A Mount Olive man was charged with possessing child pornography on Friday as part of an investigation led by Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office.
Michael Curran — who was charged in Macoupin County Circuit Court — faces 10 counts of possession of child pornography. Each of the Class 2 felony counts is punishable by up to three to seven years in prison. Curran’s bond was set at $100,000.
With the assistance of the Mount Olive Police Department and the Macoupin County sheriff’s office, Raoul’s investigators searched a residence in the 300 block of East Fourth North Street on Thursday. Curran, 69, was arrested after evidence of child pornography was discovered, according to a press release from Raoul's office.
