My earlier post was sent accidentally before it was completed but this is my point..
West Caldwell Mayor Tempesta always mentions Board of Health statistics regarding "new cases" of COVID-19 in his terrific weekly telephone messages. What does "new cases" mean? For example this past week there were a reported 19 "new cases" in town but all the individuals were out of quarantine and had recovered. It is obvious that no one can be diagnosed for the first time, quarantined and recover in one week. If the DOH means new in the sense that the cases had not previously been reported as part of the overall grand total, it is very misleading and greatly exaggerates an already serious problem. As I see it, based on the fact that the 19 had already recovered, there were no, zero, new cases in West Caldwell last week.
