a rescue operation has succeeded in evacuating hundreds from a burning ferry. the italian coast guard says remaining passengers are taken off. five were killed. the fire broke out yesterday morning knocking out power to the t ship. the ferry was in route from greece to italy. cnn is in italy not far from where some of the evacuees have been taken. i know the weather is terrible there which is why i have to talk to you on the phone. >> caller: absolutely is carol. it's hailing, wind swept, extraordinarily cold especially for this time of year. that really is what's prolonging the agony for these passengers even though they have now been taken off the ship itself. their rescue ship is having difficult coming in to dock.
