Ironically we took a look at who is going to be complaining and the only potential nuisance would be the north apartments which are on the other side. So we are projecting the music towards alcatraz essentially. And on the other side we have the Apartment Building. Weve let them know about whats happening. Ironically all the hotels, they are all on the Port Commission board, and they want this, you know, this event and really the businesses do to promote foot traffic and get everybody down there. So we dont have a lot of people not wanting it. Theres been a lot of festivals encouraged, because its been a bad kind of tourist summer so a lot of the neighborhoods are asking people like yourself to produce activation to bring in more foot traffic. One of the beautiful things about this too, so the wharf cares program is near to dear to my heart. The ambassadors are creating a situation of warmth for the homeless where they can provide blankets and refer referrals into Mental Health and other services. People that dont want to spend the admission for the chowder competition, they can watch the event, bring a basket of food and eat and enjoy the day. So im trying to make this as much of a fun event for everybody and accessible for everyone, you know. Great. So yeah, so as far as projection, i talked to tony today for sound, and we are excited about having him come by 11 amon11 00 a. M. A. M. On saturday. I think there will be two orthree sound checks throughout the day. The band will be landing at 11 a. M and there will be another one at 3 30 for the band when they get set up. I will be mindful of where we are putting that extra sound. Okay. Thank you. Yeah. Im wondering if theres any other sort of descriptors i can provide or other visuals. I brought other photos. I dont know if thats needed or whatever you think. Im okay on descriptors. I have a question. I understand we are asking, and this may be partially for the staff as well but you are asking for a onetimex pangs onetime expansion. Raymond wasnt requesting this, he applied for the onetimeout Door Entertainment permit and i flagged it because it looks like a larger event and he was having several bands and the footprint looked bigger so i had crystal reach out to see could he comply with the condition which is in Municipal Police code to the inaudible at 250 feet from the property playing at the event or the last attending audience member. And he said he really couldnt comply with that. And he wanted a little more leeway. And so our condition is its not super specific in terms of what their sound limit is because we need to go out when they have the event set up and be there for sound checks. Were asking you allow us to administratively set that limit based on the closest sensitive receptor which is likely far beyond 250 feet. Got it. Thank you. One of my concerns really is i work at the building for the Fishermans Wharf benefit district. And we have a lot of these street performers that come in and i can sometimes hear from my office which is a few blocks away i can hear the performers that are right there at the triangle lot. So i guess as it exists, the community is used todayly amplified sound just because of where the location is. But to be sensitive to you within that 250foot range if i have somebody on a mic the mc for the event and i have the cover band performing and they go beyond one city block just to be mindful and be within guideline. We want to let you know and be up front about stuff. I think i mean when they did the americas cup they had this big debate whether they have their big concert stage. Usually its great for you to come out because you never know on the hill who is going to complain but i think in this case its a more local festival. I dont think youre going to have that problem. Thats why i was asking who is running your sound. And thats your key. If you have somebody experienced then you shouldnt have complaints. But this is nothing compared to what was down there for americas cup. Yeah. And also they did a big presentation for i think it was the nba a few years ago on pier 39 and that was another amplified sound event. So this is not the first time its been done. Its now its a little more structured. Our goal would be to try to make this more robust of an event on a annual basis and bring more money into wharf cares. The street artists come under the street performer. Doesnt really come under our purview. Thats the thing. One time they tried to figure that out, you know, but. Our goal is we have the receiver the zefer. We are motivated to end this by 8 00 p. M. And get people into the bars and restaurants as part of the business promotion. Our goal was to bring in proceeds for wharf cares but promote the local businesses. So we are not going to go far beyond 8 to anow a annoy people. I think its good. They are not permitted performers. They just come up randomly whenever they want so to speak. But having this discussion today, we are ready and we know what we are getting. I commend this gentleman here. Wharf fest is going to be very successful. I think it will be sold out. This is not a first time event. They have a history behind this event. You know how we have maybe this for commissioner falzon, since we havent had Police Comments in a while the permit officers from each district with come and air their frustrations or any suggestions of improvement or promotions maybe that we can do to beef up entertainment in their districts. Im happy to make that offer yes. Its been both kaitlyn and crystal have been really great at educating them on any changes within staff and showing them the map of our permitted places and we are working with each permit officer directly on any enforcement action. So theyve been super engaged administratively. But i agree it would be great to see them in here. You know, weve all been doing a lot of thinking around our mandate beyond just the regulation of night life but also the promotion of night life. And there are a lot of moments where when we are listening to different groups, tonight was really beautiful. We had someone from calle24 and we had the