More COVID-19 restrictions could be introduced in NSW as early as today, after a dozen new cases were identified outside Sydney’s lockdown zone, and the current outbreak passed 80 infections.
Seventeen new infections had already been reported, meaning there were a total of 29 locally acquired infections in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian put everyone on notice that a wider Sydney lockdown could be imposed this weekend.
Ms Berejiklian said the “health advice is evolving” quickly, and the tone of her morning briefing was that a lockdown and new health orders across other parts of Sydney could be imminent.
