Their customary friendship bracelets. Im going to step right into the camera again real quick because i want you to know that i now am an official swiftie fan. It says im electric. Im feeling electric. Many of these young fans, the young fan that gave me this bracelet showing up, theyre showing up here with their swifty dads, those dads who really just want to make their daughters days. I spoke with one of them just a short while ago. Take a listen. First concert, very first concert. And she loves it. Good fourth grade present for her. Very excited. I love her like spirit. So loving and just fun and just encompass this. All the things i kind of think are just amazing for being a woman and being a girl. So those fans, some of the lucky ones, they actually bought their tickets way in advance that dad bought them on ticketmaster ahead of time, only paid around 300 a ticket, which still quite a bit, but not as much as people will have to shell out. Now on the ticket resellers, they are going for about 700 right now. They were 1000. Theyve come down a bit. So still some time to get your ticket. If you havent got your ticket or you cant get a ticket. Well, as taylor swift would say, you are on your own kid. See what i did there . I know the song. We do see what you did there. Okay so from your vantage point, are there still really, really long lines that we saw earlier from skyfox . Because it seems like with that many fans, levi stadium is used to letting in people if they have a ticket. But those lines were so long. So im curious, are people still waiting to get in or is it pretty much smooth sailing here . Well, i mean, take a look. I mean, this is kind of a really fine tuned operation, at least at this point. You know, they have multiple lines, multiple security checkpoints to let these people in. So the lines really not as bad as we saw. Some of those merchant dyes, merchant dyes, retailers the other day. When theres around 2000 people just trying to snag some of that merchandise. There are some lines, though, on the roadways as youre trying to get here. So, you know, certainly something to keep in mind that getting to the parking lot part, that might take you a while once youre here looking pretty good right now. Yeah, looks like everyone is happy and ready to have a great time. And they have their bracelets that give us one more look of those bracelets for you. Sign off for us. Zac sos live at levi stadium. Enjoy the music tonight. I been converted. Heres a check of the traffic maps right now. It is slow going, as you can expect, on highway 237 and on 101. As people make their way to levi stadium, theres a crash at the 101 237 interchange of all things. So santa clara mayor lisa gilmore told swifties very bluntly, do not attempt to drive to tonights show. Many Public Transit systems are extending their hours tonight and tomorrow to accommodate the anticipated influx of riders. Ktvu tom vacar continues. Our Team Coverage from the bart station in milpitas, where riders can connect their with the vta even at midday friday, may swifties took bart to connect with vta at milpitas, which eventually stops at levis stadium. I was recommended that we take transit because the parking was full at the levis stadium, so this just seemed like a better option. We dont want to drive all the way here and find parking, so i feel like its just an easier way there and easier way to get out. Based on the eras tour phenomena on transit operators see this as a golden opportunity to reintroduce tens of thousands of riders on board its as golden as it gets, really across the country. I have read news stories about big surges in transit, ridership among folks going to taylor swift concerts. Theres a ripe opportunity because so many of the of the taylor swift concert goers are younger people whose traveling habits have not yet been formed. To be able to have all of these young people and their families get on the train and get there safely without having to drive and spend money on expensive parking and sit in traffic. The family was in the market to buy last minute tickets. Were actually from canada and we went to San Francisco for a family vacation. And since taylor swift was here at the same time, we managed, why not just go to the show and see . Yeah, like i think getting out is just going to be a nightmare. If driving for those who cant catch the regular trains that end at 1151, there are extended hours and you need to know what they are and where they go. The last train that will get fans from milpitas to any bart station leaves with. 11 51 p. M. But since some fans will stay as late as they can for both concert, bart will run some trains at 12 30 a. M. But the only stop at four stations close to freeways where fans can park at stations with big parking lots where they can begin and end their concert adventure. The bay fair, macarthur, Pleasant Hill and el cerrito del norte safety escorts will accompany bart riders who use these stations from the train to the cars in their parking lots. Walking from the train to the parking lot so you feel nice and safe and taking transit in the middle of the night. These major events really do help transit because people really need to use it, and thats something they havent needed to do for a long time. Tom vacar ktvu fox two news. How do we stop this hamster