wharf fest. These are legacy businesses. Theres a lot of history there. And im starting to become more curious what their outreach strategy includes. As we think about how we create a platform for promoting night life as a city agency, i think we need to incorporate more learning in our permitting process around what our permit holders and what people are doing to just engage at this point. I want to have an understanding of its like street team activities, is it facebook. I mean, im very curious what strategies people are employing as we look at all the articles that are coming out in the newspapers these days, we are seeing the businesses close and we do a count of how many businesses have closed since the beginning of this year im curious as to how many are starting to open. One two, how many are becoming a permit holder and are becoming part of the commission and how Many Services they are utilizing, whether its through the outdoor event producer series what kind of ta programs they are utilizing within oewd and mohcd. I think we are kind of in crisis for Small Businesses at this point. And i think its sad. I think every sunday paper we are learning about all these different businesses closing. Thats a great idea, especially because i think we are so close to the problem and these permit holders. And i think oftentimes when we hear that a business closes theres another one that opens in its place. So its good to know what our story is and what these Business Owners are doing to still activate their spaces. I think staffwise we can definitely do a lot more data analysis, which i think would be really interesting to do, especially to look at all the businesses that closed and see which held permits from us and then what happened with that space, so i think Deputy Director azevedo can work with van houghton on that and then just on the intake side, we could always ask more questions in our permit application meaning thats totally relevant. And we should just talk offline and see if theres anything we can include in the applications. And during our retreat i think we should powwow around the different kinds of questions we should be asking so anecdotally when people are coming in front of our commission well be able to learn what tools people are utilizing to promote their establishments and how we can better promote night life. The other option is this is a previous mandate from a previous president of the commission, but if you want to know more about these limited Live Performance permits i know it definitely speeds up our agenda to have them all on consent. If you want to know more about their stories, we can change that up and have them on the regular agenda. Its really up to the president. Well, thank you for those comments. I had a couple things. Does anybody else have comments . First of all, seeing that calle 24 bundling of llps and grant program, i think its something we need to take a much smarter look at. I think theres probably tens and tens of different neighborhood corridors that might be able to use that. And i think our goal, at least my goal and i think our goal should be more llps at the minimum across entire city so theres more opportunities for artists and performers to play and our culture is more vibrant. So that was really cool. And im shocked that i was unaware of it before, and thats on me. I also think that we got to the point of Small Businesses reaching out. Last monday there was a pretty heated discussion at the Small Business commission on the proposed fees around go boxes. And i think some of the legislatures legislators are starting to see how frustrated Small Business people are especially in the service industry. And i know that a lot of businesses feel like they cant raise their prices anymore and continue to do business. And thats a serious issue. And i commend anyone with an environmental mind who wants to change Human Behavior and wants to produce less waste in San Francisco. Its a crushing issue of our time. Im just hoping that we find ways to do that that dont also force Small Businesses to continually raise their prices. For the record, beer and a burger at my bar in the mission is currently 27 with a tip. And our burger is not that good. Ill put that on camera here. Its okay. But its not that good. [laughter] thats a lot of money for a burger and a beer and everybody sits around talking about how millennials are ordering online and changing their buying habits and austria try having student debt and spending 27 on a burger and beer and you would come up with other buying habits yourself. Finally it takes a lot for a government body to surprise me in this day and age. But i encourage you to read up on the responsible Beverage Service act that has been proposed and now is being implemented by the california abc. It is very rare that i see a steaming pile of turd this large that affects Small Businesses in our state. What they are proposing which they did in a very quick timeline, essentially over the summer break when nobody was paying attention, they are trying to create a new bureaucracy in the state which will actually force every Single Person who serves alcohol to sign up in the dmvlike state setting in order to just serve alcohol. It will rival the dmv in size and scope. I know personally many servers in the city who would be uncomfortable putting their name into a database for various Different Reasons not the least of which are things happening on the federal level around Immigration Enforcement et cetera. It also requires a brand new extremely onerous basically collegelevel course for everybody to complete and get at least a 70 percent on before they can serve alcohol. And they are offering it in just two languages, english and spanish taking out the literally hundreds of other languages that people serving alcohol in california have to or speak as their first language. It also makes the id process incredibly difficult for checking ids. To the point where it will slow down business and really, really hurt business what they are proposing. Its a solution in search of a problem. The Public Comment time is over now. But