Mueller is prepared to meet with President Trumps private lawyers about the russia interference investigations in the 2016 election. I think there is nothing there. It should be over quickly. Earlier today a spokesperson said these emails were handed over legally in part because they are public record. The executive director of the Transition Team told me over the phone over an hour ago, that is not the case. During the transition, there was an understanding teen the team and the gsa that they would handle the logistics and the emails. They were the property of the Transition Team. Therefore it is up to the Transition Team to tomorrow who they could or could not be shared with. They stressed the Transition Teams independence from the white house as well. And he said this letter that was snchlt sent to congress, i asked him about his and he also said they were exploring their options in terms of a response to the revelation that mueller obtained. Trump is still trying to reconcile with russia and trying to get over the opposition in congress. He is trying to tell the rest of the world we could work on terrorism. In trumps case if we could only have better relgdss, we could do more with terrorism. What do you think i guess is a foot in terms of this relation. There are so many images whether its overseas in summids where they look chum i. Two within three days sound like they are all pals as well. Whats the overall big picture about whats going on. It depen what you think is the relationship. Putin is the one person in the world he has not gone head to head with. I find that suspicious. I think trump very much would like to go back and reset with russia. He thinks obama and clinton messed it up. He is basically telling us, if it werent for the dumb Mueller Investigation the way he describes it i we could deal with russia has we should. Thats better because of the sanctions. For trump, there is a big question about how would it be advantageous to have this better relationship with russia. Syria is one thing, but realistically. Whats at sake here . One of the open questions, why trump has not taken steps to enact congressional sanctions. While he didnt roll back the sanctions early in his min station, Congress Took step that the white house has done almost nothing to impose those legislative sanctions. There is a lot of questions about why the white house is not taking steps. Its about the government telling them that they have the obligation to implement them. We will talk about the transition emails. The trump Transition Teams an agreement. They are understanding that there would ever be such an understanding. The Transition Teams have been National Security information. They are transitioning into having all things as it relates to the an agreement on the level of communications when the transition . There might have been some sort of memorandum of understanding that set out the ground rules. There is a big difference between saying whether or not this material is public versus this is material that gsa is going to withhold from Law Enforcement. Typically when you use the government device and log in and the first thing you have to do is click a consent notification that said i am consenting for Law Enforcement to actually take a look here. Of course that these attorneys are directing the letters to congress. It they believe that Robert Mueller had behaved illoolly they would be taking that charge to a judge to make the determination. The fact that this is a letter to congress appears to be registering the grievance and recommending they take additional steps in the future. That presents it in terms of not really a legal question. This is sort of a longer term policy consideration or just kind of a talking point and one aimed at further discrediting the Mueller Investigation. This is about undermining mueller and the investigation overall. Whether the probe is quick to be ending and all of those things being said. Like it is trying to find something by undermining the forces that are trying to get to the bottom of what happened when they were responsible. I think this is organized. You look at fox news calling the fbi a criminal organization. You look at the right wing clogs and there is a bunch fired. You have these attacks on the two fbi agents and the lawyer. Whether they replace the attorney general who brings in the counsel, i dont know. How does it make things better and not worse. They bring in obstruction of overreach, right . I hope they remove mueller, they would impeach the president , but you cant count on that if there is a new attorney general. It may muddy the waters a bit. I have never seen the fbi and the department of justice under attack like this. How do you read the tea leaves . Clearly there is some kind of coordinated effort here in an eachlt to get the Mueller Investigation. It seems like we are moving on to plan b or c. Plan a for the administration was to let the counsel have this investigation and win on the facts and hope it wrapped up quickly. Trying to delegitimize the investigation. We have two guilty pleas and two indictments that have come out of the investigation. The glad it hasnt produced anything damaging to the president is not really backed up by the record. This is some kind of effort to delegitimize the counsel. The plan is to remove Robert Mueller. I think that the white house learns or potentially learns a really important lesson when they decided to fire the former director james comey. They really miscalculated that moment and had overwhelming push back. If they have learned anything over the past year its that doing something dramatic like firing the special counsel might lead to the consequences that they are most afraid of. Thanks to both of you.
