A man suffered a cardiac arrest after being assaulted in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of the morning.
The 23-year-old victim is fighting for his life after reportedly being punched by three men, in Hanover Street, at around 3.40am.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene after the man was punched outside City Buffet restaurant before collapsing.
Merseyside police said that the victim remains in a critical condition in hospital.
