Optimists learn about VCS response to pandemic

HENDERSON — On March 9, Aarika Sandlin, public information officer for the Vance County Schools, served as the Henderson Optimist Club’s guest speaker at its virtual meeting.
Jon Dorsey, Optimist program presenter, introduced the speaker. Sandlin gave an excellent slide presentation, proving to be very informative. According to Sandlin, Vance County Schools has worked hard throughout the last year to ensure we meet the needs of not only our students and staff, but also our community.
We have ensured our child nutrition program has remained open and available to every child in Vance County. Additionally, our counselors and support teams have been in place to work with families to support them in the face of the pandemic. We are a one-to-one technology district now, with every student having a device for instructional use and our digital resources expanded.
