SE Camano Drive blocked Saturday afternoon while deputies investigate fatal collision

One dead, two seriously injured after car collides with pole on Camano Island

CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. – SE Camano Drive at South Hartman Place was closed for several hours Saturday afternoon while the Island County Sheriff’s Office investigated a fatal collision involving a single vehicle. 
Washington State Patrol says the vehicle was travelling NB on SE Camano Dr at a high-rate of speed when it went off the roadway and struck a power pole, snapping it completely in half. 
The driver, a 20-year-old male, died at the scene and two 17-year-old passengers were transported to the hospital one with serious injuries and one with life-threatening injuries.
