A peace rally kicked off late Saturday morning in North Nashville — calling for an end to violence across the city.
The peace rally, which began at 1511 Jefferson Street, focused on solidarity, unity and a call for an end to gun violence, community organizer Gicola Lane said.
"We've lost a lot of people to both community and police violence," Lane said. "The goal is to really just call for absolute peace across the city."
The rally was followed by a march to City Hall. A downtown concert will follow.
Nashville Peacemakers Founder & CEO Clemmie Greenlee, one of about 50 people who attended Saturday's morning rally, said she also attended a Friday night peace service which welcomed about 50 people.
