Throughout date are graphic and disturbing. [ gunfire ] stay down. Down, down, down. The numbers, theyre just simply shocking. At least 50 people are dead and more than 400 people injured after a gunman on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay casino opened fire on the strip below where thousands and thousands of people were enjoying something so quintessentially american, an outdoor music festival. Police say the gunman, a 64yearold man from mesquite, nevada, killed himself as officers stormed his hotel room. Witnesses say the shooting lasted around 15 minutes. You can imagine it felt like hours and years to those having to endure it. Heres one person describing the ordeal. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. So loud. Like super loud. And then the next thing you know, the sound is completely off for the musicians and all you hear is like this heavy machine gun just going off and you just hear people screaming. And so we like were just like so confused. We thought this was some technical difficulty. Now its something more. Someone yelled a gun. And people are screaming. Were exiting off stage. And were going around the stage towards the right and people are just like climbing all over the fences trying to get out. And people are just screaming again and then you just hear pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. It was like i mean it sounded like 50 plus rounds were just going off. And people for like the left and right of us are like down on the pavement like we made it so like we went towards like the parking lot and we we were able to like hide behind this cop car. I remember just getting around this cop car and just hearing bullets just whizzing and just like bouncing like oh, like on the ground nearby. These girls were like just screaming and crying and they were just like covered in blood. One thing we dont know yet, is why. What could, whatever would motivate someone to do Something Like this . At this point Authorities Say they have not found a link between the shooter and terrorism overseas or theyre not calling it domestic terror at this point. His home in mesquite, about 80 miles away, is being searched for any clues and you can be sure they will be searching it for quite some time. Police said he had a citation in his past that was handled by the court system, but really, not a long history with runins with Law Enforcement. Whatever the motive, it is no consolation that the loved ones of those People Killed or the survivors who are sitting in hospital beds right now trying to recover from gunshot wounds. Moments ago President Trump spoke to the nation about this national tragedy. Listen to this. Thank you. My fellow americans, we are joined together today in sadness, shock, and grief. Last night a gunman opened fire on a large crowd at a Country Music concert in las vegas, nevada. He brutally murdered more than 50 people and wounded hundreds more. It was an act of pure evil. The fbi the president also added he will be heading to las vegas on wednesday to meet with Law Enforcement, First Responders, and the families of those impacted, so many families impacted, thousands and thousands were in the crowd there. Over the next hour we will have many of their stories coming from witnesses to from witnesses to survivors of this massacre and from investigators trying to figure out how and why this horrific act ever happened. Lets go right now, though, to cnns jean casarez in las vegas at the scene of the shooting. Jean, you have been up all night. You saw the ambulances coming and going as this played out in real time. What are you seeing there . Thats right. And right now, it is crime processing time. As you just said, Law Enforcement and the fbi, they are not classifying this mass casualty event because they want to know the intent of the shooter, why did he do what he did and so search warrants are being executed at this moment. Behind me at the mandalay bay, at the room on the 32nd floor where Law Enforcement says he had ten rifles, we have also heard in excess of ten rifles, also a search warrant executed at his home to try to find out the motive. This is what we do know. We do know that across the street, across the las vegas boulevard, across the strip, where he apparently intended to shoot, was a crowd of 22,000 Country Music fans that were listening to jason aldean, one of the largest Country Music stars. We know there was a lot of Law Enforcement that were off duty. We know the Los Angeles Sheriffs Department had at least two people there, the Los Angeles Fire Department had at least seven people there. Some of their members were shot. We know a los angeles a Las Vegas Police officer off duty was shot in that audience. Another one was also transported to the hospital. So we know that it was a crowd of specific types of people listening to that music, but it all started at 10 08 last night. The weather was warm. Its las vegas. Its cold today. It was warm last night. The strip was buzzing. It was lots of people on a sunday night. And it was the 32nd floor, all of a sudden, people started hearing those shots. And the missing link, as the president said, very quickly, Law Enforcement made it to the 32nd floor, it was s. W. A. T. S. W. A. T. Breached the room. They went in. Very close in time to when those shots rang out. How did they know it was the 32nd floor . We may learn that as facts come out but they did. The shooter, they believed had shot himself before they came in, but it was very close in time. But the fact is, that 406 people have been taken to area hospitals through the night. I would see the ambulances come in and then they would leave, one by one, and i would be able to see because the lights were on inside the ambulance and i would see the emergency medical responders treating each and every person that they were taking out to the Trauma Centers here in las vegas. This city was paralyzed through the night. Interstate 15, which is the gateway from los angeles to las vegas, up