Local COVID death numbers will only be reported once a week

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has begun reporting what they call “provisional COVID-19 deaths” to more closely align with the CDC’s death toll for the state – because of this change officials say the local death counts will only be updated once a week, tentatively on Tuesdays.
Oklahoma State Epidemiologist Dr. Jared Taylor said that the new way the state will report COVID-19 deaths will be the total for the entire state, though they will continue to conduct an Acute Disease Service epidemiological investigation and will report those findings – which includes the local death count – once a week.
