PROVIDENCE — Dan McKee was ceremoniously inaugurated the state’s 76th governor early Sunday afternoon on the south steps of the State House, the traditional setting for the gubernatorial transfer of power.
In his address, the former lieutenant governor, Cumberland mayor and small business owner memorialized the human losses and lamented the financial devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic, thanked the many Rhode Islanders who have shown “heroism and resolve” during the last year, and promised better times.