to salt lake city, it was closed. The airport, two dozen flights were diverted. Over to my left is the a runway. Its all very close together and the strip is the place to be in las vegas and thats where everyone was and so many victims injured and even perished last night. And a large section of it right now, a massive crime scene now. Jean, thank you so much. Well be coming back to you throughout the show. The shooting started as jean was mentioning while Country Music star jason aldean performing on stage for 292,000 fans. He was closing out the festival, the big headliner and finishing his set. People in the audience ran or dove for cover against to get behind anything as they were still simply trying to figure out what was happening. Get down. Get down. Gunshots. [ gunfire ] [ bleep ]. [ inaudible ]. What is it . I dont know. Stay on top i know. I have to stay on top of you. [ inaudible ]. Were going to get trampled if we dont go. Get trampled if we dont go. Lets go. Were going to get trampled. It is hard to wrap your mind around thinking that is rally but it is. My next guest shot that video, Vincent Sager standing near the stage when the shooting began and had the presence of mind to take that video. Vincent is on the phone. Can you hear me right now, vincent . Yes, i can hear you. Thank you so much for getting on the phone. I can only imagine what hearing that again is like for you and we see and hear a little bit of what you saw and heard. Can you walk us through . That made my hair stand back up on my arms just hearing it. I mean, as she was saying earlier, jason aldean was in the middle of set just getting going and we were stage right in the front, closest to the las vegas boulevard, and, you know, you start you hear first a couple shots and your mind thinks you dont know what that is, maybe its this is vegas. Pyrotechnics, aldean, fireworks, and then the rattling you heard in the video first. And youre thinking okay, now its a malfunction. Youre not getting it. Then what made you click, put that mind in everybody to something is not right is when jason aldean stopped. He ran. And then Somebody Just started running saying oh, my gosh, hes shot, hes shot. People in front of us that were getting shot and you were seeing, as you were hearing, the shots going off, you were hearing just them hit the ground and you were running. You dont know whats going on. We were right there on las vegas boulevard. Theres that wall. You dont know thats the thing youre hearing everyone saying no one did not know he was up there. We didnt know where the shooter was. He could have been on the ground. We were hearing on the ground. I was waiting for someone to jump over the wall and start shooting. And so we, you know, started exiting because the main exit to exit the festival was unfortunately right in front of mandalay bay. People exited out of the front, you were exiting right in front of harms way. Now you have 22,000 people trying to keep calm and, you know, [ inaudible ] individuals trying to keep everybody calm to exit out but the panic is real and you have people running. A guy in front of us who got shot in his back and still running. And were trying to stay calm. As soon as you get to one area, somebody screams. At this point theres other people playing like that telephone game where theres a shooter over here now and you dont know. Youre running and running one way and people are running towards you. You dont know where to go. People were scared and confused and it was terrifying. I didnt believe you dont believe you are a part of now whats going down as the largest massive shooting on our grounds. You dont think you would be a part of it. And when youre there, like i wanted to its hard to say you werent scared because you have adrenaline going through you, everything is settling, i made it home and laying here with my dog im more scared now than gunshots at my feet. Thats what i was going to ask. First and foremost adrenaline and pure survival instinct. Now its like that adrenaline. If a son is under a car you can lift the car up. You have that instinct to start getting people out. Now as the sun comes up and youre seeing seeing and hearing all of the stories and thinking back to it, can you make any sense of what you just lived through . I cant. I cant at all. I mean, as a fan of Country Music and just like how you guys said, your mind is thinking like e okay, is this a terrorist attack going on and youre thinking, oh, my gosh, this might be, you know, unfortunately whatever a terrorist attack and then think this is a country festival and the president and everything going on, people who voted for trump are not going to say this, but probably Country Music fans. Attack on the country and your mind my mind is just going a mile a minute thinking everything. Then you hear okay theres a bomb. Youre hearing everybody saying different things. Of course were all proven there was no bombs or extra shooters. At this point you dont know this. Youre getting messages and what not and different information from people. At this point you dont know whats going on. Youre just and youre trapped. We were literally just trapped. We couldnt go anywhere. It was an ambush. It was it was an ambush at an open air festival in the middle of las vegas. When you mentioned the president , he spoke just a short time ago, i dont know if you had a chance to hear it yeah, i was listening. Did his words bring you any comfort . I mean, its i mean its heartfelt. You really cant you cant really express how he did or how to express Something Like this the way no better than he did. He did it very well. And the fact that he said, you know, vegas is almost you can say a second, third home to him, his name is on a building here, for him he knows the effect. For him to come here right away, its what you want to see the actions done. So i definitely i give him credit for what he for what he said and how he handled it. Now its a matter of us, what are we going to do . Yeah so many