Thats tonights last word. The 11th Hour starts now. Youre really in the final stretch until election day. There is so much happening in the world thats bringing the selection into relief for so many of the american people. Breaking economic news. This Jobs Report was released. The company much higher than analysts expected. J. D. Vance showed up tonight to sort of Put A Smoother Sheen On from his him. You blame Donald Trump. Who has been the Vice President for the last four years . The answer is your running mate, not mine. They know what the Vice President can do and what the Vice President cant do. Did he lose the 2020 election . Tim, im focused on the future. Thats a damning nonanswer. Explosive newly unsealed filing from special counsel jack smith. Its really lawyering at its best. They rigged the election. I didnt lose the election. Donald trump is not fit to lead this good and great nation. Former President Obama to get the Campaign Trail for Kamala Harris. Theres a place for you with us and in this campaign. I am proudly casting my vote for Vice PresidentKamala Harris. I look forward to casting my ballot for her. On November 5th im casting my vote for, harris and Tim Walz. Good evening once again. I am Stephanie Ruhle and we are now just 42 days away from the election. Get your scorecards out because a lot is happening this week. We have what is likely the final debate as vp candidates tim Walz And J. D. Vance faced off. Kamala harris shared the stage with republican Liz Cheney and Donald Trump cried foul after jack smiths latest filing came packed with new revelations about trumps efforts to overturn the 2020 election. Meanwhile, the Middle East, a three Day Dockworker Strike and the aftermath of Hurricane Helene could weigh on the outcome of the election. Everybody better buckle up because im sure im about to say something corny, especially in the battleground states, because the campaigns, i knew it, or going into overdrive. We have a lot to cover so lets bring in our nightcap. Ron and sauna is here. You know him very well and you know he is absolutely fantastic. Cnbc senior Analyst And Ceo of wifi. A. I. Comedian John Fugal sang, host of tell me everything on sirius xm. We havent seen him in a while. Steve bruno is here for the very first time, emmywinning writer. A former Executive Producer of the daily Show And Maia wiley, ceo of the Leadership Conference on civil and human rights and author of the memoir, the new memoir, remember you are a wily. All right gang. Lets start with the debates. It was the cleanest, shiniest, Brandnew J. D. Vance who did a better Job Peddling dangerous elements of from his him then Donald Trump for Ron Desantis ever has. Is that the j. D. Vance we are likely to get for the next 30 days . Because its the opposite of the man on the Campaign Trail. I imagine it is. He was well spoken. He was articulate. He lied through the entire debates about a lot of important factors including dodging a question on the results of the 2020 election. It was slick. They used to call Bill Clinton slick willie. Theres a certain component of this that may resonate with j. D. Vance. He got away with a lot and because Tim Walz did in Fact Check and do his job as the debate opponent, i think it wouldve otherwise gone differently had we kind of seen him correct it from time to time. What does it say about your policies when you have to lie about what you actually want to do . It says that you know better and dont care. To me one of the most amazing things and you said it several times, is he wants to regain the american Peoples Trust on the abortion issue, and i was screaming at the television. What are you talking about, regain trust . Trust to do what . And they seem to take no responsibility for what theyve actually done, and were making some lofty promise about making us feel better. It was obviously empty. I thought. Hours, just a few hours before the debates, Donald Trump had a rally and in that rally he spouted a complete Word Salad News conference. I ask this all the time, if Kamala Harris did the same. She gives a lofty answer and people lose their mind that they dont know enough detail, it is word salad. He didnt even bust out a coherent sentence. Can we just talk about the double standard . And its not the first time. Thats the other thing. This is like not new and its why some democrats are really frustrated about the double standard for joe biden, you know . Remember him . So the double standard is amazing and shocking and all i can say is we are still in a state in this race and in this country where people are much more concerned about their underlying beliefs than the facts and we got to do something about that. Look, i have to say, as debates go, yes, as long as we are not grading someone on honesty or character, j. D. Vance did just great and Tim Walz failed miserably correcting j. D. Vances lies about 100 Billion to iran, j. D. Vances lies about Donald Trump saving obamacare, j. D. Vances lies about how theres a rule youre not supposed to Fact Check, j. D. Vances lies. Tim walz failed. He failed to correct these lies so clearly j. D. Vance is the winner. I agree with ron. The Human Suit was much better the other night but at the end of the day he is