wheel of crime . Because thats really the question in oakland. Community concerns over rampant crime have reached a boiling point. What are we doing to address this and how do we solve this . Nobody feels safe after a packed Public Safety meeting in montclair, the naacp sent out a letter thursday calling leaders to unite and declare a state of emergency because everyone is in danger. We need help in our community. Its a Public Safety crisis, the letter reads in part, failed leadership, including the movement to defund the police. Our District Attorneys unwillingness to charge and prosecute people who murder and commit life threatening, serious crimes and the proliferation of anti Police Rhetoric have created a heyday for oakland criminals. Its everybody. Everybody is elected official and we have to make sure that we hold everyone accountable. We need to do better as as a Community District attorney, pamela price says shes disappointed the naacp would take a false narrative and previously stressed prosecuting criminals requires evidence that her staff can prove beyond a reasonable doubt. Obviously, our call volumes are very high. I wish i had more officers, i really do. But with record calls, increasing crime and a staffing shortage, some city officials are looking for key solutions. Criminal investigation of serious crimes and our Cease Fire Program to prevent violence. Those are High Priorities and we should not cut staffing in those two areas. Shaw has pleaded not guilty, and his attorney has suggested that some of the comments made by female athletes have been exaggerated. New at six ktvu Bailey Ocarroll spoke with a former san jose state gymnast who says she sexually assaulted her. I think thats what makes this case very emotionally loaded for me is to know how different the trajectory of my life went because of what happened. Its been seven years since amy leclaire was a gymnast at San Jose State University, and since she says she was sexually assaulted by her athletic trainer, scott shaw, to kind of look back on what happened, i think its difficult to think about. You know, this happened when i was 21. I didnt know at the time how much i was going to have to go through to get to this point. Now she wasnt alone. Shaw faced six federal charges for allegedly touching female athletes like leclaire under their bra and underwear during treatment sessions. He pleaded not guilty. It just felt really kind, kind of difficult to see and have that pass kind of resurrected. And so ive been kind of keeping it at arms length, to be honest. I feel like it has been the memories are not pleasant. According to reports. Inside the courtroom, san jose state swim coach sage hopkins, who first reported the alleged abuse to university officials, says 17 swimmers complained about shaw back in 2009. But according to statements in court, a University Investigation cleared shaw. He continued his work with athletes. Seven years later is when leclaire says she was abused. Following an investigation by the department of justice. 5 million in settlements were paid out to some athletes, including leclaire. But this case was complicated because the statute of limitations has passed for many athletes like leclair. Because of that, she and others who accused shah of assaulting them were not invited or legally able to testify. I know so little about whats going on, even though it was so personal to me. Im really seeing everything in the real time that the world sees it. No matter if shaw is found guilty or not, leclaire says it wont turn back the clock in reverse. The alleged abuse. I dont feel like really anything can compare it to what i kind of had to deal with emotionally from a recovery standpoint. What i had to deal with financially instead. This sunday, the annual stern grove festival will feature canadian electronic duo bob moses and pop duo neil francis gates open at noon. The free concerts take place on sunday afternoons during the summer, running through august 20th. Also happening this weekend is the blue note jazz festival up in napa. Here is the lineup for this year that is celebrating its 50th anniversary of hip hop. Performers include mary j. Blige, nas chance, the rapper and robert glasper. The festival runs through sunday. All right. These are the highs from today. And they will be about the same tomorrow, saturday, sunday will be a little bit warmer. Highs today were a little warmer than yesterday. Not a heck of a lot, but a few, maybe 4 or 5 degrees in some places. Thats the trend is a slight warm up here into the weekend. Weve noticed it today. Youll notice it a bit tomorrow. Hey, thats good air quality for this time of year. You see mount diablo like that, you can pick out the oak trees up on the ridge line and the dry out or the wild oak grass. You can see the campanile there. So when you know air quality is not always visual, its ozone. You dont see ground level ozone, but you get a pretty good idea for how clean the atmosphere is by visibility. And in fact, that is a very, very clean atmosphere right now. Weve got a bit of an onshore flow and weve got fog that is trying to form but is having a tough time out there. Itll itll get you back a little bit tonight. Here are the right now temperatures they are running a couple of degrees warmer than they were last night at this time. And so