anybody watching and anybody else watching this, i would encourage you to reach out to your state representatives your local representatives, scream it from the rooftops that this is exactly what we do not need right now. We have a tenperson limb elimination match. We have a fullsize ring with barside food and drink. We ended up getting wrestling here with puoillo del mar. Were hope og get families to join us. Weve done a drag queen bingo and were trying to be a diverse kind of club, trying different things. This is a great part of town and theres a bunch of shops a variety of stores and ethnic restaurants. Theres a popular little shop that all of the kids like to hanghang out at. We have a great breakfast spot call brick fast at tiffanies. Some of the older businesses are refurbished and newer businesses are coming in and its exciting. We even have our own brewery for fdr, ferment drink repeat. Its in the San Francisco Garden District and four beautiful muellersmixer ura alsomurals. Its important to shop local because its kind of like a circle of life if you will. We hire local people. Local people spend their money at our businesses and those local mean that work people will spend their money as well. I hope people shop locally. [ ]. First, before we get into our short speaking program, i first want to acknowledge a few parties that have worked really hard to make this all possible. So now i would like to introduce our beloved assessor carmen chu who is newly back from Maternity Leave and later we will be hearing from our director of public works and also our city librarian. Thank you. [ applause ]. I have to say that its rare that i ever hear the word beloved and assessor in the same sentence but here we are. I want to thank isabella from my team. Theyve done quite a lot of work to help and partner with our publicfacing folks in order to make sure that our lobby is well thought out and we have a great plan to help improve service. Thank you to isabella and vivian. [ applause ]. So when i first started as assessor years ago, i think when i first came in i think i walked into this office and probably like a lot of taxpayers i came in through different doors at different points in time and at the time it was confusing. How do you get into the office and where do you go for service. And if i couldnt speak the language which luckily i could, where do you go for help and who could assist . It was with that eye that we started to take a look at our front lobby area to see how is it that we are able to improve Customer Service and access and be cognizant of the different people coming to our city every single day, whether you are an immigrant who cant speak the language well like my own parents or someone with a disability who needs assistance or people who dont know how to find documents in our system. How is it that we as a Public Service and government serve our public in the best way possible. We started on this process to say well the first thing they do is come into our office and try to figure out wayfinding signs and the way forward. We need to make sure that when people come into our office they feel welcomed and they feel that we have an abundant amount of Services Available here. With that we really started to say lets do a few things. I think today when were doing our big unveiling along with the blue angels out there cheering us on that were showing our good faith. A few things that we want to point out to you here and this is something we couldnt have done without the partnership of our dpw is that weve done a few things to reconfigure our lobby area to improve public access. Weve transformed the physical space. We have a wonderful and lovely seating area for people to come here and wait comfortably to be able to get their documentation and information. We actually have implemented a kiosk system so when people first come into our office they can directly find and get tickets, that theyre served in an expeditious way. We have implemented a lobby navigator, someone who is greeting people when they come in to make sure theyre in the right place to make sure theyre not wasting valuable times waiting in the wrong lines. That does happen at city hall. We want to make sure were preventing that. If you look around our office you will see many of our kiosks and information are in multiple languages. Were cognizant of the fact that San Francisco is a Universal City with universal languages that we want to access and share with people. This is also something that is part of our lobby system. Of course were doing a lot more to make sure that its a welcoming environment here. So we hope that some of these improvements are really going to show that government is open to everyone its accessible, transparent, and we welcome you here. Were here to serve you. With that i want to say thank you. We hope youre going to take a look at around. We have more spaces for people to be served. We know this is going to be a public improvement for the public as a whole. We couldnt do this without the partnership of wonderful people. I know some of our folks behind the scenes that were helping. I want to thank the Mayors Office for helping us fund this but of course i want to say if we bring in the money, help us serve the public better. No further ado to bring someone forward who ive known for quite a long time who most of the time is doing work outside on the streets picking up litter or cleaning up graffiti, but one of the lesser known things he does is help our buildings function better and stay in a state of good repair. With that i want to introduce mohamed nuru and thank him and his team for the fantastic work helping us make these improvements in a historic building. Thank you, mohamed. Thank you, carmen. Yes kelly and carmen bring in the money. I get to spend the money. [ laughter ]. I think a few years ago when carmen brought up the idea of doing the project we were very excited. It had a lot of different work that needed to be done. It is a historic building. So trying to match things and to really make a place that really works with all the things we heard from carmen