still a petulant, dishonest Eyeliner Model who will go down in the books on this campaign for where trump started his political career, with a racist lie about a black president. Perhaps his political career is ending with this racist lie about legal haitian migrants. J. D. Vance is all of the kids who vanished in the chocolate factory. Not one single cosmetic company has come forward and said he represents them. But again, hell need the influencer dollars next year because hell wait a few years before becoming a lobbyist. Well wait and see. You think the Harris Campaign is playing it too safe . We were talking before the show about tim Walz And Everybody said i havent seen him in a while. I wish they would start taking some bigger swings and that its now or never. He has a month left. How do you think they should be playing It Safe . He has the historic benefit of running the shortest president ial campaign in history, and the last thing you want to do is put so much stuff out there that you get destroyed in the home stretch. I think if i were her political advisor, a 60 Minutes Interview i believe this weekend, i would be playing it just as safe. Id be in local spots. I would be traveling like crazy. I would be doing local tv. I would skip national. Im with ron on this and i just want to say it plane. Black asian woman with a jewish husband got to play It Safe, yall. Middle america, where we are debating whether haitians eat dogs and cats of our neighbors. This is not and the first woman to actually be in this position, meaning in this position where we still have roughly 70 Million americans who dont care that Donald Trump actually incited a coup. Correct. You have to play It Safe. Theres different ways of playing it. The person in that profile has to take it easy, in some respects. There are bigger, louder things they could be doing. The Tariffs Issue for example. I have not heard nearly as much about that as i would like to. They are wrong on the facts. Its terrible policy. Its not just bad for consumers. Obviously it is. Its terrible for business exports, too and like slam that home. I dont think thats a risk. Tim walz did that in the debate. Joe biden to be one of the main three things i hear from her over and over and over. I know its resonating but i do hear it go i guess the question is, though, we are talking about a race with a lot of people who made up their minds on one side or the other and the question really becomes are you getting those undecideds . Because it is the undecided. This is going to be a narrow Margin Race and im just going to tell you, having run, the things that we think motivate people to fill in that little Bubble And Slide that is often not the thing that motivates them. And if you have to connect really directly im going to back steve for a moment here. Lets say she doesnt do any more interviews. The fact that the economy is as strong as it is for the last four years. This White House has really not done a great job singing it from the rafters because they do and i completely understand why they want to be careful, because you do not want to run a Victory Lap when there are so many people suffering. I get that. However, and ive said this before, democrats are saying they are unwilling to sing happy birthday until every single child in america has a cupcake. And if they do not start singing, there will be no cake. There will be nothing for anybody. You need to make a lot of noise. With all respect to maia, because i live in a world where shes my mayor, but i only think the democrats wisely are going for the other side, anymore. And quite frankly after nine years, anyone who cant decide, i dont even know what they think. Theyre going for the people who are decided but dont feel like voting. Theyre going for people who will vote to try to get them off the couch. Youre not going to sway the undecided. Thats why the only way to do it is bold policy. It actually has the data behind it. Theres two kinds of undecided. As you say, theres people who are deciding who to vote for but theres also a lot of people deciding whether to vote. Executive. And if they do they know its going to go one way or the other. Three buckets. I think you got to take different approaches with each of them. You have to motivate your own side to get off the couch and show up that day and i think they are focusing more on that, wisely, then focusing on changing anybodys minds. Im the economist. What you were saying earlier, they have the momentum now as of this morning. The Jobs Number was unequivocally strong 250,000 jobs created. The Unemployment Rate dropped to 4. 