questions. Investigation just getting started. But most importantly, at least were speaking to you and you are okay, at least physically. Vincent, thank you so much for coming on. Im so sorry you had to live through Something Like this. I appreciate it. Thank you. Like i said more prayers and thoughts goes out to everyone who unfortunately was not able to make it out safe. But i mean metro, las vegas metro, the whole entire staff and route 91 and harvest fest the way they handled everything was topnotch professionalism. Even the staff of route 91, wasnt employees, come work at the event and heres a couple hundred bucks. Route 91 and metro they deserve all the credit for how they acted. Vincent, thank you so much. All right. So police say they believe the shooter acted alone. Hes been identified as a 64yearold white man who lives in mesquite, nevada. Authorities say there are no links to International Terror groups but they dont yet know, of course, the motive for the massacre. The why, the how in gods name why, would someone do this. The shooters brother lives in orlando and spoke to reporters there about the shock at hearing the news. He was my brother. Yeah. Its like an asteroid fell out of the sky. We have no he hasnt you know, dont know how to go through now its last time i talked to him was he texted me to ask how my mom was after we didnt have power for five days in the neighborhood. He had no machine guns when i moved him from melbourne to mesquite. Find out who gave him who he bought the machine guns from. Once again its theres no blame and, you know, its just he bought the machine guns and he did this. I mean even his own brother at a loss for words how this all happened. Investigators executed a search warrant at the shooters home in mesquite a short time ago. Mesquite police briefed reporters about the investigation. Cnn was there for the briefing and joining me now, whats the latest there . Well the police here tell us the Mesquite Police department telling us that the search warrant has been executed, that he are very slowly and methodically going through this house. When they initially approached this house, kate, in the Early Morning hours, there was concern what they might find given the amount of carnage and violence in vegas. What they did was evacuated the immediate neighbors around the house. They used a robot to gain entry. But then what they found was a very normal ordinary house. And it has simply added to the confusion by the Police Department. Heres what we heard from the Public Information officer, the Mesquite Police department. Whats unique for us is that the gunman, the shooter, and the person with him, we, the Mesquite Police department, have not had any contacts with these people in the past. We havent had any traffic stops, any Law Enforcement contacts, no arrests or nothing. Reporter he did add that they did find some ammunition in the home, but other than that they didnt really find anything out of the ordinary and in talking to some of the people who live here, they also say, this is about the last place that they would expect someone to do this, especially given the profile of this man. 64 years old, living in a 55 plus retirement community, almost zero crime here. There appears to be nothing wrong here in this planned community if you talk to the people who live here. This is a place where you can drive golf carts down the street, where people walk their dogs. They are having an extraordinarily difficult time trying to reconcile this place with the 64yearold man checking into the mandalay bay, going to the 32nd floor, days ahead of time, and then planning Something Like this. Shooting the windows out of a hotel room. For them, this is something that is absolutely unthinkable, given the profile of this man. So what they are hoping to learn, kate, they are hoping to figure out exactly what would this sort of a man to do this. Kate . Absolutely right. Thank you so much. Kyung in mesquite. We will get back there as more news comes. Press conferences could pop up throughout the hour. We will bring you the information and those moments live, bring you the most updated information as they pop up. Cedric alexander, a former police chief of rochester, new york, jonathan is a cnn Law Enforcement analyst and former secret Service Agent under president obama, david cats, former dea special agent, former firearms instructor at the fbi Training Academy and tom verneny former detective for the new york Police Department. Thank you so much for being here. I really appreciate it. David, the question of why is what lingers now. The death toll can still rise. The number of injured could still rise. We are still in the hours, even though its moving closer to 12 hours since this horrific incident, but why is lingering around all of this. We dont know why. How does Law Enforcement get closer to figuring out the why . The usual thing, theyre going to go into is take his computer, his blackberry, cell phone, smartphone, whatever he has, and going to look anything hes done on social media, any any emails, spoke to people who know him well. Apparently his neighbors think hes a quiet, regular guy. He will have contact with other people who know him to a greater extent. Maybe political contacts, the woman hes involved with does. At this point theyre not saying anything, but there clearly is a motive and it probably isnt he doesnt like Country Music. Thats absolutely right. You have to assume, jonathan, this was planned well in advance. You have to assume that, correct me if im wrong, you have to assume he would request a hotel room that faces this concert . This is not a crime of opportunity. This was premeditated. He thought about this. The room placement, the Weapons Systems hes going to use, the target, the concert. So what, to your point, theres investigative process going on right now. What theyre going to start looking for is, preattack indicators. What was he doing . Social media is a great source. Talking to neighbors. There has to be