was something that we were excited about. Whats great about this project is it involved many parts of our building of bureau repair carpenters glazers, locksmith, laborers were all involved well in fact every shop in public works was involved in one way or another in making this happen. Its a very unique project because we have a lot of staff that actually custombuilt many of the shelves over here matching the doors all the things that we had to work with. All of those were built at public works at our shop. It was really an exciting project for the team. I think we delivered. I think youre very happy about that. Just so you know we do a lot of these type of services for all over the city departments. City hall was very special, trying to match the wood the different glass and just making the rails building all the cabinets, painting and sprucing it up. You know, the paint was actually peeling in some cases. So doing all the scraping and going through all the processes making the space happen. Im excited and our teams are excited. Well continue to serve you or any of the city departments that want us to do work for them. We actually do many of the jobs in many of the city offices. Thank you very much. Well enjoy it. Thank you. When we talked about the services here, again city hall is very special and unique to all of us because of its historic nature but also because it is an essential place people go when they want to access government and the people who represent them. Its important to make sure that these doors are open and accessible to everyone who comes in. I think theres no other patron group that feels that same way than our public libraries. We know that no matter which Branch Library it is that we go to across the city, we have an open door where people can find a safe space and learn and get educated and borrow materials and really explore. We have worked in Great Partnership with our city librarian Michael Lambert who is also working with us. You might seen behind me is a wall of 15 different curated historic photos. One of the things you may not know is in order for this to be accomplished, we had to clear out many of our old property files. We went through this intensive process to digitize over a million files. When we went through that process we found many many historic photos we thought was not only worth preserving but sharing and putting out to the public space. Something that is important to our history, buildings that used to look a different way but are important of our fabric it is important to share that with san franciscans to come not to put the away in a box never to be seen. We worked with the library to make sure we cataloged and got those photos to them to be accessible. Were proud to announce we have over 92,000 photo images that are available at our San Francisco Public Library in order for people to see our history and our shared buildings and resources. These photos here are just a small set of the photos that are now available in our Public Library. We couldnt have done that without our city librarians staff and time. I want to invite michael up to say a few words. Thank you. It is so wonderful to be here with my esteemed city colleagues and so many members of the public. This lobby is magnificent and sparkling. I want to congratulate assessor chu and all of her staff. What a remarkable job youve done with public works to transform this space. I admire the commitment to Service Excellence with all the tenant improvements and significance enhancements. What a warm friendly atmosphere youve created here. I appreciated the office of the assessorrecorder not only for providing the library the biggest book budget in the country, but also for the partnership we enjoy. Earlier this year, assessor chu and her team transferred over 92,000 photographs to the Public Library. You see a sampling here on this wall. It really makes history come alive for all the visitors to this space. These photographs are priceless. They are an invaluable snapshot in time of San Francisco and some places that dont exist anymore. These photographs are now accessible to any member of the public that wants to view them. They can come into the library to the San Francisco History Center and they can take a walk down memory lane and reminisce and relive some treasured memories of their past. [ ] tenderloin is unique neighborhood where geographically place in downtown San Francisco and on every Street Corner have liquor store in the corner it stores pretty much every single block has a liquor store but there are impoverishes Grocery Stores im the cocoordinated of the Healthy Corner store collaboration close to 35 hundred residents 4 thousand are children the medium is about 23,000 a year so a low Income Neighborhood many new immigrants and many people on fixed incomes residents have it travel outside of their neighborhood to assess fruits and vegetables it can be come senator for seniors and hard to travel get on a bus to get an apple or a pear or like tomatoes to fit into their meals my my name is ryan the cocoordinate for the tenderloin healthy store he coalition we work in the neighborhood trying to support Small Businesses and improving access to healthy produce in the tenderloin that is one of the most neighborhoods that didnt have access to a full Service Grocery store and we california together out of the meeting held in 2012 through the Major Development center the survey with the corners stores many stores do have access and some are bad quality and an overwhelming support from Community Members wanting to utilities the service spas we decided to work with the Small Businesses as their role within the community and bringing more Fresh Produce produce cerebrothe neighborhood their compassionate about creating a healthy environment when we get into the work they rise up to leadership. The Different Stores and assessment and trying to get them to understand the value of having Healthy Foods at a reasonable price you can offer people fruits and vegetables and healthy produce they cant afford it not going to be able to allow it so thats why i want to get