that will ten degrees warmer in concord. So the warmer as well. So as we head into the weekend, more of the same. Again, we showed you the big heat in the Desert Southwest as because of this big high pressure. Its a big dome. Its just been down there and its a battle between this low pressure up here in this high. So when that low gets closer to us, just just a few hundred miles closer to us, it cools off when the low gets pushed a few hundred miles away from us, it heats up. Its going to stay about where it is now and then its going to get pushed away as we go into the middle and middle end of next week, which would mean some real heat. Well see. I mean, thats again, thats a long ways off, but thats the kind of thing were some of the models are suggesting fog not really picking up at the coast right now. Youve got mild conditions coast side clear out at the beaches in many places. So a nice night to be out at ocean beach in San Francisco. The fog forecast for tomorrow morning and then the daytime highs go reds are 90s. Purples are 100. So you kind of see them down there, down towards modesto and out towards bakersfield field. But were going to be away from that. Were going to have temperatures like these generally in the highs in the upper 80s, low 90s round the bay, mid 70s, upper 70s and at the coast low 60s air quality is pretty good to as we go into the next few days air quality will get a little bit not as great but its pretty good in the fire danger always high thats just how that works around here but it could be way, way worse especially i just have actually last week i dont know if you noticed i was gone, but i was down there down towards phenix and vegas and out towards new mexico. And man, it was it was a buck 20 a couple of days in a row. It was hot, hot, hot. And it hasnt stopped out there. So big heat for most of the country. And weve managed to avoid it. Weve also managed to avoid big, big fire issues. Weve had some small fires, but nothing big. Next week that could change a little bit as we go into the middle end of next week. But it feels good to be back in the bay area. Bill, thank you. Many peoples dreams will come true tonight when they see taylor swift perform. And for one fan, tonight is extra special for one reason. Its a day so long awaited its arrival has ariana carlos swaying to the beat and just hours shell see her idol taylor swift up close and personal. It feels great and so happy to know that im going to have 88ft and be able to enjoy the show in a comfortable area. Ariana we first introduced you to ariana in june, the El Camino High School graduate used a wheelchair to cross the stage. Ariana was born with more kio syndrome that ravages her body and stunts her growth. She requires ada seating to see taylor swift since her dad cant carry her up and down rows of seating. Its really fun and exciting to like, see people with the similar interests and, you know, its like were all getting excited and like group chats and like seeing it online and like freaking out its fun. E hit a roadblock after ticket purchases for ada seating failed due to a snafu, so she and her dad made appeals on social media for help from that. I guess people had seen it. And then i got contacted by levis stadium and said they would love to accommodate us and others in our situation. In a statement, levis Stadium Management says we can confirm that the kaylas family has been accommodated and moved to ada seating for their show this weekend. We look forward to hosting them, so we are just ecstatic that miss hughes did that for us and we just want to thank her for the bottom of our heart completely different feeling right now. All thats left is to pick an outfit for an event special enough to make the heart sing. My friends at levis stadium, jesse gary ktvu, fox two news teams everyone is getting in on swift mania. Its not really swapping out its patches and sirens. Some officers, though, are wearing taylor swift, french bracelets, a group of swifties gave them out yesterday at the Santa Clara Police department. They made them for those officers and said it is all part of sharing the warmth of being a taylor swift fan today. Hope its not you with the Mega Millions lottery prize inching toward 1 billion. Many across the country will be checking their numbers tonight. Weve been busy. We have spurts like right now its slow, but once it kicks in, were be nonstop with the big prize at stake. Lottery clerks say even younger people have been buying tickets with some customers spending up to 100. But experts say more tickets doesnt dramatically help your chances, especially when the odds of winning the mega prize are about 1 in 300,000,000. While some play using their own strategy, i play certain numbers, my parents numbers. Also, i like to get a quick pic. Many leave it up to chance. A lot of quick picks. People feel more comfortable with quick picks, but they dont do well with picking their own numbers. Winning the eighth largest jackpot ever would make history. The pot has been growing since april and the Mega Millions winner could either take home a one time payment of about 460 million or take annual payments over 30 years. The money is big, but some people have simple plans if they win, i would pay off my student loans. Everybody has hope. So if i get a little bit, im im satisfied.
