Mansfield town moderator stepping down after 34 years on the job

MANSFIELD – Moderator Robert Saquet will not seek another term, ending a 34-year-run presiding over Mansfield town meetings.
Saquet has held the post since 1987 being reelected each spring to a one-year term. He said he feels now is the time to “pass the gavel” to a successor.
Conservation Commission member Kostos Loukas returned papers this week to run for town moderator in the May 11 elections. Loukas ran unsuccessfully against Saquet in the past and has served as deputy town moderator at recent town meetings.
In other election news, Finance Committee member Walter Wilk has taken out nomination papers to run for Select Board and Select Board member Neil Rhein said he plans to seek reelection but had not yet taken out papers.