some sort of catalyst that set this individual off to create such a or act out such a horrific act. There has to be something. His brother seems to have absolutely no clue. Thats always the thing, tom, always that seems to be the there are two themes that seem to be reoccurring. The poor victims who get caught in this, everyone thinks its fireworks at first because they cannot believe they are living through Something Like this and in the aftermath the family never seems to know. No. Ive been to mandalay bay. Ive been to vegas a number of times and stayed at mandalay bay a few times actually. Actually somewhat of a Country Music fan. So had i been in vegas i could have been at that concert. My condolences to the family and friends caught in this horrific attack. You know, as we talked about before, theres usually theres got to be something. Otherwise people will not be able to make sense of this, right. If this is just something people just dont go and do on a whim, right. Right. Especially with in excess of ten weapons. Exactly. I dont know if they thought he was an ice hockey player coming in with big bags carrying rifles. I dont know what they thought he was carrying. Thats the thing about vegas. Go in with a lot of tennis rackets, golf bags, you know. Thats a lot of weight. A lot of weight. Ten rifles is a considerable amount of weight and get someones attention. Some why do you have bags feel like they have metal in them. It goes to the point that, you know, this is premeditated. Its reported that he was staying at the hotel since the 28th. Yeah. Thursday. Making multiple runs to a car. I mean, rifles are one thing. Think about the ammunition. The rate of fire of this attack, the amount of ammunition he had to have stockpiled in that room. Interesting to see after the fact what happens with the investigation from mandalay bay. Did housekeeping go into the room. What do these preattack behavior i have a couple weapons questions i want to get to. Cedric, let me bring you in on this. If youre a police chief in any major american city, wake up to seeing this scene overnight, what are you thinking . What do you need to do differently now . Well, first of all, let me say my condolences to those who lost their lives last flight and the 406 people reportedly injured, still a lot of triaging being done, its very painful for all of us, but i can tell you, myself and many of my colleagues across this country who have been chiefs, it is shocking. It is disturbing. It certainly brings about a lot of questions as to why this would occur. And most of all were being right now at this point, quite frankly, very speculative in terms of what occurred, what motivated this, what was the motive behind it, politically influenced, someone having some Mental Health issues, because regardless of what forced him to do this, theres clearly something very wrong with whats going on inside his head. I think at this point of this investigation, as the investigators pull this information together and they begin to crystallize it, it will make more sense to all of us as to what occurred last night. One of the questions my colleagues there talking about just a moment ago, how did he get this amount of weaponry into his room. He could have done it a little bit at a time, could have done it in concert with other persons. We dont know. But what we do know is that theres an Ongoing Investigation and i think within some reasonable amount of time, well have a much clearer understanding as to what motivated this and what all led up to this. This is just absolutely horrific and very painful for all of us as americans today. And jonathan, youve spent a lot of time advising folks on security situations. Absolutely. Is this something that i mean, is this something you offer advice for . Ive spent the last year talking to different trade organizations, the Convention Industry council, the different groups, meeting planners international. This was the example that i constantly gave around tragic, dynamic situations that can occur at events and it comes down to, you know, planning. Planning for every type of contingency. What i think is interesting in this, with this attack, is that the basic elements are run, hide, flight, follow. You saw that. Once people recognized there with was a threat they dispersed. Whats different is that the attacker was elevated. Right. So were not talking about a horizontal plane anymore. Were talking about an elevated shoot shooter. People were rung and doing the right thing trying to hide they were exposing themselves more. Its a game changer to have this attack. Im involved in active shooter response, to 20 years . Private industry. Little different but similar. The issue here is number one, you do you try to avoid but youre in a crowd. Your ability to evacuate the scene is limited. Open air festival very few places to hide. No cover. The third, you either confront or fight. 32nd floor. There is no fight. This is the worst, the worst of all possible circumstances. And the venue could have done nothing because theyre going to do the usual stuff. Screen people, theyre going to check and see if theyre armed or not but you cant take the elevated issue outside their control. David, real quick, important things that we need to that you want to know about the weapons right now. Why does it matter . How does he get a fully automated weapon. That was. Rate of fire just off its hard to say, but talking about probably a submachine hand gun firing between 700 and 800 rounds a minute. Thats illegal to purchase unless you have a [ inaudible ]. How does he get that weapon . He had multiples. Im sure the atf will track that down first and foremost. No kidding. Weve got a lot to come this hour. Unfortunately were all sitting here together talking about Something Like this today. If you can stick with me i will appreciate it. Coming up were going to hear from more eyewitnesses on the ground who were there amongst the 22,000 festival goers enjoying a beautiful night in vegas for