The City of Seneca, which sustained damage after an EF3 tornado last year , will receive $2.5 million as reimbursement from South Carolina.
City Administrator Scott Moulder said that the city spent an excess of $8 million to fund the recovery operations. Even though the the city had a savings account of $5 million set aside to weather emergencies, last year's tornado depleted the reserve.
The fund had slumped to $110,000, he said.
"Two and a half circuits of our electrical system were completely destroyed," he said. "We also had significant cost in the emergency personnel response to assist property owners," he said.
