MTA reports than 17,000 COVID-19 cases since omicron

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority — which employs roughly 67,000 people — has confirmed at least 17,768 positive tests of the virus among its ranks since Dec. 2, when the first cases of omicron were identified in New York.
