Patty Tavatanakit and 18-year-old Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand share a one-stroke lead after carding opening rounds of 8-under 64 on Thursday at the Honda LPGA Thailand.
Coming off a T3 finish last week at the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore, Tavatanakit birdied the opening hole at Siam Country Club in Chonburi and dropped in another birdie putt at No. 3 from off the green.
"I feel like that putt went in and I just feel the speed and the read for the whole day pretty good. I feel like it matches up pretty well," said Tavataknit, who finished with nine birdies and one bogey. "So wasn't expecting that at all because I feel like I didn't really get like a solid putting practice because the greens here are so slopey. If anything, I feel like I judged everything really well and I'm pleased with my round today."
