Resident Evil 4 remake was first reported as in development in April 2020.
Development was being led by M-Two.
New reports indicate this remake is being delayed to 2023, with Capcom Division 1 taking the lead.
Back in April 2020, we learned that a Resident Evil 4 remake is reportedly in development, with studio M-Two leading the development efforts and aiming for a 2022 release window. Now, it appears this yet-unrevealed remake is being pushed further back. VGC reports that M-Two is having its role in the remake reduces as Capcom Division 1 steps up to lead development.
This is reportedly due to how M-Two wanted the remake to be close to the original Resident Evil 4 while Capcom wished for more extensive changes. Following an internal review, the project was partially rebooted and as a result, is being internally delayed to 2023. VGC reports that M-Two wanted the game to be faithful largely in response to Resident Evil 3 remake, which saw some mixed reception from fans due to portions of the original game being cut.
