Nick was a proud member of the Operating Engineers Local 49 for more than 50 years. He was a crane operator and a licensed boat pilot on the Upper Mississippi for non-passenger boats. He spent his career operating cranes, building bridges in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Collecting Red Wing pottery was his passion. He and his wife, Bonnie, spent most of their spare time searching for another piece of Red Wing pottery. He was a student of the business and the products of Red Wing Potteries. He was a unique individual who made friends and memories wherever he went. He lived his life based on the poem “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, which his father read often to him.