a concert when these shots came raining down on them and turned the concert into the worst mass shooting in u. S. History. Also ahead for us, the Las Vegas Police theyre set to be giving another news update. They have done a very good job of keeping everyone updated into the morning. Were looking forward to getting another update from them very soon and bring that to you. Stay with us. There was a sound like it was pyro misfiring. Why is there pyrotechnics going off now. They have done a very good job off now. They have done a very good job off now. Rodney and his new business. He teaches lessons to stanley. And thats kind of it right now. But rodney knew just what to do. He got quickbooks. It organizes all his accounts, so he knows where he stands in an instant. Ahhh. Thats a profit. Which gave him the idea to spend a little cash on some brilliant marketing ha, clever. Wow, look at all these new students way to grow, rodney know where you stand instantly. Visit quickbooks. Com. All right. Were expecting an update any moment now from the authorities in las vegas. Were seeing a live look. We will take you there as soon as it begins. Heres what we know right now. None of it is good news. At least 50 people were killed and more than 400 people injured after a gunman on the 32nd floor of the mandalay bay resort and casino opened fire on a concert that was taking place 300 feet below. People say 64yearold shooter heres one of the first pictures were getting of him, he killed himself moments before moments before police were able to breach his room. Theyve released this photo of him. So far he hasnt been linked to overseas terrorism. Hes believed to have acted alone. President trump is calling this an act of pure evil. He addressed the nation just moments ago. Hes ordering flags to be flown at half staff and also announcing he will be traveling to las vegas on wednesday to meet with survivors, their families, and First Responders. Moments ago people who were staying in the mandalay bay resort they were finally allowed to return to their rooms. More than 100 of the injured were taken to University Medical center in las vegas there. Da nita cohen a spokeswoman for the hospital Level One Trauma Center, i think the only one in the state, joining me by phone. Can you hear me . I can hear you and youre correct, yes, we are the only Level One Trauma Center in nevada. Can you give me an update and our viewers of what the very latest is from the hospital . How many patients, how theyre doing . Absolutely. We received a total of 104 patients from the shootings last night. Eight of those patients went straight to the or. We have a unique situation here where we have a Level One Trauma Center that is free standing. That means within those four walls of our Trauma Center we can treat any lifethreatening injury imaginable. Three o. R. Suites so we can get patients from ap an ambulance back to an o. R. In about one minute. We also have mri cat stan and blood banks within those four walls. We have excellent outcomes here. Our survival rate is 97 and thats even for those patients who have less than a 1 chance to survive. Of those patients who came in eight went straight to the operating room, 12 are in Critical Condition this morning. Unfortunately, four patients passed away. The good news, if there is any good news to be found, we are having some patients already treated and released. It has been a challenge, though, to get them back to their hotel rooms where they originated last night because the Las Vegas Strip is still shut down and many hotels are still in lockdown. Were working through those challenges this morning. Are you at capacity . Can you take any other patients right now . What do folks need to know . We can take patients. Because we are a Level One Trauma Center we can move patients through our trauma resuscitation area very quickly. We can get them back to the o. R. If thats where they need to be our icu units throughout the hospital or treat and stabilize them right there. We move patients through the resuscitation area very quickly. We could receive more patients this morning and trauma continues in las vegas. We will have the typical unfortunate car crashes and people doing unfortunate things and accidents happening we will continue to attend to throughout the day. More than 100 patients being rushed to your Trauma Center, kind of flooding your Trauma Center. Can you walk us through how you handle that . Sure. So patients are triaged actually out in the field with trauma field triage criteria. And then once they make it to us f they are critically injured they will come to the Trauma Center. If their injuries are a little lower than critical, then they can go to our Emergency Department to be treated and stabilized there. Again, patients either go straight to our operating rooms or to an icu unit, sometimes treated and released from our Trauma Center although that doesnt happen too frequently if they have very critical injuries. Last night we were triaging patients in our Ambulance Base outside of our hospital to make sure we were using our resources very efficiently and making sure we were sending our patients to the right level of care within the hospital. What is your biggest need right now . We heard from police that its understandable blood banks, people need blood . Yes. We are holding a blood drive today, even though our levels are just fine and we are not at a shortage, we are have our shelves fully stocked with blood, we just want to make sure that we are ready. Trauma does continue to swe wan to make sure were ready. Were holding a blood drive. Our other concern not just for the patients but their family and friends waiting and worried and wondering how their loved ones are. When we receive a patient we dont receive just one patient but their friends and family as well. Da nita cohen, i appreciate you jumping on the phone. I can only imagine what last night and today is like. I heard da nita say early this morning the ceo of the hospital was