Today slain Capitol Police Officer William "Billy Evans" will lie in honor at the Capitol rotunda, one of the countries highest honors. Thursday the North Adams native will be laid to rest at home in The Berkshires.
A ceremony attended by President Joe Biden to honor Evans, who was killed April 2 when a vehicle rammed into him and another officer at a barricade just 100 yards from the Capitol building, was held morning. There is also a viewing period taking place today until 6:30 p.m. in which members of the United States Capitol Police Force and then members of congress will be able to pay their respects, before the ceremonial departure from the Capitol this evening.