1 instead of going up. Rages are growing faster than inflation and have been for 18 months. You see this in the data. You see this in peoples purchasing power. Household Net Worth is over 150 trillion. The Dow Hit A new alltime high today. If youre going to do it you know i agree with you on every single point. Heres the thing that i hate and i talked about this on morning joe today. This is where i wish they would just connect these dots. Everything you said is real. However, things still cost a lot of money when you go to a store, when you go to a restaurant, and thats not going to change. What i would like is if democrats could start saying out loud, in a Care Economy where we are trying to pay people more, where low Wage Workers are getting 20 an hour, theyre getting benefits, they are getting paid time off. Yes, in some instances there is Price Gouging and theres corporate greed. However, when we raise wages, that means things will cost more, because you have the same people hold on. You have the same people saying, oh my gosh, i cant believe that pizza just cost 26 bucks, forgetting that, you know what, i know you are happy because the people who are working there now are i dont want to dominate. Dont worry, you wont have a chance to do that. Ill let that one go for now. In california when they raised the Minimum Wage for Fast Food Workers to 50 an hour, 20 an hour i guess it was. There are now more fast food Workers Today than there were prior to the Wage Hike and mcdonalds is selling Combo Meals for 5 bucks. Its not a universal truth that every time you raise Wages Prices go up. That was true in the 70s for other reasons. What how often are we in our daily lives, people are going out for a burger and a beer, theyre going oh my gosh, i cant believe it costs x now and that ends up dominating the conversation. When theres profits and prices are still high, the democrats have an opening to come in there and say, yes this is about corporate greed so lets look at whos partys favor that corporate read and whose parties are for the 99 . A country of small as this is and we have to be aware that when we talk about business, business also affects the little guy. So small businesses will tell you their Input Costs are really high and regulations are really difficult. We need to find a way to see all of them. The latest census data, between 2020 and 2022, start up Jobs Startup companies have created 7. 4 million jobs and that is continuing apace today. I agree with every Data Point you have, and you know who doesnt agree with the Two Of Us . The vibe in the economy and how people feel. You have to start thinking about what it is it that are making people feel this way . This is exactly what obama faced in 2012. The recovery on paper that people werent really feeling. He was lucky to have this Aristocrat Romney to draw the visual contrast for the voters to see. Youre running against a millionaire at hearse who cut his own taxes and has a golden toilet, and Kamala Harris is the american success story. That is the narrative that they need to be feeling. People are starting, i think, when given the right information, to not feel as bad as they were a few months ago. They are starting to add up into a feeling. Thats going to help and the reason i mentioned terrace, for example, is there also responding to that when they hear about it. Thats going to be inflationary. I dont know that we are completely disagreeing, so let me just say this. I think what i mean is of course they have to do a great job of singing their own praises about their success story. Of course. The thing that i find so frustrating about this kind of debate about how bold they are being or not bold there be in, it doesnt matter what she does. She gets criticized. That was my point about being a black, asian woman married to a jewish guy. Its like so the critical thing here, and i actually agree also with we are talking about yes, you always have to get the base and theres a lot of things to get the base. And she has the base. The energy is real. But it goes back to one of the things i think shes doing so well. Shes talking about the future. When shes talking about the future shes talking about small businesses. Shes talking about childcare. Shes talking about the cost of housing and these are the big, structural issues. They are so critical and she is. So we have to start saying she is. What am i going to fight for, not how many News Media appearances i make. Thats what turns on voters. When you think about those three buckets that she could go after. This week we saw her on the stage with Liz Cheney. We know next week Kathleen Hutchinson is going to be with her and a number of other former trump aides. Who do they pull from . When Liz Cheney coheadlines an event with Kamala Harris, i dont know whos on her guest list. Two things. I think theres a small number of potential voters, basically people who are like Liz Cheney, former republicans who are sick of it and looking for validation for those feelings. And shes a terrific example of that. I think it also sets a different tone that Kamala Harris is someone that is bringing people together and clearly Donald Trump is not. Thats a great point. Is pushing people away. Shes attracting people to her. Liberals like rfk and tulsa gathered. She needs that bonnie to endorse her. To be honest, if youre going to go somewhere different, she got taylor swift. Thats a big deal, for a certain slice of the electorate. Young females ergo she needs to go after young men in a way that its just not resonating. I agree with you. Its amazing the success Donald Trump has had with young white men, we know we watched that co Vaughn Interview a few weeks ago saying oh my goodness, what a buffoon, Donald Trump. That was a successful when you hear that, its incredibly successful how hes peeling them off and part of it