DESPITE Gloucestershire's historic cheese-rolling event being cancelled again this year, one man has made it his mission to uphold the tradition.
Master of the Cheese Jem Wakeman took a 9lb Double Gloucester to the top of Cooper's Hill, near Brockworth, Gloucester as the sun rose this morning, Monday, before ceremonially rolling it to the bottom.
He said: "We will definitely be back next year, this can't go on."
This year's roll was dedicated to local farmer David Hardwick, a great supporter of the event in previous years, who died after a farming accident last year.
The cheese rolling event traditionally takes place on the second bank holiday in May and attracts thousands of spectators and rollers.