helping with patients, wheeling patients around, because everyone was coming together to try to make it work. I really appreciate it. Im going to go right now i believe to las vegas for an update from the sheriff. Lets listen in. Are we ready . Kevin. Can you come up . Well good morning, everyone. For those of you who dont know i am sheriff lombardo for clark county. I dont have very much more to update you with from our previous briefings. One thing in particular that has changed, in the negative, is our body count. Thats the wrong way to say it. The number of people who have died associated with this event has increased. Right now were using the number of 58. I just was informed it may be 59, of an individual that may have expired at Sunrise Hospital. So in normal fashion i do not want to give you bad information. So please do not press me on that number until we get further into this investigation. The number of injured we are using the number of 515. And as you can tell, as the hours go by, that number continues to increase. We have not received any additional intelligence associated with the suspect. We are we have completed the search warrant in mesquite. I am not aware of any derogatory information that we can utilize to furtherance of this investigation at this point. But we have just recovered items and it will take a little while to evaluate that information. We have learned information of additional property in northern nevada and the fbi has responded to the location and will be serving a search warrant here shortly. We have completed the investigation at the room. We have collected all the items shoesh associated with the suspect and we are in the recovery phase of that. The mandalay bay itself has gone back to service, minus the 32nd floor. And they would like everybody advised that if they are separated from their hotel room, they have the ability to return to the hotel. Now, the location in question, the concert hall, we will be in a long process of body recovery out there and evidence recovery. And evidence documentation. So youre going to have to ask the publics patience and as we bring information forward, its a long, laborious process, to identify the victims and reunite them with the family members to advise them of their situation. So, we still have the families responding to the las vegas metropolitan Police Department headquarters in order to conduct a reunification of their family or friends. Eventually, in the next few hours, actually, i dont want to give you a skewed timeline, but approximately 1 00 p. M. , we will request the family members to respond to the Convention Area to utilize a larger space and we could bring in the victim advocates to assist with the family members in the long term. Right now, its just a temporary phase associated with the reunification. Additionally were asking to solely utilize United Blood Service for Blood Donation and umc as the only places to donate blood. We had some resource issues associated with the laborers, medical clinic. I applaud their effort to help us, but we have some resource issues associated with that. Better utilize lvpm. Com to ensure you know where those Blood Service locations are so we can get the needed lifesaving blood for the victims associated with this. At this point as you can tell i have several individuals to my rear that would like to make comment. Reference the statement, i want to bring that up now, so i give the opportunity to special agent rouse to respond from the fbi and he will explain what we know now reference the isis claiming this individual. Thank you. Good morning. As this event unfolds we have determined to this point no connection with the International Terrorist group, as this investigation continues, we will continue to work with our partners to ensure that this is factually, thoroughly and absolutely investigated. To be able to bring comfort and peace back to this community. Thank you. Good morning. My name is ruben keywin, the congressman for the fourth Congressional District in nevada. I want to say thank you to Law Enforcement and to all the First Responders who are now fighting tirelessly to protect and save lives. I had the opportunity to stop by Sunrise Hospital earlier this morning. I saw firsthand a lot of the victims, a lot of the family members. But i also saw a lot of nurses and doctors that were working tirelessly to save lives. Today is a very sad day for nevada, a very sad day for las vegas, but if anything good came out of this, i saw humanity. I saw a Community Come together. I saw strangers helping strangers and saving lives. I do want to say thank you to the sheriff and to metro police, to firefighters, to the doctors, the nurses, and everybody who is working tirelessly to save lives at this precise moment. I know were going to get through this and our city will be stronger. Thank you so much. Im clark County District attorney steve wolfe, and on behalf of the clark county d. A. s office our thoughts and prayers go out to everybody associated with this event. Two of my prosecutors, two of my young female prosecutors, were actually at this concert, close to the stage. And ive spoken to both of them this morning, and theyre pretty rattled. Theyre pretty shaken up. This was a horrific event, to say the least. This is a classic wmd. A weapon and a man of mass destruction. What im pleased so much about is how this doesnt involve politics in the sense of republican or democrat. We are here, all of us are nevadans and im very proud to be present with the other leaders here because were working together to get through this. I want to thank sheriff lombardo for your leadership in leading us through this terrible, terrible day. