PROVIDENCE — State education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green on Tuesday said she hopes to select an interim superintendent for Providence by the end of the week.
In her first public comments since Supt. Harrison Peters stepped down Friday, Infante-Green also announced that students will return to classrooms this fall, with no distance learning options.
“It will be business as usual come September,” she said.
New York City, the nation’s largest school district, announced Monday that all of its students would return in person in September. In Rhode Island, elementary schools began returning in person last fall but many middle and high schools remained on a hybrid schedule, with students learning remotely part of the week.