involved and we just make sure that there are alternatives to people can come into a store and not just see cookies and candies and potting chips and that kind of thing hi, im cindy the director of the a preif you believe program it is so important about Healthy Retail in the low Income Community is how it brings that health and hope to the communities i worked in the tenderloin for 20 years the difference you walk out the door and there is a bright new list of fresh fruits and vegetables some place you know is safe and welcoming it makes. Huge difference to the whole environment of the community what so important about retail environments in those neighborhoods it that sense of dignity and Community Safe way. This is why it is important for the neighborhood we have families that needs healthy have a lot of families that live up here most of them fruits and vegetables so thats good as far been doing good. Now that i had this this is really great for me i go and get fresh fruits and vegetables it is healthy being a diabetic youre not supposed to get carbons but getting extra food a all carbons not eating a lot of vegetables was bringing up my whether or not pressure once i got on the program everybody o everything i lost weight and my Blood Pressure came down helped in so many different ways the most important piece to me when we start seeing the Business Owners engagement and their participation in the program but how proud to speak that is the most moving piece of this program yes economic and social benefits and so forth but the personal pride Business Owners talk about in the program is interesting and regarding starting to understand how theyre part of the larger fabric of the community and this is just not the corner store they have influence over their community. It is an owner of this in the department of interior i see the great impact usually that is like people having especially with a small family think liquor store sells alcohol traditional alcohol but when they see this their vision is changed it is a small Grocery Store for them so they more options not just beer and wine but Healthy Options good for the business and good for the community i wish to have more brine is in the pro o bryan works on oceanside projects. We understand the infrastructure is old and there is new technology to incorporate. Bryans role is to manage the Capital Projects to update infrastructure and to make things more efficient. Bryan is a unique project manager. He brings technical experience but only that but he is a great mentor to young project managers in my group. Mentors is a lot about compatibility too. He showed me his process and how he organized things and managed projects and had conversations on escalating things with contractors. Brine shows leadership. He is independent. We Work Together pretty well with the resources we have to get the best outcome for the city. I think we have an open communication and that trust again of teamwork. Bryan is a straightshooter, he likes to get things done. He doesnt seek praise. I think that is why myself wanted to nominate him for the award to get recognition for the things he does to go above and beyond in his job. He is committed. That is why he deserved the golden pride award. I havent been awarded anything like this in my 20 years. That is exciting to be recognized. It is special. It is excited to get recognition with the ongoing activities with the focus on the southeast. It is good to have a little bright light over here every once in a while. We are next to sorb ocean beach. I am a project manager for the Sewer System Improvement Program at oceanside. For the first time in nearly two decades fishers have been granted the legal right to sell fish directly to the package right off their boat to the public right off their boats in San Francisco. Its not only helping local fishers to stay afloat but its evoking the spirit of the wharf by resurfacing the traditional methods of selling fish. But how is it regulated . And what does it take for a boat to be transported into a Floating Fish market . Find out as we hop on board on this episode of whats next sf. Were here with the owner and the captain of the vessel pioneer. Its no coincidence that your boat is called the pioneer because its doing just that. Its the first boat in San Francisco to sell fish directly from the boat. How did you establish your boat into such a Floating Fish market . Well you know, i always thought that it would be nice to be able to provide fresh fish to the locals because most of the fish markets, you would have to do a large amount of volume in order to bring in enough fish to cover the overhead. When you start selling to the public that volume is much less so it makes it hard to make enough money. So being able to do this is really its a big positive thing i think for the entire community. A very positive thing. As a thirdgeneration fisherman joe as his friends call him has been trawling the california waters for sustainably caught seafood since an early age. Since obtaining a permit to sell fish directly to the public he is able to serve fish at an affordable price. Right now were just selling what a lot of the markets like flat fish and rock fish and what the public likes. So we have been working for many, many years and putting cameras in them. Theres the ability to short fish and we have panels that we open and close so we target the different species of fish by adjusting the net. And then not only that but then the net sort out the sizes which is really important. Joe brings in a lot of fish, around 20000 pounds per fishing trip to be exact. We had one day one time that we sold almost 18000 pounds. Its incredible. I know, its hard to imagine. But this wasnt always the case for joe. The markets that we have left in california theyre few and far between and they really are restrictive. Theyll let you fish for a couple months and shut you down. A lot of times its rough weather and if you cant make your delivery you will lose your rotation. Thats why theres hardly any boats left in california because of the market challenges. My boat was often sitting