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you, sheriff. I want to first off begin by thanking the sheriff, i got down here eight or nine hours ago and there werent many of us here eight or nine hours ago, just a handful, immediately after this incident, but i can tell you our First Responders, both the firemen and women of the Fire Department and metro were on their way in when this all happened. Weve got First Responders that are literally covered in blood as a result of this. Theres a lot of victims that have not been identified as of this point. But they have stepped up. It was a sole shooter. There is no further threat that were aware of. No immediate threat. I want to ensure everyone thats listening, hear our words, las vegas is safe. The men and women at mandalay bay and mgm resorts have been incredible in terms of communicating and working with the Sheriffs Office and ensure us everybody can be taken care of and get back in the rooms and they understand we are safe and doing everything humanly possible to protect all of our tourists and our citizens in clark county. That being said, the sheriff and i have set up a gofundme account some of you might have seen. We have been inundated with phone calls and Text Messages of people asking what they can do. A lot of family members going through an awful lot at this particular time. As the sheriff said we have over 500 in our hospitals being treated and we need to provide them with some sort of support and we have done that and i cant say enough about the fine men and women that are our First Responders here in clark county and all of the cities and jurisdictions have pulled together. I thank them all for that. We pledge the full resources of clark county to assist the sheriff and fbi in any way humanly possible and will be at your service and ask for your prayers. God bless you. I want to thank you all. Im mayor Carolyn Goodman of this great city. Absolutely mirror what commissioner sislack spoken to about the great response, rapid, thorough, of the First Responders and Law Enforcement. I spent part of last night and was late this morning with you all because i was over at umc and the trauma unit and its been a very, very difficult time for us. And as we look forward to continuing what our great city does, we offer a safe place. This is a crazed lunatic, full of hate. We dont know much about his background, but it certainly is not an extension of what we believe in, what everybody who lives here and works here and those who visit here want to see. This is something that was simply outrageous, uncalled for, and so many innocent people, young people, children, parents, who have lost loved ones and so many still suffering in the hospitals going through major surgery, we have some that were hit quite lightly, with shrapnel as they were near the exits, p. Its been a hugely traumatic time for all of us. For our visitors who love Country Music, many of whom have come from the northern part of our state here and just really came here for a wonderful, safe time, we pride ourselves in our Law Enforcement. They are unequalled. They are so rapid to respond, so thorough in what they do and our First Responders have been simply phenomenal. It is a city and a community that has pulled together. Everybody is working so hard to make sure that we are taking care of the needs of the families and those who have lost loved ones and its just been a very, very traumatic time for everybody. The president gave a beautiful message and he will be visiting us either some time later today, tomorrow, or wednesday. Great concern. And we just know that the entire community i have so many mayors that have called, governors who have called me personally to express their support, help and what we ask for is blood. Thats the main thing right now. Is that if our people want to do something and they are healthy, then please, donate blood. Well have plenty of bags available. Always call a hospital if youre unsure where to go. So thank you very much. And madam congresswoman, im sorry, i didnt mean to step in front of you. Its a pleasure to follow you. Thank you very much, im dina titus i represent nevadas district one that includes the fabulous Las Vegas Strip including the mandalay bay where this horrendous act took place. You know, so many times i welcome people to las vegas and all the excitement and entertainment and fun it has to offer. I never thought i would be standing here trying to offer solace and all through the night we were briefed by Law Enforcement and i thank you, sheriff, and your team for all that you did and the First Responders. Mainly we were trying to stay out of the way because you dont want to turn a personal tragedy into a political event. Today my office will be giving blood as the mayor said. They ark appreciate your thoughts and prayers, but what they need is blood. We will be open to do anything we can to assist. I have been hearing all these stories of heroism that occurred in the midst of this tragedy. Off Duty Police Officers who were there just for the concert for an evening of fun able to help people get shelter and able to identify the location of the shooter and random strangers. A friend of some of my Staff Members who live in the district said they were running and being trample and somebody opened a van door and pulled them inside for shelter and safety. Thats the kind of people we have here in las vegas who are willing to reach out and help one another. I thank all of our Law Enforcement and First Responders and those in the hospitals where people are in the halls and the parking lot trying to take care of so many and please call on our office if there is any way we can be of assistance. Im adam nevadas attorney general. I want to echo what a lot of people said. I have been here since 2 00 in the morning and the job that metro and Law Enforcement has done is absolutely remarkable. We have never been hit with such a tough situation in this sdpci and to see the poise and pressure they performed under was astounding. I believe they are always going to be able to get us out of these situations. Our Law Enforcement will step up to the plate when we need them most. Of course the city and our state will bounce back. Thank you very much. I want to add more thing before the govern nor comes up. I