DEVASTATED owners of a 13-year-old dog have had to put him down after he was mauled in an attack by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
The border terrier mix, was out with a dog walker in Test Park, Southampton, when the incident happened.
The woman walking the pet, who wishes to remain unnamed, said he was set upon some time between 6.30am and 7am on Sunday morning in the park off Lower Brown Hill Road .
He was rushed to a vet for emergency treatment but was later put down due to his injuries.
Police have now launched a witness appeal and want to trace the owner of the “black or brown Staffie” which was not on a lead at the time.
