Teach Kids About the Oklahoma Land Run, But Don't Glorify It

In the early 1980s, one of my favorite times at Hall-Halsell elementary in Vinita was the day we re-enacted the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. The Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 and the other land runs in the region of the late 19th century are indispensable to understanding the formation of the state they call home.