have to ask you to do something else. When you see one of these men and women who are wearing a badge, tell them thank you. Their selfless actions saved the lives of hundreds of people. Not a dozen, but hundreds of people. This death count would have been many hundred more were it not for the brave work of every one of men and women you see wearing a badge and members of the Fire Department and the First Responders and the Police Department. I encourage all of you watching to say thank you. Appreciate that. Im governor brian sandoval. I dont know if i have words to describe what we are going through and what these poor unfortunate victims are going through. We are angry, we are grieving, we are confused. People are hurting. I want to thank the sheriff and all the First Responders. I had an opportunity to visit some of the patients in the hospital. Its unimaginable what people are going through right now. You have family members who are here and dont have anyone to reach out to, but the First Responders and what they have done, this is their finest hour. Their finest hour. The way that the sheriff and the metropolitan Police Department handled this event is unprecedented. The paramedics who came on the scene and basically what was the car zone and treated all the men, women, and kids. The Health Care Professionals at the hospitals and the doctors that came from all over the valley to do whatever they could. And now we dont understand whats happened and im sure we will find out a little more from when metro continues to do its investigation. I do know for everybody watching and i want to thank the president of the United States and the other governors that reached out to offer help and assistance. We need blood. If anyone can contribute blood. Anybody in the Las Vegas Area or locally who can do that. As we move on, we are going to need this help. This is obviously an unprecedented event in our nations history and we will have to learn from this. We are going to have to fight through this. We have to stop and pray for the families and for the victims. We have to rely on our faith in a time like this to get us through all of it. I cooperauldnt be prouder of ty nevada ans have responded and what they have done. Doctors and nurses and everyone else who has worked through the night to save lives and they have told me they saved lives that if not for the organization and professionalism and training. So again, sheriff, thank you for the courage that you have shown. To the people at the concert, you see courage and compassion there. People helping total strangers. Risking their own lives to help people. That really speaks highly to the character of america. So again, there is a lot to learn from all of this. It was a cowardly despicable act that im very angry about. Not much we can do, but we can learn. So ladies and gentlemen, thank you for everybodys care and concern. Im really proud to be with everybody who is here. The mayor and the congressman and the attorney general and the sheriff and congressman and Law Enforcement. This is the nevada family at its best. God bless all of you and the families and the victims and the mothers, fathers,s and daughters and aunts and uncle. Cousins, nieces, nephews and neighbors. For everyone who is watching, please stop and pause and say a prayer for them. Thank you. Hold on a second. I will take questions shortly. As you can see, we had the opportunity to have some of nevadas delegation here today and some are missing, but i dont want them slighted. They reached out to me. They reached out and offered their assistance. I dont want them slighted because they are not standing behind me. I have a chief of police next to me and as chief troy tanner of the mesquite pd has been instrumental in the assistance of his folks towards us to complete this investigation. I think its appropriate he gets recognized. Greg kassel is very humble. He is the fire chief and likes to stand in the back, but where we are different in our jurisdiction is through my travels in comparison to other jurisdictions, we work well with the Fire Department. They did not hesitate to pair up with an officer and enter the fray. I want to thank you for that. Im happy to answer some questions. As you know, the investigation is continuing. So please do not get too detailed on your questions because i probably will not be able to answer at this time. Yes, sir. [inaudible]. You mentioned a second location in northern nevada . The second location is based off of assessors records of ownership. He owned another piece of property in nevada. As far as electronic evaluation, we havent had the opportunity to do that yet. The only thing we are immediately aware of in our position is firearms and ammunition. People were hit with shrapnel you said. And also, how did he get the weapons into the hotel room . Like i said, we are doing the investigation. I dont want to give you any inaccurate information, but we know he brought them in on his. In an original briefing, we believe he was in partnership or companionship of a female and determined the female is out of the country. He brought the weapons in on his. As far as method, i dont have the ability to give you an accurate answer. Was the shooter known to Law Enforcement on any prior charges . Not at all. We checked the federal and local databases and state databases. We had no knowledge of this individual. We going to see the designation [inaudible]. We still consider her a person of interest. We have been in contact with her and plan to engage her upon her return to the country. Any idea how he broke through the windows or was he able to open or smash the windows . He had a device similar to a hammer to smash the windows. Sheriff, so far i heard a description of the suspect and did the investigation looking into the potential ties or loose ties . Obviously we will do that and run it down to the very end, but right now at face value, we havent been able to identify that. Sheriff, you said he checked in on the 28th to the
