While the ice and frost on the trees have provided a beautiful picture for us over the last week, the more than 10-inch snowfall and subsequent ice storm was a reminder of the challenges to living in northern Illinois. Last week, in response to some of the challenges presented by the recent storms, the Public Works Department requested, and the City Council approved, the purchase of a Toolcat Bobcat 5600. This multipurpose unit is equipped with a 72” snowblower, broom, snowblade and grapple to quickly and efficiently remove snow from some of the harder to address lots, curbs and paths that can be difficult to adequately clear with our traditional equipment and manpower.
