Police have been carrying out extra patrols in Coalisland after reports of human excrement being dumped in public places.
A spokesman from police in Mid Ulster told the Tyrone Courier they were aware of an increase of reports in anti-social behaviour in the Washingbay area and had assigned patrols to address the issue.
They added that some of the incidents may have involved human excrement being discarded.
SDLP councillor Malachy Quinn said he understood the unsanitary offence had been ongoing for at least a year.
“It’s disgusting and that is currently being investigated but it’s something that’s been going on a while, it’s not just an issue during lockdown,” he said.
