The board gave preliminary approval to resolution declaring that racism is a Public Health crisis. The vote was unanimous. It does require a second vote, which is expected in the next few weeks. San franciscos closer now to opening Safe Injection Sites after the board of supervisors unanimously passed the controversial proposal. Mayor london breed has promoted the legislation, which she cosponsored. It would allow nonprofits to operate sites, where people he could legally inject drugs into their system. They say it will help prevent the spread of disease and public drug use. The state Legislature Still needs to pass a bill that would authorize the city to operate Overdose Prevention programs. Thomas advocates in San Francisco are for testing the citys efforts to remove and relocate people who are homeless in the tenderloin neighborhood. Activists demonstrated yesterday outside the police station, he said they are unhappy with the settlement between the city and nearby uc hastings law school. They must clear 300 homeless tents from sidewalks by july 20th. Critics say it criminalizes homelessness.