is that group of people dont feel like democrats are speaking to them. Yes, that is a problem, but again, how is Donald Trump speaking to them . Hes selling racism. Hes peddling scapegoating. Hes peddling xenophobia. Hes not offering anything. If this republican party had policies that would help non millionaires, they never shut up about them, and they dont. It clearly is saying something to them. There listening to it. I dont think its just those obviously very negative things were talking about. Everyone is trying to be joe rogan. Thats something they seem to be responding to and its not inherently evil but its also not something the democrats are offering. The democrats arent talking to young men for havent been for the last five or 10 years, very much. The response to it is much more stark than i wouldve expected but not entirely surprising and but hold on. Im with steve here is just by us minimizing them that they are Job Rogan one of the Dude Brose doesnt mean their votes dont count. Im saying in a world i believe. Im a parent of one so i believe that they feel like in a universe where inclusivity is so important, which it is, theyre not only not seen what theyre attacked and i know thats not the way democrats feel but this is an opportunity to go speak to them and say i know you care about the economy, i know you care about reproductive rights. Yes, but we need to see democrats start to do that. Because they are the Party Party thats fighting for these young men, because young men care about Roe V wade, young men care about Student Loan Debt forgiveness, young men care about Weed Being Decriminalized at the federal level. They have a lot to offer in they are not making the case. Why is it not working . They do feel put upon by The Rapid Social Changes that are taking place and the fear of being canceled for having a particular Point Of View that is maybe more traditional than we would expect from 20year old white voice. Theres almost a 1950s Style Field to what theyre going through but theyre challenged by some of the changes that are taking place on campus, in their social circles, and they do feel, to a certain extent, as if they are targeted. I talked to a group of kids from rutgers this week and they said that students dont feel like they can express views, if they even border on conservative views because in a young super progressive world they are going to get targeted immediately. People are going to say youre a macho pig, youre xenophobic, youre the worst, Blah Blah blah, youre toxic. And again, im not saying these boys are the greatest but im saying she wants every vote that counts and theres a way to think about every demographic out there and say how do we bring them in. So im finding so heres the problem. I agree we everybody, true democracy means we are having the debates we need to have. We are understanding the experiences of all our people. And anyone vying for Anybodys Vote is able to talk to all of those demographics. That includes young men who are white. And black. And everything. And everything. I mean my point is here that i think we have to acknowledge that Theres Something going on in this culture that is deeply unhealthy and dangerous and its very difficult to put it all simply on a politician running for office of what some of this undercurrent is. The reality of Rape Culture is quite real. I dont mean everybody out here on a College Campus is raping someone but the reality of Sexual Violence and other forms of violence are quite real. The reality of whats happening with the attacks on having programs that say we have to find a way to understand the experiences of others, to read each others histories and know them, is quite real, and the only reason im having trouble with this conversation, is not a premise that we should not vilify, or the premise that we shouldnt be having a conversation that pulls young white men into the conversation. Its that it is also fundamentally a problem in our democracy that we are this deeply divided and that the solace that some seek is in the permission to be something other than accepting of the hard conversations on all sides, but in particular, what does it mean to say that Kamala Harris, who has come in my calculation, worked so hard to be a unifying candidate, is still constantly blamed for falling short on something that society itself is not fixing. True. Nobody is going anywhere. When we return, President Obama is back out on the Campaign Trail and so are republican women who once worked for trump. I just talked about it. And later, how ideas can take off like wildfire. My conversation when the nightcap in the 11th Hour continue. Continue. So youre not just dry. Youre laugh until you cry dry. Weve got you, always. Always discreet. A Mystery Jessie loves playing detective. But the real mystery was her irritated skin. So, we switched to tide free gentle. Jealous . Yeah, look at that. Honestly. Someone get a helmet on this guy. Xfinity internet customers, ask how to get a free 5g Phone and a second unlimited line free for a year. Switch today former President Obama hits the Campaign Trail this week, kicking off a Battleground State Blitz for harris. Lets talk about sort of super surrogates. Do you think Barack