds die down, they have a big fish to fry. Just looking at the map. What are you doing. We talked about this earlier, the on ramp of the red area, the fire area and the purple area is the mandatory evacuation going all the way to the 20 miles for evacuation, they said its overly aggressive, probably to some degree but it has saved lives. Firefighters tend to be the ones that people appreciate but there is a lot of other folks working hard. Red cross staffing the shelters. The National Guard that come in had help the firefighters, they are the only Army Air Force navy, they cannot carry live weapons because of the laws so the National Guard in the states are the ones that can help out Law Enforcement. Absolutely, they coordinate the staff. Absolutely. We want to let you listen to something from the Sonoma County sheriffs. We have 180,000 people under evacuation right now, from the evacuations yesterday afternoon and through the night they included the areas around sepastapool. I heard concerns that we were evacuated too many people those concerns are not valid at this point. Our evacuation ever hillsburgh and windsor, there are still significant danger, if you are in that area, please fur in those areas we are encouraging you to get out. The sheriff knows that some people are going to say, come on. Why do we have to go. We heard this from pg e e people are like turn the power back on, i do not like it. But we are also seeing a lot of what they said coming true. We have already gone think this once, last night, a viewer could see the orange glow from 10 miles away. We have all learned how quickly things can change, we used to say its on the ridge i have some time now we are are cognizant about how the time can pass more quickly, we are watching twitter we are seeing downed trees and carports in fremont. Then we have this ongoing fire in the crockett have a is lay hoe area, highway 80 is shut down, crockett has been under an Evacuation Order and warning in addition to see on the screen with the kincaid fire. 180,000 people in Sonoma County are evacuated. They closed the area down, a portion of 101, they have closed it and opened it and now they have closed it again to get vehicles in. If you listen to cal fire they said they are putting their resources on the other side to protect the areas. They do not want it to jump on the west side of Sonoma County. Fight. Een 1940 since they inci that goes across the state. Sti point where things onths if not years but we are not close to talking about that yet. We have to survive today and through tomorrow and then the weeks to come and the recovery and the power being turned on. The bridge is open, by the way, the glen cove fire is still burning in contra costa county, we have so many fires going on right now. Maybe the most important thing of all, no lives lost at all. We are considering the scale of the fire. Thats why the message is so important, they want to keep it that way. I would rather be criticized for having an evacuation that was not necessary than have not if we learned anything from the tubs fire, escaping in the middle of the night is not what anyone else wants to see again. That is in our minds, its an example of how quickly and how devastating the fire can be. By the time daylight came the fire was gone. By the map. That winery is 8 miles from the original point of the fire. In reference, thats like the border, the city limit of San Francisco to the san ma san mateo bridge in a matter of hours, so the viewers, ts important part is to heed the evacuation warnings. We have t