over here at the dock for years and i couldnt do anything with it because we had no market. The ability to go catch fish is fine, i had the permits but you couldnt take them off your boat. That was until the Port Commission of San Francisco rallied behind them and voted unanimously to approve a Pilot Program to allow the fish to be sold directly to consumers right off their boats. The purpose of the program is to allow commercial fishers to sell their fish directly from their boats to the end consumer in a safe and orderly manner for the benefit of the overall Fishing Community at the port of San Francisco. We have limited the program to certain types of fish such as salmon, halibut tuna and rock fish. Crab is restricted from this program because we did not want to interfere with the existing crab sales on Taylor Street and jefferson street. So this is not meant to favor one aspect of the fishing industry more than another. Its to basically to lift up the whole industry together. And if joe the program has been doing just that. It was almost breathtaking whenever i woke up one morning and i got my federal receiver, my first receivers license in the mail. And that gave me permission to actually take fish off my boat. Once we started to be able to sell it opened things up a bit. Because now that we have that federal permit and i was able to pepetition the city council and getting permission from San Francisco to actually use the dock and to sell fish here it was a big turning point. Because we really didnt think or know that wed get such a positive response from the public. And so were getting thousands of people coming down here buying fish every week and so thats pretty cool. They like the fish so much that they take pictures of it when they cook it and they send us all of these pictures and then they ask us you know constantly for certain types of fish now. And when they come down here the one thing that they say is that theyre so amazed that the fish is so fresh they could eat a little bit during the week and its still fresh all week in the refrigerator. So thats really cool. The fish is very fresh and the price is super. I dont think that you can get it anywhere in the bay area. I can see it and i can stir fry it wow you can do anything you want. I just can say this is a good place to shop and you have a good experience. This Program Supports the Strategic Plan in terms of engagement, people being connected to the waterfront, and also economic vitality. Because its helping the fishermen to make ends meet. They have no guarantees in their businesses, not like some people and we want to do everything that we can to help them to have a good and thriving business. How does it feel to be able to sell your fish locally kind of in the traditional way like your grandfather probably did . When i was a kid and i used to work in my dads fish market a lot of the markets that we sell to now are second and third and fourth generation markets. So i remember as a kid putting their tags on the boxes of fish that we shipped out of monterey and ship down to l. A. So its kind of cool that were still dealing with the same families. And this is probably about the only way that anyone can really survive in california is to sell your own fish. One of the advantages of this program is the Department People that pull in the fish, they can find out where they caught it and find out more about the fisherman and that adds to their experience. The feedback from the fishers has been very good and the feedback from the customers have very good. And theres a lot of people coming to the wharf now that might not have done so. In fact theres people that go through the neighboring restaurants that are going to eat fish inside but before they go in they see the action on the dock and they want to kind of look at whats happening on the boat before they go in and they have a meal. So its generated some conversation down at the wharf and thats a good thing. As you can see by the line forming behind me getting ready to buy fish, the Pilot Program has been a huge success. Thank you for being here and coming out to the outer terra veil for this really exciting and important announcement about Affordable Housing in the sunset district. I am supervisor gordon mar and these six units here are a very small addition to the city s overall Affordable Housing stock for the sunset. Today it represents a significant turning point. In the last 10 years before i was elected supervisor, there has not been a single acquisition or rehab and only 21 units of Affordable Housing have been built here in the sunset. By far the lowest of any district. And during that same time we have lost 479 rentcontrolled units in our neighborhood. Behind these statistics are the stories of hundreds of longtime sunset resident seniors and families who have been forced out of their homes, forced out of their neighborhoods and many cases forced out of our city. They are facing the very real threat that they would become the next victims of the housing crisis and the next statistics. So in my First Six Months in office my staff and i have really scoured for Affordable Housing opportunities in a built out neighborhood where new Development Opportunities are very rare, it families are rapidly getting priced out and displaced. When i saw taraval on the market a six unit Apartment Building housing mostly immigrant seniors i knew the city needed to step in. There were many challenges and we met incredible resistance. The west side lacks Development Capacity and resources are often focused on newer and shinier projects in other neighborhoods, but over the past six months, my office has worked closely with the mayor and her staff and the Mayors Office of housing. We have engaged the nonprofit Housing Organization specifically met the Mission Economic Development Agency who has the most experience through the small sites Acquisition Strategy and also the Housing Accelerator Fund to put this deal together. We are so excited that they were able to close and take ownership of this Apartment Building through the small sights program a few weeks ago.