Obama will make a difference . A lot of people who voted for obama turned and voted for trump. I dont know. It makes a difference for me. Im pretty sure i know you know where i was. Listen, i think it makes a huge difference, certainly for certain categories of voters on the energy level, on the encouragement to turn out level and i think its important to show, again, her big tent. I actually think its Michelle Obama who will be the real ringer for her, just as she was at the democratic national convention. I mean she was he said it and it was true. Wife guys. He did a good job. She was elektra. Again, i think its incredibly important for her that she keeps showing and demonstrating the breadth of the leadership and the crosssection of support she gets hold on. Heres a question. Another celebrity endorsement, not political. Taylor swift, biggest celebrity on the planet right now, endorses Kamala Harris and under 24 hours Donald Trump comes out, i hate taylor swift. But for the most part, taylor swift, swifties, theres a good chance they are voting for Kamala Harris. In the last 24 hours Bruce Springsteen, who Donny Deutsch said is not red, hes not blue, Bruce Springsteen is truly red, white and blue. Donald Trump Hasnt said a word about Bruce Springsteen. What do you make of that . I think Donald Trump is a pretty wily character when it comes to celebrities. Come on. You can do better than that. No, listen. Hes an old white Audience And Trump needs voters. Amazing, amazing. Quick to go after the young girl who says not the thing about the white celebrity. Donald trump has always been apoplectic when women do not do always hes a little bit of a sexist. Theres two things Donald Trump is afraid of, a strong woman and a strong wind. Hes been thinking too much so god help us all if beyonci comes out and gives a public endorsement. Ohno. I will pay money for that. I think Mark Cuban has been one of the most impactful surrogates out there. Just before we took a break we were talking about young white men but specifically lots of people in the Business Community who want to make the arguments. I just dont know enough about her. What they really mean is i just really want Deregulation And Tax cuts. To steves point, hes talking about there is. Hes talking about economic health. Hes talking about how trumps policies, if they were enacted as described, tariffs across the board, Mass Deportation of immigrants would be wildly damaging to the economy. It would be inflationary and recessionary at the same time thats amazing, everywhere he goes. Quite frankly as you suggest, hes done it better than anyone else so far. We are talking about Kamala Harris needs to reach all these different groups. She is going on 60 minutes this week. Donald trump is not. He pulled out of a 60 Minutes Interview because of Fact Checking. Did that tell you that hes going to spend the next 30 days not standing sidebyside with Nicky Haley, pulling in more voters, but hes just going back to the base. This is why am furious with everyone talking about Kamala Harris avoiding media. Donald trump avoids any media where he might be asked a Followup Question. He will not do it because he cannot stand up to scrutiny. Hes never been asked an adequate Followup Question about his lies about Barack Obamas citizenship. Yes he has. No he hasnt. Hes still pushing it and his fans believe Barack Obama wasnt born here. He has gotten pushback. He has set down for interviews before. He lies and lies and lies but he has done interviews. October 2005 for Usa Today and he hung up on me because my questions were too negative. Weve all had that experience. Careful. 60 minutes it was wise to have Liz Cheney, who the Chaney Family is still evil but it was very wise to have her there because we saw Nicky Haley get up to one third of the conservative republican vote in cities in the republican primaries. Thats why we saw Liz Cheney on that stage this week. How many years have we seen the chaneys, love to see the gop punish cheney for telling lies, they punish Liz Cheney for telling the truth but shes creating Information Structure for older republicans who dont feel right about this racist clown to go ahead and vote for a democrat. Ill tell you what i think is going to happen is shes going to go on 60 minutes and if it goes any better than fine hes going to go out the next day, maybe even at night, and do something crazy, say something awful, and steal all the headlines because the thing that he knows best talking about eating dogs and cats. Gobble up the Attention Economy and take eyes off her. Thats exactly what he did after she clearly cleaned his clock in the debate. Even cats and dogs. Water campaigns is, the more people see her, the more they like her. And hes hearing that, too. Make it so the people dont see him. Thats what they do, the crazy stuff. Hes a Tennis Ball Machine and he volleys these yellow balls, and the media chases down every ball. They catch one. Difficult what happened in the first debate. Im not sure. All right. I definitely could. When we come back, what it takes for a single idea to thrive. My conversation with Malcolm Gladwell about his new book and later our nightcap through with their mvps of the week when the 11th Hour and