Brava, Julia Baird, on the speech that she imagines an empathetic and effective prime minister might have made (“What Morrison should tell MPs about Brittany”, February 20-21). Her powerful words highlight the leadership that this country lacks. -

All the various Liberal Party people had to do in respect to the alleged sexual assault was to behave like decent human beings (“Grave crime rocks nest of vipers”, February 20-21). All they had to do was make sure Brittany Higgins knew that she would be supported and protected regardless of what action she decided to take. They couldn’t even do that. -
