To San Francisco where there is a massive protest underway in the mission district. Thousands of people are taking part. The march started at Mission High School on 18th street next to dolores park. The crowd marched to the Mission Police station a few blocks away and they kept on going. We are not sure where they are headed now. This protest, to give you an idea of how large it is, you can see from these pictures, it probably stretches 20 blocks or more. As a result, a lot of streets in that area, run Mission High School, are shut down. Christian captain is on the scene. This protest is massive and is started at 4. It is nice to say that everything has been peaceful so far. Reporter so far, ive heard that it has been largely very peaceful. This is exactly what people should be doing if they see something that is outrageous. You can see this is the crowd that is left here at Mission Dolores park. That crowd on the move. Frank, you talked about it before how this is a large crowd. We had a sense that this is going be a large demonstration. We got the crowd to be in the 5000 range, new estimates that this crowd is somewhere in the 1216,000 range. Another words, 1216,000 people out here. Theyve moved largely away from the park. Maybe a few people who are here, stragglers in the area. If we go to the helicopter, we get a sense of the scope of this. The sprawling demonstration, really moving out in all directions around dolores park. Again, with that 16,000 people, to give you a sense. I was talking to my photographer and he said it feels a lot like when a warriors game lets out. That is how the dents the crowd is. That is how may people are here on scene. That crowd, it is on the move. It is not in one piece. It is not one massive crowd. They have split up. Were hearing that one condition, one part of the crowd is heading over to the Mission Police station which is close to where we are right now. 19 then dolores. We have heard reports that another part of that crowd is on its way to 850 bright, thats all of justice, the Court Building here in San Francisco, the criminal Court Building in San Francisco. We will monitor that crowd is a buser San Francisco. Another thing you mention frank, this is having an impact on traffic in the area. We saw some ad hoc Traffic Organization by some members of the crowd trying to move cars through, trying to make sure those cars were avoiding the large crowds that were out here. I can also tell you that i received an alert from muny saying that muny service has been shifted in the area and shifted to accommodate the large demonstration that is underway. To make sure the buses are trapped in the mist of this crowd. But again, were hearing that this is a peaceful crowd. Weve seen a lot of families. Ive seen numerous young people, people with children and babies. This is a very large crowd. We are looking at somewhere in the range of 1216,000 people. That crowd is mining its way through the streets of San Francisco. Were hearing reports that one part of that crowd may be headed to Mission Police station. Another part of the crowd might be heading over to a 50 bright. We will monitor the crowd as it moves through San Francisco. We will continue to monitor those locations and update you as the evening goes on. And one final note here frank. All of this is on the backdrop of that curfew that is in effect here in San Francisco. Right now, it is 6 05 pm. That means that curfew goes into effect here in San Francisco at 8 00. That means an hour and 55 minutes left until the curfew goes into effect. It is hard to believe that that crowd of 1216,000 people will disperse before that curfew takes effect. Christian, the crowd is just monstrous. When you watch the helicopter pictures, literally, it must stretch for 20 blocks or longer. Have you seen a lot of police out there . We did see the police set up barriers run the Mission Police station. They held a protesters off. We didnt see any problems. Just a line of police. The protesters came up and it appeared they continue to move on. Did you see a lot of officers out there as well . Were they kind of keeping their distance . Reporter frank, thats exactly the way you described it. As i move from one side of the demonstration and the other, i started on the west side and made my way over here and then to the east side. I can see the area was surrounded by San Francisco police officers. The officers were not interfering with the crowd. They would talk with people as they come up and have conversations. I saw a fist bump. There is some communication going on. Those officers seem to be, seem to be allowing the demonstrators to exercise their First Amendment rights. Allowing them to block streets and speak out against that injustice that everybody watched unfold on that video. At this point, those officers seem to be in a wait and see mode. Those officers are saying, at this point, there simply here to facilitate free speech. If you dont mind, you guys are here because . Because black lives matter. Reporter when youre today, did you hear that all four officers are facing charges . Hold on for psych. Does that make a difference . Yes. It does. Justice is being served. Justice is being served. Reporter ladies, thank you very much for your time. You can hear that they say those ladies who just drove by in the car and said black lives matter, they have heard about the charges that have unfolded in minnesota. It does make a difference. That was one of the questions that i had for people. What the charges, out of minnesota, be enough . Would they satisfy what this crowd perceives as justice . Can there be justice in the situation, frank . We will monitor the situation in San Francisco, as this crowd, the sprawling crowd of people estimated to 1216,000 people. Christian, thank you.