the nightcap continues. Now almost 25 years later, hes finally ready to return to the work that made him a Household Name with a new book, revenge of the Tipping Point. I had a chance to sit down with malcolm to talk about it. Watch this. Malcolm, this is such an honor for me. It was almost 25 years ago, the world met you with Tipping Point. What made you decide to go back now . I dont want to say what was the Tipping Point that what made you say, yep, its time . Originally i was just going to do a kind of revised silver Anniversary Edition of the Tipping Point so i read it for the first time in 25 years. I hadnt looked at it in this entire time. How did you feel reading it . It was like looking at your High School yearbook. It was that experience. It was like, wow, first of all, that was a long time ago. It was a little bit i didnt want to revise it or i couldnt revise it. Too much it happened. I was arguing with myself and what i wrote 25 years ago so i just decided im going to write a whole new one. I had an existing Book Project but it just set aside and i just went and wrote the book from scratch. In the mission . The mission was i realize looking back at the First Book, the First Book was very hopeful and it was all about it was written when i was in my mid 30s, in the late 90s when the world just seemed like it was getting better and better. This was a book about how to make it even better, and then, now i feel like im more concerned about the ways in which people have used epidemics for nefarious purposes. You write about this fear of bad actors taking over, right . The laws of the very few controlling everything. Explained that because a lot of people have those fears right now. The book begins and ends sort of framed by the Opioid Crisis and about i tell a kind of News Story about really making sense of what happened, focusing on purdue pharma, the manufacturer of oxycontin. I have a little bit in the beginning and then the last chapter of the book uses all the lessons and basically its about how the reason they were able to turn oxycontin into something that had this extraordinary crisis thats enveloped us is they really took the lessons of Epidemic Change to hard. They didnt try and reach every doctor in the country. Thats not how epidemics work. Epidemics work its always a very small number of people at the center of an epidemic. It was true of covid. It was true of you name it. They were able to identify a tiny, tiny handful of doctors who were incredibly susceptible to their marketing message, who werewho Love Nothing more than being wined and dined by a sales rep, who saw No Problem with Writing Prescriptions by the thousands for oxycontin, and they just focused on those people. That was strategy. Find the 1 who matter and visit them hundreds of times and convince them to write mountains of prescriptions. Thats epidemic thinking. Thats just one example. When you think about bad actors taking over, is that why youre voicing who you are going to support in this president ial election . You said you would support Kamala Harris. Could we tie those two things together . Well, theres a number of reasons. I mean im half jamaican, shes half jamaican. She grew up in canada. I grew up in canada. Every jamaican in my life is like, i talked to my mom, its like kamala, come olla, come all the. My dad taught his dad. Her dad. My father taught her dad at the University Of West Indies in 1960. You know i have so many point of connection. I could not but be a supporter. But also i would be a supporter even if i wasnt half jamaican. You talk about, you do a lot of provocative things in the book. Among many provocative arguments you make, you criticize not just higher education but the ivy league. Youre not alone in doing so, though youre a dad. Im going to call you in 15 years and ask you if you really dont want your daughters to go to princeton. But that will be a few more years. Explained to us why you feel this way. I was trying to make sense of this strange fact that Harvard University has more Varsity Sports than any university in the country. They have more money. Its not about money and theyre also obsessed with sports in this kind of really bizarre way that the front door to go to harvard is really difficult. Its the most competitive school in the world but there is a backdoor. Theres a vector if you are rich, there is a vector if you are a legacy, if your parents went there. There is a backdoor if you are a Faculty Kid and theres a backdoor if youre an athlete. No more affirmative action but if youre a superstar lacrosse player, Come On in. They will lower their standards and they will recruit you from the other side of the room. I always try to figure, why did they care so much about filling their campus with athletes, to the point where they take their own high standards and take them down to the floor, and welcome in these kids who row or fence or all these play rugby, as the chapter, it is the example i use, and i think its about its a kind of strategy to maintain the group proportions of harvard. In other words, they like kids who play rich people sports, because its a way of maintaining a kind of the culture of american, white american privilege at harvard. Its as simple