We may not have an official winner for a couple of days. According to San Franciscos department of elections, right now, susie leads by just 240 votes. All of the citys precincts have reported. This afternoon, the elecrelease vote totals as mailin ballots come in and are counted. Last night, led in first place. So, since none of the four candidates have the majority, San Franciscos voting put her ahead as she got more second and third place votes. This is how the rank system played out. His votes were distributed to other candidates who were second choice among supporters. Then candidate nancy was eliminated and her votes were distributed. Thats when loftus took the lead. Well start with proposition a. It was overwelmingly passed. Almost 70 of the yes vote. It lets the city sell 600 million in bonds to pay for affordable housing. Proposition e focuses on housing. As well as future housing to be built on public land, which is currently forbidden. Almost 75 of voters voted in favor of proposition e. The most expensive proposition on the San Francisco ballot was proposition c. It aimed to overturn a city wide ban on the sale of ecigarettes starting next year. Tobacco groups spent millions of dollars in support of prop c, but voters overwelmingly rejected it. 80 to 20 . Proposition d is too close to call this morning. It would impose a tax on ride share tax. Right now, yes has about 2 3 support. The tax would bring in more than 30 million every year for transit improvement projects. A lot of the trucks have signs in front of them and really driving in a square to keep the focus on getting the attention of either Assembly Members or state senators. A lot of these drivers say they like to work as independent Owner Operator truckers and allows them to set their own hours, be their own bosses and earn more money. Thats why they are looking for an exception. This law will force them out of business, others are concerned that they spent roughly 200,000 or more on their truck to be fully compliant with new federal and state regulations and we also spoke with an owner of a Trucking Company here in San Francisco. He says he cant afford to hire all of these independent drivers as his employees. I have projects that i signed contracts for next year that require 80 trucks a day. That means i have to put my 20 Company Drivers on that project and use Owner Operators to complete the job. Im not going to be able to do it. Reporter the governor signed 85 into law in september. The state says that more than a million californians have been misclassified by employers who are looking to cut costs. This law will restore their classifications, helping gain access to basic labor rights, including minimum wage, overtime, unemployment coverage, among other things. But Truck Drivers say they have been in the business for decades and it has always been one way. The majority are independent Owner Operators of their own trucks and so making them employees of a company will really hurt their bottom line and a lot of companies wouldnt afford, or couldnt be able to afford to hire them. The city council will vote on the ordinance once its prepared. Police are investigating the Fatal Shooting of a teenage girl. Officers received several calls about shots fired in a neighborhood near hill crest in bell flower drive just after 7 00 last night. Two men fired several shots and ran away. Also a call from someone saying they have been shot and driving to the hospital in antioch. The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. A 17yearold boy with her was also hurt. He is expected to survive. Police dont have a description of the attacker. The City Council Unanimously approved a 45 day moratorium on shortterm housing rentals where host is not on the property. This comes after a shooting at a Halloween Party that left five people dead. People packed last nights meeting with most of them calling for limiting or banning no host shortterm rentals. Investigators in mexico report an arrest in the massacre of Nine Americans, six kids and three women were killed monday when their vehicles came under attack by cartel. They came up to the vehicle, shot more shots, raided the vehicle, and then set it ablaze and burned everybody alive. Authorities are reportedly looking into whether the victims got caught in the cross fire of cartel violence, or if they were targeted. Several other children were shot, but survived and were able to hide. One of them, a 13yearold boy is hailed a hero for walking some five miles to get help. A statement from the areas Investigation Agency now says they apprehended a suspect near the u. S. Border town of douglas, arizona, not far from the attack. It it was the deadliest, most destructive wild fire in california history. It killed 85 people. 95 of the town of paradise was destroyed and about 3,000 people have come back to the town and nearly 200 grocery stores, restaurants, and businesses have reopened. Nine homes have been rebuilt since that fire with most people in town still living in trailers. By the end of the year, more than 500 houses should be in the process of being built. The Sheriffs Office announced that the two suspected murders who escaped the jail have been captured. Those two escaped inmates left the jail on sunday morning from the jail in salinas. They were both awaiting trial on separate murder cases. Authorities have not released any information right now about how these fugitives were captured. They did mention they were arrested by u. S. Customs and border protection. The Monterey County sheriff will hold a News Conference at 11 00 this morning when we expect to get more information on todays capture. Bart and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency have teamed up to hire urban elevator attendants at montgomery street. The program was first introduced at Civic Center Stations last year.
