State leadership has hung local health leaders out to dry

There's been a lot of talk about the dearth of leadership at the national level – which has been monumental – but you need look no farther than your own state, county, city and next-door neighbor to see the result of self-interest and governance by expediency.
At the state level, Gov. J.B. Pritzker has done many things correctly to combat the spread of the coronavirus. I have supported him since the beginning of the pandemic and thought the stay-in-place order was a gutsy, necessary decision that kept the state from becoming a COVID-19 killing field (and was not the bloodthirsty quest for power of which so many partisans have accused him).