as that. I took a walk through the argument about why thats the case because i dont think theres any other reason why they should be so obsessed with sports. You think of, you know, university of Alabama Or Clemson as being sports obsessed. You get why alabama is. You understand the hundreds of millions of dollars that Alabama Football brings in but harvard rowing, not so much. Thats not the game they are playing. I think thats tied to an idea i play a lot within the book, its called the metrics, which is their organizations, institutions have Tipping Points. When outsiders reach the magic third they change the nature of the organization. So what i believe harvard is doing is trying to keep the nonprivileged elements of the school below the metric and they do that by stuffing themselves with rich athletes. Love to be provocative. I do. Is it getting harder to be provocative today at a time when we really like to put people in categories, and if we say anything that is out of that category, people are in a tizzy . And a lot of others who consider themselves provocateurs right now are really just flamethrowers. I would say that i like to be i wouldnt call myself a provocateur. Im someone who likes to raise interesting questions that prompt people to look at the world around them a little differently. So if thats provocation, i plead guilty. But its not the same as im not throwing bombs. No you are not. But im trying to get people to say to look at something from a different perspective. I have a chapter in the book upon the school called poplar grove, a town called poplar grove. Thats not its real name and its the perfect suburb. Anyone who went there would want to live there. And their High School has had this ongoing crisis for the last 10 to 15 years and that story, its a sort of heartbreaking story, and the moral of the story is sometimes the very things we do to ensure the best possible outcome for our kids are hurting kids. And now, is it a provocative statement . I guess in a certain way. But the intention of the chapter is to make particularly people of privilege, make people really take a step back and say why are we doing the things we are doing . Are we doing them for the benefit of our children or are we doing it because we as parents feel better when we create these kind of Hothouse Environment for our kids . Nobody is going anywhere. I have not heard that good a new York Accent in probably 20 years next time we come back we are going to bring my mother. Melania trump. Why, because she tried to charge cnn 250,000 to do an interview with her . That was the first part and the second part was that she came out and very plainly spoke about a womans inalienable right to choose. Do you actually buy this . No. Lets be clear. She comes out in her book and she says she believes in a womans right to choose. Do you actually believe Thats Part of this will really is it just to confuse people more, go and i dont really know what trumps position is on abortion . Yet you do. That is kind of my point is that it was a maneuver that either shes saying something to upset the apple cart, get even with him, or two, confuse the situation. Theres a certain degree of, i think its interesting to me that she did it. I dont buy it for a moment but i think it is a showstopper in a certain sense that the former president s wife went out and its something thats antithetical to his running mate, for sure, and is just muddying the waters when it comes to the republican position on abortion. Also juneteenth, ron. Theres a lot of women out there who disagree with her husband about reproductive rights and then secretly dont vote for democrats. My goodness i wonder if we discovered a new one. Can you imagine, maia . I am not supporting Rons Position but for me it is kate barr, who is running for State Senate in North Carolina on the I Cant Win slogan. I love this woman. So this is everything j. D. Vance hates in a woman. Shes got advanced degrees and is really smart. Shes an entrepreneur. You know about the cats. She has young kids and works and shes running because her district is one of the most deeply gerrymandered in the country, North Carolina being one of the worst states for this, so shes running to raise says somebody should be on the ticket. We can raise some money, we can raise some hell and we can show Executive Gerrymandering is working, and everybody deserves a choice. I just love it. She has a sweatshirt that says loser on it. Thats amazing. All right, john. I chose melania trumps ghostwriter. I shouldve gone with kirk cousins. When i was very small my dad pulled me out of bed late one night and dragged me off to his room to watch tv. He was a principal. I couldnt believe he was letting me do it but he wanted me to watch the late news because they were rebroadcasting jimmy carter signing the Camp David Peace accord between israel and egypt. My dad was a former franciscan brother. He couldnt believe in american christian could help bring peace in the Middle East and he wanted his son to witness it because to him that was Everything America and christianity should and could be. President carter won the nobel prize. President carter created more Jobs Per year than reagan, Bush And Trump combined.
